Anyone know about Badin ?
Badin plays in the very tough GCL coed league and played a pretty strong OOC schedule. Their defense is legitimate against the run or the pass and their D Line is big and athletic. Their LBs are big and athletic and they don’t blitz too often and their DBs are all solid. Their offense is a spread with a very good QB who can run or pass and a tough senior running back who is quick and shifty. Their O line is not huge, but they are strong kids who will fight you tooth and nail. They lost their starting center a few games ago so they’ve had to do some shuffling, but it seems to be working out ok. The kicker is money, not sure he has missed anything this year. They don’t have any “superstars” but they do have a lot of very good football players and are extremely well coached. They made a ton of mistakes against Bellbrook in the first half but the defense kept the game close. Bellbrook had one long touchdown drive that was aided by a fourth down pass interference penalty that put them in the red zone, other than not Badin bottled them up pretty good. This time of year every team is good, tell us about Granville

Fast Rbs, Qb has a arm , good LBs , very deep punter,Rbs are hard to take down once tackled

Yours ?
I’m looking Mcnicholas the best team you beat ?
I would say Bellbrook. Twice. But McNick was also a regional finalist that gave Massie all they wanted. Alter and CJ are always good wins. And Ross was a DIII regional finalist last year and we're solid again this year. Badin always plays a solid schedule with 6 or 7 quality teams each year. Badin D has surrendered 12 points in 4 playoff games this year. Well coached. Tough kids. Biggest weakness is to many penalties IMO. They've overcome the penalties all year but need to cut them back

What makes the the Badin Defense so dangerous is, that they have 6 kids on that Defense who will play D1 or D2 football next year. The DE, The Nose Guard, the 2 inside LB's and the 2 corners. The safety is a sophomore who leads the GCL-coed in interceptions. Last night Bellbrook ran out of plays and playing calling was very predictable at the end of the 2nd quarter on.

Not doubting you the D is very good but 6 guys playing D1 of D2? Do they actually have offers or are you speculating?

No one on Badins D has a D1 offer, I suspect the DB Moore will end up with some this spring (hes a 6'2 junior corner #11). Some tough kids and good football players but the core of the defense will play D2 or Naia, if they play at all.

Ok I thought that to be the case. McNick has a pretty good team and I haven’t heard of any Seniors even playing D3 after graduation. The QB is wrestling at OU but that’s not football.

Tough loss Friday, sounds like Rockets gave CM hell. That qb is one tough sob, good luck to him at OU!!!

Yeah Massie is very good. Felt like I was watching the same team that beat McNick in 2013 and 2014 when my son was playing. I respect Badin and wish them the best going forward but I’m not sure CM isn’t the best D3 or D4 team in SW Ohio.

How do they pick the neutral sites for these games? Looks like Badin will have to travel about 2 hours while Granville will travel from just east of Columbus to just west of Columbus. Regional final was the same way. Seems to me like a fair neutral site between a Cincinnati area team and a Columbus area team would be Dayton no?

Granville 35
Badin 34
3OT
I don’t know if it will be 3 Ot but I like the winner

It is about 20-25 minutes more for Hamilton Badin
Correct. Just looking at the map it wouldn’t seem like an hour drive for Granville. My fault for not looking more closely. I would still like to know the criteria for picking neutral site games for the playoffs. It’s been a gripe down here in southwest Ohio for years.

The travel time possibly comes out in the wash, though, because Granville folks have to get through Columbus traffic (hope they don't unwisely pick 70w all the way through the capital city.)

Yes, I'm aware of where Badin is located as well.

I believe most teams, when making the state semifinals, would travel most anywhere to play. It’s usually the ultra spoiled gcl south fan base that complains the most.

Granville is 45 mins from downtown Columbus, if there is no traffic. So they are hardly "just east of Columbus".

That’s a surprising comment since Badin beat the Rockets pretty badly, at McNich no less. No doubt Massie is good but I don’t think they beat Badin and it doesn’t matter anyway

Granville doesn't play as tough a schedule as Badin and sounds like Badin has a superior kicker, other than that the description of Badin sounds a lot like Granville. Undersized kids who play tough and are well coached. The Granville QB went down with a torn ACL week 12. Some would say he was the team stud. Played some in week 13, but 2nd QB played 2nd half of week 13 and all of week 14 victories. Solid team with a really good RB and receiver and a QB who is getting the job done.

Certainly consider Badin the favorite, but would not be surprised if Granville found a way to win.

Just saw that Haley passed 2000 yards last Friday
From the looks it looks like Badin is a heavy run team

Only said so because of Badins close call vs Bellbrook. You know I picked the Rams to win state.

Bellbrook benefited from multiple mistakes by Badin in the first half that have been uncharacteristic for the Rams this year. Badin would have beat them pretty handily if they played a clean game

I have not seen Badin play this year but I can tell you this. Bellbrook was a very good team and Badin has beaten them twice. I saw Tipp play a few times this year and they were a very sound football team. Bellbrook beat them once in the regular season then destroyed them in the playoffs. Badin has been battle tested. I know nothing about Granville at all. You better have one hell of an offense though to put up points against Badin.

Trying to find consequential games that might tell us a little about Friday. Here's what I got so far:

Week 1: St. Marys over London, 10-7
Week 13: Badin over St. Marys, 45-10 and Danville over London 15-14

This one is a stretch...

Week 3: Monroe over Western Brown, 66-58
Week 7: Clinton-Massie over Western Brown, 42-35
Week 9: Bellbrook over Monroe 42-10
Week 10: Badin over McNick 48-21
Week 14: Clinton-Massie over McNick 28-27 and Granville over Western Brown, 57-49, Badin over Bellbrook 21-9 (and 17-7...week 2)

We do have a good offense I hope you can stop a very good RB and very fast defense
But I could be wrong
