Favorite Thanksgiving Side Dish

What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Mine has always been dressing/stuffing, however, I can think of some other great ones.

And, yes, I am one of those wackos who actually likes cranberry sauce out of the can! Bring on the choices and prepare to mouth-water! ?

I love the whole Thanksgiving meal, so it would be hard for me to pick. I like canned cranberry sauce, too, but we usually have cranberry relish. It's fancier, I suppose.

If I had to pick, probably the wine. ;)

kielbasa
If that doesn't qualify then I'd say smooshing the corn into the mashed potatoes. That's one side dish.
Used to get Stanley's on Stickney Ave. Burped it for days. Started getting it from Zvotski's on Sylvania Ave. about ten years ago. Way better. They have the original and "Mike's" recipe which is the owner's buddy who always wins the people's choice award at the cook off each year. I always get both.

Worked with an old Pollock who told me to boil for 15 minutes, put on a sheet pan in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes covered with foil. Take it out, cut it into 2" and 3" pieces. Crank the oven to 425 and put it back in for 10-15 minutes uncovered to brown the outside. Thrown in crock-pot - finger food for days.

Her name is, oh wait, you said side DISH......

Stuffing is absolutely disgusting.

I will go with mashed potatoes, no doubt about that, and for those who do the instant taters you are Un American, and probably voted for Biden.

My mom's stuffing, but I haven't had that in 20 years. My wife did come up with something close last year, though.

Nowadays it's a tie between my wife's collard greens, and my celery stuffed with cream cheese with french onion soup mix stirred in.

My mother in law makes sweet potato casserole. Easily my favorite side. We also fry a turkey each year and I love eating the skin. My dad has this secret seasoning he puts on it and me and my siblings fight over the outside pieces with skin still attached.

I have always found it strange that some of the best things to eat by taste are the things the people in the know say are bad for us to eat.
I've looked forward to that skin for years. Three years ago on our Thanksgiving week at the Las Vegas Hard Rock hotel and casino we had the Thanksgiving dinner at Mr Lucky's. Having our after dinner coffee and the waiter asked how things were and did we want anything more. I more jokingly than anything said I'd really like some crispy crunchy turkey ? skin. He said I'll see what I can do. Short time later he returns with a plate full hot from the fryer. Perfect ending to a great meal. Stuck my head in the kitchen and gave the chef a 10 spot.

yams with that marshmallow on top and green beans with the fake crunchy onions and mushroom soup. I like those and I don't care who's got a comment about it. The best side is a side of Detroit Lions.

Traditions are:
In the morning, walk the old neighborhood to remind myself where I'm from and why I'm thankful for it.
Listen to Alice's Restaurant.
Don't have much family left but go visit them and eat. Watch football through closed eye lids.

Bland,,,you have to taste how Black folks do their macaroni and cheese :). Well the right Black folks because another African-American proverb is everybody can't make Macaroni and cheese or potato salad.
It is true that my idea of mac-n-cheese growing up was Kraft out of the box  However, I do have some experience with the black folk version and know the difference. Definitely better, but it's still a relatively bland dish, no matter where it's served or how it's prepared.

And you can best believe I keep my mouth shut about that when it is served to me. ?

I hope you prefer them mashed because that's usually how they appear by the end of a game.
