Fisher found a week 10 game 🙌
Close. Manchester
Good reminder that week 10’s vs Manchester, Amanda playing woeful Lucas, meandering contracts with Martins Ferry and BC sitting open in week 8 can easily be remedied by simply shunting LU over to the Cardinal…

But, thankfully, the Good Old Boy administrators on the Buckeye side see the wisdom in preserving Bloom taking the bulldozer to the Lions and all the externalities of 2x7 as good for everyone!
M-S-L! M-S-L!

I agree. The stepping stones are there. Going from 1-9 to 4-6 in a year isn't easy. I can only expect they can go up, right?
I think so. Having someone like the guy they got who I foresee staying for a good stint will allow them to actually grow. With how things are going around Columbus, the trajectory of Circleville is upwards I think it will reflect in all the Pickaway schools imo Westfall and Logan Elm should improve

Roundtown under Sharrett will catch some serious momentum if they’re in Region 12 for D3 or Region 15 for D4.

I've not even logged onto the site in about a month. I gave up on it. Trimble for the most part isn't very welcome on there. In fact, if your not named Ironton or Wheelersburg, your not welcome on there for the most part. Nothing matters but those 2 schools.
If only West and Logan’s heydays were twenty years later.

One's taken a step back, the other has fallen off the cliff.

Logan has a long, long ways to go. Going to the OCC was stupid. They should've tried for the LCL or TSL. I already knew the TVC wouldn't welcome Logan if they tried again.

Going to the part where we retrospect SEO football the past few years. It's definitely taken a step back from a few years ago. New teams merging. Some traditional powers taking steps back. Some traditional powers returning to their glory days.

Eastern Pike is a great example of a new team merging. (Duh, their program only started in 2015.) That's besides the point. I'm sure if you asked anyone in Beaver 5-7 years ago if their program would have a 22 game regular season winning streak, and a regional runner up in the first 10 years they'd probably say your out of your mind. That's good for the area though as it's another team benefiting SEO ball.

Miller is another team on the rise if they can build off what they started last year. 3 more weeks of practice can help underclassmen. (The Burr Oak Bowl needs to be played again.)

Athens took a major step forward last year, Nelsonville-York returns the bulk of their cast next year.

Fort Frye took a step back in the numbers category, but the results stayed the same. They should be loaded next year.

Waterford has a bright future ahead of them. They just need to get over that hump of beating Fort Frye, though.

Trimble has some key pieces returning and I'm thinking we could take another step forward this year as we haven't been Trimble since 2021.

SEO football is trending upwards I think. Slowly though. Ironton broke through and got SEO their first title in 7 years. Hopefully they start to come more often.

They’ve turned over every stone imaginable in Chieftain land.

SEO’s success that is ‘here to stay’ will be in Divisions V-VII. An example would be Washington County: Waterford is closer to winning a regional than Marietta is to winning a week 11.

Chillicothe, Logan and (gasp!) Zanesville have become invisible. In some regards Jackson actually is ‘right there’ with ‘Burg and Ironton, but they are also the epitome of SEO struggling at the highest school size scale. Very very good program — very very tough region yearly. Take a look around in D4, and it’s kinda hollow. Waverly and FU are the best playoff opportunities long-term.

That's an uphill battle that isn't worth fighting in that conference. It's a lose lose situation for the kids and the coaches as the talent gap between the OCC and Logan is stupid.

Let's not forget Nelsonville-York got Logan into the playoffs. (Thanks NY!). When Logan didn't deserve a spot.

Marietta's situation is far beyond the field and that goes to the school board. They ran out a coach who seemed perfectly content staying at Marietta and building a program. I think Marietta's last winning season before this year was 2002 when they went 8-2.

Jackson is a program that's been knocking on that door for so long that when they break through then they'll make some serious noise. 2022 they were just 3 points away from a regional final appearance against Watty before they started their 2 year and continuing run.

Zanesville, Chillicothe and Logan are situations where there's no light at the end of the tunnel. They've hit rock bottom and they don't even see the light down there. Zanesville having 3 coaches in 3 years is horrible for a once proud program Grandstaff in a way built. Zanesville was knocking on the door in the 2013 and 2015 seasons. Both very close final four games. (Heartbreaker vs Loveland in 2013. One hell of a game!).

The question you can say with them is, "if not now, when?" When will the right person come in and turn them around and have them back to the proud programs all 3 once were.

Both of you have said it pretty much perfectly. The larger schools listed Chillicothe, Logan, Zanesville, Marietta, Athens, unfortunately are not close to Jackson in regards to competing on the state stage and winning some playoff games. While some like Athens and Chillicothe are seemingly trending upwards I don’t see it happening this quick.

Waverly, Unioto, FU, LE, Circleville in D IV all in the same boat as they all may have a class that breaks the mold and makes a deep run (I think Waverly circa 2020 and 2021)

Mostly the SVC schools aren’t going to make any noise imo. Paint Valley has lost all its momentum of a team that was the best out of Ross county.
Again though I agree that D V-VII will be where the staying power for SEO is. Ironton, Wheelersburg, P West, Trimble, N-Y, Lucasville Valley. All teams who from the area have made deep runs and are still very competitive and or in the tracks to becoming competitive again

It’s Ironton, Wheelersburg, Jackson all bearing the flag of SEO on the state stage

Valley in their heyday was quite good. Been a minute!!!

Valley the past few years hasn't been your typical 3-7 pushover.
I agree. The lack of comparable programs in the area hurts. The SOC II on a strong year (Burg, West and Waverly firing on all cylinders) is brutal for a decent Valley team, but they wouldn’t benefit from the SOC I unless all of those programs leveled up at the same time.

The SOC I would put Valley in an Athens like situation if they were to drop down. Stronger teams getting bounced earlier due to the lack of competition. I feel like the SVC would be good for Valley hypothetically speaking.

There’s also an appreciable difference between Valley’s recent 3-7 streak and the falters of Northwest & Oak Hill in the SOC II (as promotions ‘up’ from the SOC I.)

The Yorkville you’re thinking of isn’t related to Nelsonville-York.

Yorkville, OH in Jefferson County did have their own school. It consolidated with Dillonvale and Smithfield in 1972 to become Buckeye South. Buckeye South (along with Buckeye West and Buckeye North) became Buckeye Local.
Adding to this history lesson, I believe Buckeye South and Buckeye West consolidated and became
Buckeye Southwest for a time in the late 1980’s. Buckeye SW then consolidated with North to become Buckeye Local.

Other little schools involved with this consolidation include Adena and Warren Consolidated. Heck, there may be more that I’m forgetting..Brilliant, Tiltonsville, Mount Pleasant…they were all part of this.
