D7 R25 2024

I honestly believe it will come down to the extremely explosive offense and smash mouth defense that jfk has to take them to the state semi final and bring home a huge regional title

The what?
what do you mean the what? jfk is highly explosive on the pass and run side of the ball with their assets like Fred Bolchalk, Jaylen Murray, and Lamarcus Provitt. And the defensive side met be banged up but they have that playmaking d line, guys like ian odille, and the young lbs there to step up and make plays.

Ah. I see.
They’ve been saving it for playoffs…

Alright.

man this crop of K posters that came out post-Pro feels like the seventh lineup overhaul of Foreigner

If you’re questioning something they’ve been displaying all season then you clearly haven’t been watching them enough to comment on a take like this from a guy who knows his stuff.
The ominous is often lost on the agnostic.

I like JFK’s & Cuy Hts rosters just fine. But lousy schedules with uninspired results over the last 2 1/2 months are hardly enough indication to proclaim such confidence.

What is with the greater Youngstown area? You guys only watch YSN and then wonder why the clocks don’t stop running week 11 and 12.

Hoist pull your joke strap up. If Kennedy is healthy there wont be a team that can compete with our speed In this region. Mark m

dan thank you. Labrae is no joke. Garfield would beat most. and LE will make a lot of noise. Kennedy is going to fine.

A lousy schedule? This schedule was fitting and some would say tough for this climbing d7 team. elaborate that comment you made about the uninspired results. Buente has turned the record around and bumped the team back up to its winning ways and I don’t get my information from YSN. I physically follow the teams, compare them, crunch the numbers, and give my take with my information.

Whats the signature win? Garfield? They went 9-1 against the 96th easiest schedule of 106 D5 teams. Crunch those numbers.

1st round!!!!??? EP is the 623 ranked team of 706 in all of Ohio. You sweatin’
I think we can all agree that it would be nice for K to eliminate BCWR in the end, at least. Gotta pull for that outcome, no matter how much internet crow that may be had to be eaten in the process.

Kennedy's schedule was dumbed down for this season and it worked better than probably they even expected. Mogadore is as bad as they have been in probably 25 years and Garfield apparently forgot how to play football early in the season. The rest of the schedule quite frankly stunk and I am including Labrae and LUE. Kudos to the Eagles for turning it around and getting 8 wins this season. They will beat EP, but Monroeville may be the worst possible second round matchup they could of gotten. Not that I think they are really any good but as I have stated earlier, Kennedy will struggle mightly with their offense. "Smash mouth" isn't the term I would use for their defense. They have very good speed but the line play will be their downfall.

In Warren JFK's defense, let's take a look at the "dumbed down" schedule everyone keeps talking about.
They had 6 common opponents from last year - no fault of theirs on who is down or what not.
-They were dropped by Champion (2-18 past two years) and replaced them with Liberty. Not that Liberty is a juggernaut but compared to Champion, far superior.
- They lost Southeast to conference shift, added Labrae. Overall, I'm saying that's an upgrade especially this year.

Next two are serious subtractions with South Range and Perkins being replaced with Lutheran East and Grand Valley. With the mass exodus of talent and coaching staff, this is not the team that can/could compete with those programs at this point. It had to be done, playing those programs was worthless for both sides till Warren JFK can build back up to near what they once were. The kids had no say or any fault in grown adults destroying what they had there, I'm sure the kids are well aware they are not on the level of SR and Perkins, both of which are among the favorites to win in D4 and 5.

So dumbed down may be a bit extreme. They have 6 of the same, 2 better, and 2 far less. No one disputes that. They damn near didn't have a team last year, went 2-7, do you think SR and Perkins were really looking forward to playing a 2-7 D7 team? I have to imagine depending on contractual language they will look to upgrade from Grand Valley next year.

I see people hyping them and tearing them down, are they anywhere near what they were? No. Are they dangerous if/when healthy at full strength? Yes. Will they win the region? Doubtful. But I would take them behind Hillsdale, Malvern and Monroeville for sure.

Going from losing 20+ players, a great staff, a disaster of a 2-7 season last year to go 8-2? Hats off to the kids there.

I myself like the Hillsdale/Malvern winner to get to Canton and earn the right to be smacked around and sent home by ML by 40.

This math is home cooked.

None of the statements on the schedule even remotely approached criticism of the kids.

JFK didn’t play a single school north of #340. (Per Fantastic50)

Being excited about 8-2 vs. said schedule is approaching Lowellville 10-0 territory.

With JFK’s roster and how awful this region is, anything can happen.

What more could you want?

(St. Paul has a better win than JFK or Cuyahoga Heights)

Agree. Especially if they can find “it” again. Now, can Hillsdale win out playing as…boring(?)…as they have looked for the last 5 weeks? I think that wrinkle keeps this interesting.
The region is bereft of juice.

• only one WCAL team this year, (yes even I admit this is a problem)

• the Mahoning Valley’s football scene in the small school ranks isn’t as good as 2-3-5 years ago

• the institution that is NSP football has waned in recent years

• those metro Cleveland D7’s that had generally strong reputations have faltered

• a lot of the small publics are just not great

• Lucas is having its waning year

• the program that basically lead the line of R25 went through its upheaval, and attempts to restore at least the notion of “the K is back” get undermined the moment it becomes a matter of mixing ego’s vs pride — all the while the team’s true success is not immediately dying on the vine after 2022 (and instead being able to sustain continuity despite much of the calendar year 2023 going to hell in a hand basket)

I don't disagree with single thing you said... I was simply giving my opinion on the "dumbed down" schedule. 6 were the same as previous years, 2 better, and 2 worse. I never said it was a difficult, and I certainly wasn't celebrating it, simply said good for them in starting to turn it around. I even stated they were doubtful to win the region as some have suggested. I thought I posted in there that Hillsdale was my pick to get to Canton?
I never meant to suggest people were criticizing the kids, more so that petty adults destroyed what they had.
For the record, I think St Paul's win over Monroeville may be the second best win in the region outside of Hillsdale over Dalton.

Have a good day.

Here's a good article about the Monroeville - St Paul rivalry, over the years and this past week's game. It's rivalries like this that makes small school football great. There aren't many venues left like Marsh Field in Monroeville, where the fans are lined up right to the edge of the field.
