Do we have any senior leaders this year?

I believe Josh Nettleton was selected as the first captain. He seems to be a good choice to lead the team, as he will take over the quarterback position this season.

Nettleton QB - Captain
Nau - Guard 2 year starter Captain

Could be Captains
Robbins - LB/ Rb started at LB last year
Cochenour - DE/Te started DE last year
Cross - DT 2 year starter

Other returners
Feinberg - W/R DB
Spalding - missed last year with knee injury
Arnold - missed last year back injury
Merten - Starting Center last year
Freday - G & MG
Nau - younger brother of ronnie - played until ankle injury - junior LB
Bucar - junior Lb
Allmen (sp?) (seth) started last 2 games DB/RB - junior
Dahl - Kevin - started LB soph
Dahl - Andrew - Kicker/WR/Db - Senior
Stauddinger (sp?) lineman - junior

I know I missed a few but thats 16 that started most or some of the season or would have started last year except for injuries.

Help me out with who I missed.

(SR) Josh Nettleton (QB/DB) & (SR) Ron Gnau (Interior Linemen) are two very good choices for 2005 team captians. It is my understanding that the other team captians will be chosen during camp.

Failed to mention:
Returning (SR) letterman - Zack Meleg #72 (Interior Linemen)

All the juniors listed were starters throughout the entire 2004 season. They are the nucleus of this year's team. I've heard Spalding is healthy and ready to go.

It is my understanding that John Arnold (SR - Linemen) may not play in 2005 due to a previous back injury that required surgery.

Sophomore/Freshman involvement 2004 season:

(JR) Allman (DB/RB) - starting unit - 2 games
(JR) Bucar (MLB/OLB/NG) - starting unit - 9 games
(SO) K. Dahl (MLB) - starting unit - 5 games
(JR) S. Gnau (OLB) - starting unit - 1 game
(JR) Staudinger (DL/OL) - starting unit - 3 games

Let's not overlook the upcoming Sophomore class - possibly a starter or two among them!

Sophomores that have lettered in recent years:
Curt Lukens - 00'
Alex Ramsey - 01'
Ron Gnau - 03'
Kyle Robbins - 03'
Seth Allman - 04'
Jordan Bucar - 04'
Ken Staudinger - 04'
Kevin Dahl - 04' (Freshman)

Forgive me if I overlooked someone!

Hoover Pride in 2005!

Forgot all about Zac Meleg - good player

If dahl (andrew) doesn't play this year that is a loss.

I have heard a few kids that didn't play the last 1 or 2 years are coming back out - any insight?

The senior class was predicted to be one of the best, although they have lost alot (injury, transfers, indifference) there is still alot of talent left, Plus a good junior class, Plus a very good sophmore class -

Let's go Vikings!!!!!!!

It looks like Hertler's nephew VanVranken (lacrosse goalie) will be playing this year. If he stays healthy, he could really help out the pathetic line most likely playing OT. Speaking of which, wasn't there someone who rotated in with freday at guard last year? or was he a senior?

I will believe it when I see it that Dahl is not kicking. Although I think Alex Boyjko (#80) would do a decent job if that were the case. Apologies if I spelled his last name incorrectly.

29 days til kickoff!!!

I know for a fact that Dahl isn't playing and Bojko is kicking. Andrew wasn't comitted enough. I know this because i know a few coaches on the Hoover staff.

Alex will do just fine kicking, IMHO. Dahl was good, but it isn't the biggest loss in the world.

I agree with you there. From what I hear Bojko is a more accurate kicker than Dahl. Dahl might of had the leg to kick a 50 yard field goal but the 30 yders. are what come up more.

I have seen the kid kick for the last 2 years and your assessment is pretty good. I am wondering if Nettleton will do punting again or if they will find someone else since he will be QB. I have heard alot of rumors about Hoover running the spread offense. I actually think Nettleton would flourish under center like prototypical Hoover QB's. I think some shotgun would be good. He has the size similar to a Cerreta, but will have to see how much poise he has. I would have liked seeing him getting broken in at QB last year instead of the 2 that were better suited at other positions.

Who can we expect to be RB? I know of Kyle Robbins, but I am not sure he will play both ways all game? I know Bertsch went to NW, but he was too injury prone.

How is Bucar doing in practice this year? I know last year he was playing hurt all the way through the season. He had a problem with his shoulder last year. After a couple games, it took until Monday or Tuesday to get the feeling back in his arm. I know he was supposed to get it taken care of in the off-season, but I haven't heard anything else about it.

He delt with the pain and numbness throughout the entire season only to miss one game when the doctors wouldn't let him play. He's got guts!

Captains

Josh Nettleton - QB
Ronnie Nau - G
Kyle Robbins - LB
Tyler Drake - NG

Alternate - Zac Cochenour - DE

Congrats Guys! Let's Go Vikings!
