Garfield Hts. D-3 District Rankings #6

Please let me know any changes that I should make on weights, teams, or divisions, if you have any inside information.

I love doing these rankings, but as it has been pointed out before, they are just for fun. To any wrestlers who read these and feel that they are ranked too low, you may be right.

I am bound to be wrong on many of the rankings, but fortunately they have absolutely no impact on how anyone will finish at any tournament this season or any other year.

1. Austin Shepherd- Norwayne (6th state)
2. Gabe Mathias- Waynedale (5th district 2018)
4. Joe Viront- Tuslaw (6th district)
5. Blake Rising- Mapleton (6th district 2018)
6. Keshaun Clark- Rittman

All at the same sectional, and all 5 ranked in the state at borofan too. Tough weight for that sectional. I wouldn't be surprised if anyone not in this 5 (or maybe even 1 or 2 of these 5) to move to 132 or 145.

To be fair, borofan does have Rising at 132, but even if he truly is at 132, that's still 4 of the top 6 out of GH at the same sectional.

Clark is the wildcard here I believe at 138. Shepherd is the favorite, but has been injured for most of season he has also wrestled some at 145. Clark has been wrestling really well as of late and could see him sliding in at 2 depending on seeding and where he ends up.

He wrestled 152 at the EOWL Tournament. I not sure if it was just for that tournament, or if he's staying up for the post season.
He was back at 145 for Regional Duals. Not affiliated with the program, just believe that EOWL was the only tournament all year he was up at 152.

Seeing him wrestle at 2 different tournaments, he would be a very small 152. There are some 138s as big as he is.

126 Damien Skelly had a 1st period pin over Ryan Hancock at the Orrville Duals. I know this is a deep weight hard to pick.

When do the Waynedale boys get their fare share? We been kicking butt all season but we got boys underranked. Look out for 145-Herschberger and 152-Shaw. They been pushing each other all season.

And then you got the big boys. 195-Cam Jordan and 220-Kane Murray. Aint nobody wanna wrestle with those beasts.

Gonna have some good old fashion wrestlin with Tuslaw and Mogadore. Been a challengin us all year. Roundin out with Rootstown and Norwayne, got some fresh blood lookin to upset.

And don't forget Markulin from South Range. He been trainin for this showdown.

Herschberger, Shaw, Murray and Jordan all have their work cut out for them if they want to wrestle in Columbus. They are part of a solid duals team but these are the individuals. They have some serious work to do. Good wrestlers from a good program and I'm sure fine kids.

Wayndale will have a couple placers. 160 and 170 could both place top 4 not sure how many others they will have. At the state duals in the finals, 195 was a ff not sure why wrestled semis, 220 was a loss to a part time starter and 285 lost by fall so I'm not sure how those "beasts' will do individually at state. I dont believe Milan will have a 220 or 285 place at state. Not sure how wayndale will do at state individually I'll guess 5 total, but they ran into a buzzsaw team wise at state duals in the finals.

James, I mean applecreek, You do realize that Boro even put some of your wrestlers who got beat last weekend ahead of the people who beat them. I personally prefer Lowes report but appreciate both and both give you (Waynedale) a lot of respect.

Going back and looking at this district, One thing that stands out to me, is how difficult the Northwestern Sectional is, there will be good kids left home after this week that if they were in the southern part of the state would be going to state.Adding Tuslaw to the Northwestern sectional made it even more difficult. Really wish the Northeast district would take a look at things a little better when rerouting teams to what sectional.

Well done. You pulled me out of retirement. Anyone that knows me, KNOWS that I wouldnt post something STUPID like that. It actually almost pissed me off. Then I realized someone is just trolling.

170 was an error on my part. I never moved Garza up after beating Hershberger at their conference tournament. I caught it late Monday night after releasing it. Garza dropped from the #2 spot a few weeks ago after losing to Trent Osborne from Madison Comp, but he likely would have been back at #2 if I caught it before the release. I thought about fixing it since I caught it so quickly myself, but decided to keep it since I have never made ranking changes in any of my past 10 reports. The final week of the regular season is always chaotic for me with the 30+ conference tournament previews and results, as well as trying to write/put together my almanac. I just hope this was the only big result I missed ?

Rising will be at 138. Going to be a fun Saturday of wrestling for that weight class. He just took the Firelands Conference Championship too.

I've watched this seniro play out many times before. One Sectional being loaded while others lacking depth. It has proven more than once, how crucial it is to enter Districts as a one seed from the weaker Sectionals.

agreed, depending on their sectional matchup I suspect the 4 out of NW at 138 will go 3-1 or 4-0 round 1 at districts.

the 5th place kid at SW could have finished 1 or 2 at other sectionals.

this is why i said earlier that I wouldn’t be surprised if 1 of those 5 ends up at 132 or 145.
