GCL Basketball 2019/2020

You are correct but all were told they would get meaningful minutes . . . I'm merely pointing out that Kremer is not the saint that everyone thinks he is. He is not honest with kids. Just man up and tell the truth early on rather than making promises. This has been going on for years. He's a used car salesman.
Could not disagree more- understand you are bitter because your kid couldn’t cut it, but maybe time to look in the mirror. Clearly the kids getting playing time are the best players- the program hasn’t missed a beat when those players left. Also there were issues beyond playing time “promised” for a couple of them, but that’s not for us to discuss on here.
Kremer has been coaching for a long time- he knows better than to promise playing time to anyone, players at Moeller earn it- period.

Ya, Gopher thought his (her?) son was going to be the next Jordan and Peyton Manning. That didn't happen. He (She) been blaming Moeller ever since. Always someone else fault.

Do I believe the coach probably made some affirmative or "if" statements about playing time - Yes

Do I also believe the kid/family should have had more self awareness of what they were competing against - Yes

In these situations, brutal honesty is the best way to go. This is why college coaches are ruthless - it's better to be completely honest so kids can weigh their options more transparently.

Let's also not disparage the kid. Just because he couldn't crack minutes at Moeller doesn't mean he's not a good player. The kid just wants to play, and if brutal honesty pushes him to play somewhere else, everyone wins.

Could not disagree more . . . son could cut it and played in college. You really don't know much about Moeller basketball with your comments.

Right... you have bashed the school, the staff, the leadership, the teams at every turn on this site. Not sure what your anger is if your son was a starter on the Moeller basketball team and went on to play at a D1 school. Or were they not, as promised?

This guy is clueless- How hard is it to figure out that out of the 20 or so freshman who make the team only a few will be playing their senior year? If you feel like your kid was promised minutes and then they don’t get them- why? They aren’t putting in the mediocre players and sitting the great ones are they? So if this guy thinks his kid was promised something and didn’t get it then it is logically because his kid wasn’t as good as those who did play. But to him that means the coach is a snake- whatever, hope the kid has more sense than the dad.

Is this the year someone gives Moeller a run in GCL? Elder will be much improved as they have 3 solid classes that will contribute on varsity this year and St X had a very good JV team last year.

Moeller lost alot. Have they re-loaded? I know they still have some studs in the program but it seems they might be vulnerable this year.

I think we witnessed the administration of very valuable lesson in GMC football this fall: if you want to be the champ you have to beat the champ. No one was close to Moeller, last year, IN OHIO.

Bacon and Purcell leaving GCL for MVC in all sports for 21-22 school year. What does that do to the rest of GCL co-Ed school? I’m hearing McNick may follow... can’t imagine they want 45 minute plus rides for all away games.

Update from GCL
Moeller- despite gaff from SVSM still dominate by beating Chillicothe and national powerhouse St. Andrews episophical but a tough match in enemy territory on Friday, has to still play GCL x 2, and Turpin

La Salle- maybe the best team since 2011, if they can pull it of Friday they could be a threat for state, has to still play GCL x 2, Hamilton, and Oak hills

Elder- Bumps on the road here and there, but beat some solid teams like Walsh Jesuit and TCC, most guys had to finish football, have to still play the GCL x 2 and SVSM

St. Xavier- Nice Youth coming together, having a tough strech of games though like Toledo Rodgers, CovCath, and GCL x 2

Every team has a case to beat Moeller

The Lancer arena is about to be buzzing on Friday as Lasalle plays Moeller as an unexpected 10-0 vs 9-1 matchup. Btw, the same scenario happened in 2004 when the 19-0 Lancers played a red-hot Moeller team and Justin Orr hit a game-winning buzzer-beater 3 to win. That Moeller team had been called one of the greatest teams to ever take the floor in Cincinnati with Andrew Brackman and Josh Duncan on it. The headline in the Enquirer on Saturday, January 24, 2004, screamed out that La Salle shocked nationally ranked Moeller as Justin Orr hit a three-pointer with:07 left to win 52-51 and catapult the Lancers to the #1 state ranking in Ohio.

What happened in the Moeller versus St.VSt.M game? What gave them the edge? Was it their PG, for starters?

Friday is a toss up- never assume a victory going into the steam box Lancer gymnasium. Edge to Moeller, but expect it to be very close
