GCL Coed 2024

Alter have your attention yet? Or was putting a running clock on Wyoming not good enough?
You aren’t understanding my point. Everyone knows Alter is historically great. They’re always battle tested. It didn’t take beating CJ for people to know how good they are. I had Taft Massie and Alter as the top 3 in the region this year. 2 of the 3 remain.

Irwin went there, not me 10”.
Really hit the nail on the head with Clinton Massie. In a key battle of rich vs poor, mcsurleys overrated and outdated offense failed when it mattered most. Hopefully Massie can save enough money to hire an analytics guy or staff that understands offense. Also need to get some harder teams on the schedule. Congrats on the huge upset Indian Hill!

So what happened to Badin? Looking at Stat sheet on the Coed site it appears MH had a good day passing the ball, over 300 yds? (Edit 288yd)

Badin struggled offensively all year. Their D had an off night and once that happened the wheels fell off. I think Badin had 4 turnovers which is uncharacteristic of that program. MH out played them in every facet of the game.

Seeing both I would say MH is a slightly better team this year. Not knocking Badin just felt like MH was extremely dominant, one of the better teams I've seen from the Owls and they've had some good ones.

Too much has been made of the qb situation. Alter played " up" out of conference. Larger truth is that this year's team has some gamers, but no gamebreakers. Ok for the region DIV, but this squad doesn't pass the Alter eyeball test.. Going back on Domsitz pt 2 can casually recall a number of QBs w better system skill fits. So the lack of backup position depth is only 1 factor. Some years are better than others regardless of tradition, legacy, rep. Post a 3 and 2 in GCCL and go into playoff maybe win a couple.
Well they've won 3 in the playoffs now and no game has really been close. Even if they lose in the regional final versus Taft they've made it to final 8 in Ohio. That's quite an accomplishment in my opinion based on the injuries they have dealt with this year.....

Anyone know why?

I went to a couple games the past two years, sitting in the stands it seemed like the parents or admin weren’t really supportive.
I was suprised with the orginal hire.

I think Earl did some good things there but I know that parents/admin like to see the ball thrown more.

I think CJ is a top 5 job in Dayton because you get good talent, have good facilities, and you play in a decent conference where you should be competetive every year.

Thought Marcus was on campus and coming back?
Bingo. I think I hinted at this a couple weeks ago.

Look two things can be true. Earl is a good football coach and he wasn’t a good fit for this job. I think CJ was in a bind and needed to hire someone quickly last go around so they went with Earl but I don’t think he was their first or second choice.

That would not suprise me at all. He was in wayyyy over his head at Beavercreek.

They created a new job for him paying him a lot of money. I think it was too much for him and I think he realized that.

Just curious how he was more "wayyy over his head at Beavercreek" vs Miller at Fairmont when he started with that dismal program?
He took a job at the school that was like an admin job. They had him going to home visits, going to other schools in the district, and other things that I do not think he expected.

He had a lot on his plate. He lasted 2 years and resigned from coaching and from that job.

I think he can coach at that level but I think it came with a job that was way more than anyone expected.

This is no slight to his coaching at all.

So is he going to coach at CJ again?

I have no idea or any connection to CJ. He is working in the building according to a poster before. If that is the case, it makes sense for them to hire him

didn't the ad want to be the head coach too? id assume it be colvin or the AD

Carroll has some really nice equipment and good-sized kids at the school, they should be able to be competitive with a good coach right?
I don’t think so. I don’t see them having success in the near future. Yes they have a good enrollment and some nice facilities. But they don’t have football dudes in the hallway. They are happier winning the league in soccer and cross country than they are winning league football games. I know they used to have peewee programs but those may have fallen apart.

hmmm, a good football coach can create a football dude, but who knows last time they were good was 2007-2008 when Bartlett was the head coach.
