East Liverpool n Wellsville Football

Potters and tigers lost close games. Carrollton was better than I thought and so was wellsville. Some bad luck in their game, they were right there the entire game and didn't quit. Interested to see how the season ends up for these teams. Both teams have great numbers, potters with 55 or so and tigers with 31. great to see for both programs.
carrollton..never great..always somewhat solid.lol

Which sports?
Wrestling. Having greater numbers equals more weight classes filled, more options for drill partners, more students becoming interested via word of mouth. It was the same when I coached high school football, more numbers means more depth, better reps against the practice D/O, having a JV team to get actual games against other schools, this stuff builds programs.

And this is only magnified at small schools

Potters head to Quaker land, I think they get on track this week. 1 more non conference week for EOAC an conference games begin. Just saw Southern Local plays Thursday evening as well..Any predictions for coming week?

Salem by 2 scores followed by 2 running clock losses. Potters staring at 0-5 to start the season. 3-7 looks to be the best they can do….

September 6th, 2024
WESTERN RESERVE at Columbiana 7:00 PM

Bridgeport at EAST PALESTINE 7:00 PM

STRASBAUGH FRANKLIN at Leetonia 7:00 PM

WATERLOO at Lisbon 7:00 PM

Southern at  EDISON 7:00 PM

United at  CRESTVIEW 7:00 PM

Wellsville at CALDWELL 7:00 PM

Valley Christian at BROOKFIELD 7:00 PM

Another tough week for the EOAC , who has a total of 4 wins the 1st two weeks. The defeated opponents? Newton Falls, Minerva. East Canton and St Thomas Aquinas. That 5 or 6 max wins for that fearsome foursome by the end of week 10
I was prepared to pick United, but a 3 point victory over East Canton put the brakes on that.
I think Southern has a shot over Edison, but I also thought they had a realistic shot at 2-0 the first 2 weeks.
Valley has never beaten Brookfield, even when they had good teams

WR over Columbiana
EP over Bridgeport
Leetonia over Strasburg (they played a close game last year so they should have a shot)
Waterloo over Lisbon
Southern over Edison
United over Crestview
Caldwell over wellsville
Brookfield over Valley

Your picks are probably spot on.

Sarcasm? I almost went with strasburg but they only won by 6 a yr ago so if the bears are going to get a win then this (in addition to wellsville and maybe lisbon depending on how they develop this season) should be one the few games they could potentially win

No sarcasm intended.
I think the teams you picked have a decent shot at winning.

League Play begins this week, how does League stack-up? Win less Wellsville and Southern Indians battle for a win, should be good one.
Wellsville probably only beats Leetonia but Southern (unless the cupboard is really bare) should rack up a couple Ws…Leetonia, Wellsville, Lisbon, and maybe EP and Columbiana

This week

Southern running clock over Wellsville. Southern has played the hardest OOC Schedule of the 8 teams. I watched the Edison game on Channel 9. Southern looked strong in their running g game, but slow on defense. They will be too physical for Wellsville

Valley running clock over Leetonia. Too many offensive weapons for Leetonia to stand a chance.

United over Columbiana by 2-3 scores. Could be closer depending on the health of the Clippers QB

Lisbon over East Palestine- pickem. I think Lisbon week 1 dismal performance might have been due to early illness which caused them to cancel week 2. East Palestine hasn't started 2-1 since 2016. With 2 running clock victories I'm sure there's renewed enthusiasm in Bulldog country. They have a real shot at victory
