I think that it is funny (and hypocritical) that teams were penalized by OHSAA for missing school for trips to play games yet, in their own tournament.... kids are missing school to play games.

There is nothing hypocritical about it. You can miss a day to play in a tournament in Ohio or the boarding states, Pennsylvania, West Virgina, Kentucky, Indiana or Michigan. The issue is missing days when playing in states that don't boarder Ohio. This not a new rule it has been place for sometime ow.

Disclaimer - the rule and punishment is in place. It needs to be followed and if not, then penalized.

That said, going forward, the rule is stupid and doesn't make any sense. (Can miss school days and play in state or boarding states and no problem. huh???).
And the punishment is worse than stupid. Let's recap:

- Coach gets caught recruiting. Recruited player(and rest of his teammates) get to participate in the playoffs and win a state championship and Coach is penalized by missing 1st two games of the playoffs(the early two gimme games).

- A team plays with an ineligible player. Team forfeits wins with said player.

- A team misses 1 day of school while playing 2 states away. The team is banned from post season play.

The middle scenario seems like the correct punishment for the penalty fitting the crime. The first and last scenario is a joke. And the OHSAA probably still wonders why people make fun of them and how they handle their business.
 
The rules are the rules follow them or risk the consequences. I didn't make them but I know them and will abide by them. I don't necessarily agree with a number of OHSAA rules but I will follow them so my team doesn't get punished.

Pretty crazy game back and forth battle coming down to the very end. My only gripe is the fact the SW district is playing a game at a below average facility in Centerville. When some districts are playing on college campuses. On top of it the top 4 teams in the SWO are 45-80 minutes away with 3 of the teams basically sharing borders. What a joke. The possibility of the two Lakota teams having to drive 45 minutes to Centerville is insane and no wonder OHSAA loses money during playoffs.
