Girls Basketball Season

It's hard to believe with the season the ladies and Coach Wackerly have had that there are not any threads started. Congratulations ladies, and good luck in the tournament. Bring home the big one so we can admire another banner hanging over the Gym. Maybe some day the boys Bball team can finally get another one.

The girls have had a great year and I'm looking forward to seeing another banner in the gym.

The boys will never get there until their coach understands that the regular season only gets you prepared for the state tourny. Playing weak opponents gets you a good regular season record and a quick exit from the tournament.

Monty, take a look at what a real schedule can do for you and your team.

Thank you coach Wackerly and girls for understanding the ultimate goal.

It sometimes makes one wonder if he is not more interested in his personal won and lost record more than where he can bring the team. He stepped into a ready made program and did welll, there is no doubt in my mind that the best Pepper would have done with that team is probably a couple of 14 or 15 win seasons at best. Pepper was our former ADs pick and I think he went into a deep funk when he was forced to get rid of him.
The real point of this thread is to congratulate the girls program not to take down the boys program. I personally enjoy watching the girls more than the boys and I never in a million years thought I would ever be saying that. I enjoy the up tempo and pressure defense. It seems to me that Coach W has a knack for bringing the young kids along so they never lose a step when it becomes there turn.

I'm with you. I can't believe there is nothing before this on the girl's team. Ever since coming from California, I have been hearing about the legendary Hoover Girl's Basketball program.

When does the tourney start? I'd definitely be interested.

What a nice way to start the tourney trail. I would guess that Coach was not exactly happy with the performance of his girls. They will have a good chance to atone for their Saturday game with a big win against Perry on Thursday. Don't be surprised to see a Viking - Boardman rematch on Saturday to see who advance to the Civic Center. I would think Coach Wackerly would like that so that they can see if Boardman can run with our girls. Good luck the rest of the way girls.

With such a long layoff prior to last Sat game, I think they had a little rust to shake off. They did have a scrimmage, but that is not the same as real game action.

Good luck ladies and I hope to see you all in CBus.

Coach W has helped both programs out in a huge way (boys and girls)...Girls well we all know what hes done for that program. But how about the boys? He made his kid into one of the best players in Ohio, i bet we dont see that at Hoover for a long long time to come, we were just blessed as fans to have had the Wackerly family come into the Hoover community and do the things theyve done....i would hope all of you would agree...

Another big win for the girls against McK. Congratulations girls and Coach W. I wonder if your 20 minute disertation in the locker room sunk in. Indications are that it did. Lets hope that the girls can get two more and take a trip south to Cbus. GOOD LUCK next week.

The girls play tuesday vs Cleveland JFK, then if they win they play friday vs the winner of Wadsworth/Mentor. Id like to see a Hoover/Wadsworth rematch, and i wouldnt doubt if there were 3,000 at that game, bc both communities support their girls well. Lets keep cheering them on, and hope that we play our best. Good Luck Lady Vikes!!!

almost 3 hours to game time...im glad we play the early game...cant wait!! :) Go Hoover !!!

Way to go girls! Great job on the victory against JFK 78-47. Lets take this season to the "O" in Colombus. Bring home another trophy. Go Vikes!

Congratulations, To the 3 girls making all state ( Brittany Orbin 1st team....Amber Witt 3rd Team....And Stephanie Gibson....Special mention. ) Good Luck to all of you.

Thank you for being so much fun to watch this year girls. You provided us with many evenings of entertainment. Enjoy your time off then work hard this summer to get to where you really belong in Columbus. Amber we will miss you but all good things must come to an end. Enjoy your career at Canisius and good luck to you. Don't let one game tarnish what was a great year. Once again thank you very much.
