So Dial had the father of one of his two possible quarterbacks for the next season on his staff.........and he chose the other QB........even after the dad on his staff bought a scoreboard advertisement to pump money into the program.........Dial still went with Pearson at QB.....and the team went on to have their best season in school history? Remind me again why Dalton ran Dial out of town? Seems to me like Dial should have been pickled and bronzed and been given pretty much whatever he wanted after that. Do you know how rare it is these days for a coach to have the chutzpah to make a decision like that under those circumstances? Maybe lightspeed84 is onto something after all
.FWIW.........I still like the new hire from a Dalton perspective. Their athletic administration and decision making regarding athletics has taken a major hit over the last few years. Many outsiders view the school's athletic department as being totally dysfunctional. I cannot imagine that there were a lot of top notch, experienced coaches on the applicant list. Hiring Geibel gives them a chance to have somebody with a solid reputation in the community that gives them some stability at the position for a few years. Geibel should have a pretty long leash from the administration as I am sure they are getting tired of hiring new coaches every year. The expectations from the community will be pretty reasonable too as most of the classes coming up through (other than the rising juniors) have been average at best as they went through middle school.
