You spend too much time on Alabama Ave and not Elms Acres, Meadowlake or the card table at John George's or the Mayflower Village Buehlers liquor store. The recipe for tuffness is found there.Bad mix of stepping stone coaches and overly involved parents.
Dalton used to be a sleepy humble farming community, but it’s turning into the Tuslaw mix of wealthy people wanting land for no reason… buying golf carts to get the mail at the end of the driveway to get the mail/garbage instead of sending their kids down there to get it.
Once parents are willing to sit out on the Jimmy & Joe decisions and not hire flashy, good interviewers instead of actual coaches they can get back to business.

Has there been a big issue with parents in the Dalton football program? I have not heard many rumblings of this before this post. Most of the ire I hear from people in the know around the Dalton program is directed at the administration, school board, etc.Bad mix of stepping stone coaches and overly involved parents.

I saw Mikki Kanagy over on Fox Lake Road looking at property.*I think maybe the ire directed at the administration is the parent gripes I’m thinking of.
Regardless of who deserves it, it’s pretty trendy to blame leadership for all kinds of stuff. Sometimes it’s warranted, but usually a good leader can have detractors who respect them even if they disagree. Time is usually the best factor in determining good leadership.
Those people think they live in Jackson Township..... please, I would knowYou spend too much time on Alabama Ave and not Elms Acres, Meadowlake or the card table at John George's or the Mayflower Village Buehlers liquor store. The recipe for tuffness is found there.
groundskeeper willy looks like a retired Seattle Mariners player from 1977.
I have no dog in this fight and am intrigued by high school football town culture, complexities and drama, I feel like there has been grumbling about Dalton's program on this site for years. From what I have read this situation sounds similar to what happen in Loudonville in the early 2010's if I recall.Has there been a big issue with parents in the Dalton football program? dude will have Wooster in sub .500 purgatory, unless he has better talent across the board. Wooster loves mediocre footballOther than the kick to the stomach after realizing that Ray Leek never intended to stay at Dalton for more than one year while taking advantage of a cupboard full of talent and positive locker room culture that he inherited, Dalton does not really lose much in this deal. It is not that difficult to replace a Ray Leek level coach (slightly below average to slightly above average). The coach they really could not afford to lose was pushed out the door last year. Coach Leek was interviewing for coordinator jobs in the area before taking the Wooster job. Not trying to denigrate the Wooster program in any way, but this is not some top shelf program that Ray Leek is headed to. Turning Wooster into a consistent force on the gridiron is a monumental challenge. If he ever had a playoff run at Wooster as deep as the one he had at Dalton last season, they might have a parade down Bowman Street for him in Wooster.

The time that I've been around the program, Dalton parents like the kids have had to go with the flow and have not put up much of a fuss even though its tough having a revolving door of coaches. I think it says a lot about the resiliency and character of the kids which is backed up by how they have produced on the field and court. Here's the revolving door: football, now 3 coaches in three years and basketball 3 coaches in the last 4 years. In the last three years the football team has made it to the regional semifinals, the state championship and the regional finals. In basketball, they have won three straight district titles.Other than the kick to the stomach after realizing that Ray Leek never intended to stay at Dalton for more than one year while taking advantage of a cupboard full of talent and positive locker room culture that he inherited, Dalton does not really lose much in this deal. I LOVE Dalton. Many relatives in Dalton and lots of my young days hanging out at the Block and Barrel with my cousins. If I named names of those relatives, you would know who they are (not because of prominence or anything... It's just that small of a town). The time that I've been around the program, Dalton parents like the kids have had to go with the flow and have not put up much of a fuss even though its tough having a revolving door of coaches.
