dalton coach

Geibel was on the staff with Dial in 2022.
So Dial had the father of one of his two possible quarterbacks for the next season on his staff.........and he chose the other QB........even after the dad on his staff bought a scoreboard advertisement to pump money into the program.........Dial still went with Pearson at QB.....and the team went on to have their best season in school history? Remind me again why Dalton ran Dial out of town? Seems to me like Dial should have been pickled and bronzed and been given pretty much whatever he wanted after that. Do you know how rare it is these days for a coach to have the chutzpah to make a decision like that under those circumstances? Maybe lightspeed84 is onto something after all :ROFLMAO:.

FWIW.........I still like the new hire from a Dalton perspective. Their athletic administration and decision making regarding athletics has taken a major hit over the last few years. Many outsiders view the school's athletic department as being totally dysfunctional. I cannot imagine that there were a lot of top notch, experienced coaches on the applicant list. Hiring Geibel gives them a chance to have somebody with a solid reputation in the community that gives them some stability at the position for a few years. Geibel should have a pretty long leash from the administration as I am sure they are getting tired of hiring new coaches every year. The expectations from the community will be pretty reasonable too as most of the classes coming up through (other than the rising juniors) have been average at best as they went through middle school.

Forgoing the mine field (for now) of the 1st paragraph…how was Reid not “the Guy” last year? For all the reasons EVERYONE likes the hire…all of these niceties were as true then as they are now.

Did he apply last year?

I think the amount of humble pie that has been devoured by Dalton's school leadership has grown significantly in the last 12 months. I am certain that played a role in Coach Geibel's hiring now.

DID HE APPLY LAST YEAR?

WHY WOULD HE NOT?

Asking around about this situation, this is what I have gathered.

Dad's business is in Dalton but trains athletes in Orrville (from a variety of schools), Mom teaches at Waynedale, House located in Sugarcreek, now Dad is HC at Dalton. Do I have all the facts right/aka someone make this make sense for me.

Sounds like another brick out of the wall of a program who had it going really well but egotistical or untalented (or both!) decision makers screwed up. A tale as old as time.

They live in the the Dalton school district, no house in Sugarcreek.

Dalton really is jokingly referred to as the Ivory Tower in these parts. (And for good reason)

So I understand that the Dalton faithful are not familiar with the level of…chicanery…at play here…but as someone bird dogging this situation for almost 3 years….

THE WHOLE THING STINKS.

Even if he did apply last year, the school clearly thought Leek was the right hire at the time. I’m sure Leek painted a rosy picture and said all the right words about culture, legacy, youth development, etc etc (same script apparently worked on Wooster). Shouldn’t even be having this conversation about why not Geibel last year.

He didn’t apply last year. Because he couldn’t. At the very least Dalton couldn’t hire him w/o exposing serious rule breaking within Garaway’s program and the shockingly blatant violations that a particular Dalton family would be party to…

All Dalton’s Admin did was drastically change the life of one coach to acquiesce to one over zealous parent. (Outside looking in of course)

But you’re right. Probably shouldn’t be talking about it.

@CasualFan24 - Told. 👏You. 👏 So. 👏

IT STINKS

You serious Clark? They didn't have to sign a 2-year agreement? Probably could have afforded the pet friendly apartment on a 1-year deal.
