GCL Coed 2024

No, Mueller left Fenwick in horrible shape, his reliance on transfers that didn't grow up at J23 or going to Fenwick games led to a mass exodus. Monroe is a public school they still have talent. It will be a 3 year rebuild, like I've said since they hired Cranford, he'll get 8th graders wanting to come to Fenwick and graduate just like he did last time.

You continue to ignore my consistent prediction that Fenwick will be off until they have some time to get more talent and nobody in this thread wants to read you bashing a a group of 16-17 year olds that'll go 3-7/4-6 so for the love of all things holy cut it out. I didn't lose sleep over the Franklin loss and you lose sleep whenever we win a big game. It's weird, you might want to see a therapist.
How are the little Falcons looking?

Any info on the CJ game? Only saw the final score.
Very similar to the game last season despite the disparity in scores. Hartley was definitely more physically dominant, but I wouldn't say they dominated CJ. Still... Google satellite suggests that maybe the tennis courts should be replaced with a better weight room, ha ha They had some decent sized guys but they needed better speed and technique. In fairness, the team was more physical this year than last year.

Hawks punted once - it went negative one yards, lol. It's a recurring pattern. Scored touchdowns on every other possession. An entire eyrie of Hawks running backs sliced, diced, and julienned the Eagles behind a solid offensive line. Sorry for the mixed metaphor there.

Eagles lost their composure to a degree with at least critical personal foul that ended a good looking drive. Too much jawing going on with both teams. And too many penalties for both sides - all fairly called in a game with an unusual number of picked up hankies.

A good comeback for the Hawks after falling totally flat against Ursuline. Some of that was that Ursuline was significantly more physical than Hartley and Hartley likewise with CJ. Hartley still struggles to maintain mental and physical intensity when either behind a lot or ahead a lot. Kids can be funny that way, and it's early in the season. Ursuline game was way back in August, and Hartley is always unpredictable in August.

Maddox-Ringer gave the Hawks defense fits once CJ had prodded enough to find weaknesses. Hawks couldn't find the slippery little guy, and he dashed past them with ease. QB was pretty good too. Assuming he's related to the Manley who played for Coach White at Thurgood Marshall. It's a good system that works well with the right mix of kids. Without getting too deep into the sociology, CJ will eventually gel and should do well. On paper and not watching any of the other teams from the girl's league - they should beat everyone but maybe McNick.

Looking ahead at Week 4

McNick will beat Bacon by however much they want to. I hope Bacon doesn’t decide to drop them moving forward. I’m glad PM is back on their schedule too. Bacon and PM just need to find a way to be more competitive instead of running from it.
Trotwood and Alter seemed to have similar amount of unfortunate luck. Should be an interesting game.
I refuse to think Badin and Alter won’t get better as the season goes on. Their kids are too blue collar to give up and they are too well coached.
Unfortunately for Fenwick, Aiken appears to be as surprisingly solid as Carroll. Even with a weak SOS.
CJ will literally lay on Franklin this week.

Alter got pantsed by Taft down in Cincy. Next up Trotwood. Very few coaches have more insights into an Alter game plan than Graham. Best thing the Knights got going for them vs Rams is 0 Carpenter. He gone so fewer chances to whiff tackles.. Last week the playbook was relatively feckless and the defense couldn't compensate.. In the past Alter has won w/o QBs who couldn't throw a lick so all isn't lost and playoff berths have become relative gimmees. DIV allows teams with 1 or 2 featured athletes to win a lot of games. Trick is to figure out how to get them in space whether it's freeing up a key lb or calling the qb/rb # 20x a game. Should be real interesting to see how the staff adapts to life w/o a true competition vetted qb. Season will out.

Coed Week 4 ( with assist from Drew Pasteur):

McNick 35 Roger Bacon 13
Carroll 28 Northwest 14 ( Carroll 4-0?🤔)
Alter 14 Trotwood Madison 7
Badin 21 Bishop Ready 14
CJ 30 Franklin 14
Fenwick 20 Aiken 13

Good week for the league? Alter game is concerning with who TM has played (and kept it close) I’m not optimistic

Looks about right. I could see Ready pulling an upset and Alter better find some offense.

Solid. Would be shocked if the rockets gave up 2 scores unless it came in mop up duty. Alter/Trotwood a toss up, same with Fenwick.

Coach O. usually leaves his no.1s in for a series if they are up big at halftime then plays the JVs so the final score sometimes isn’t indicative of the gap in talent. This is a rivalry for Bacon so they may very well give McNick a game. He’s never going to put 70 points on a team like Anderson did to their opponent last week.

when was the last time Bacon won? I’m assuming when Kiner was there? When Bacon left the Coed, did they ever stop playing?

Not certain. Bacon did win Kiners senior year. There may have been a year or two where they didn’t play. I’ll have to check on that.

Update: Bacon didn’t play McNick 2020 (Covid?) but last beat the Rockets 36-13 in 2019.. RB was 10-2 that year I believe Kiners Senior year. So McNick has won the last 3.

Looks right. Fenwick's going with the freshman QB tonight, he'll be a good one but could be some growing pains.

McNick 10
Bacon 6 Half

Rockets shooting themselves in the foot so far. Bobo missing some open receivers which is unusual for him.

6 for 6.🏈

Week 5
McNick takes on another former Coed foe, Purcell. They have a common opponent - KIPP, who PM just beat 18-16. McNick had running clock on KIPP at half 2 weeks ago.

Badin takes on Hughes which will be a route. Could be a good opportunity for Badin to find some offense.

Carroll will likely be 5-0 as they take on an always reeling Talawanda squad. When was the last time Carroll was 5-0?

It’ll be a tough week for Fenwick who has Mt. Healthy.

CJ takes on Edgewood who Badin beat earlier in the year 17-7.

Alter takes on Bellbrook which should be a good game. Bellbrook is in the same D3 region as CJ and McNick.

Should be an another good week for the coed before league play begins.

My Week 5 take (with assist from Drew Pasteur):

Carroll 20 Talawanda 14
Mt Healthy 28 Fenwick 0
CJ 30 Edgewood 16
Bellbrook 20 Alter 14
Badin 27 Hughes 6
McNick 35 Purcell 7

Coed goes 4-2

Last time Carroll was 5-0 was 2018. Before that is 2012. In 2007, they finished 9-1 in regular season. Haven't done that well since.

Assuming you are referring to Massie as the little Falcons. They are 2-2. Have a tough road game against undefeated Harrison and may drop under .500 Fenwick is also 2-2. This would have been a great year for Massie to reclaim the Falcon Bowl but once again they were to afraid to schedule Fenwick.

hmmm............i guess a win is a win is a win...........doesn't matter the quality of opponent. So you are right. BUT, might want to glance at the fantastic 50. Drew nails it every year. We will see who hosts a playoff game, well, who has a playoff game
