D2/R6 2025 Official Thread

Just too soon.
In 2004 we had a similar incident with a recent graduate. He was a walk on at BGSU and collapsed at practice and passed away unexpectedly. He was a very good friend of mine and was someone everyone looked up to. It’s a really crappy situation all around and I feel for the kids at Avon.

Of all the main contenders, believe only Wadsworth brings back a starting QB. 2024 had a lot of senior QBs (Avon, AL, NR, AW, Highland, OF, Amherst) so will be interesting to see kids step up. First few weeks could look vastly different than Week 11 on as new signal callers get some games under their belt.
North Ridgeville QB is a senior this year, 3 year starter and offers are starting to come in.

Agreed. Won’t come close to challenging Avon. Neither will Avon Lake. Just different times right now and one poster is enjoying every bit of it.
I don’t want to see Avon sink down to the pack, of course, but I would like to see the rest of the SWC rise up to try to meet Avon. AL has no excuse and NR has every available tool. Elyria needs a coach. Amherst can be better. Midview is getting a bit too small. Berea-Midpark seems content with mediocrity under Hunek. Falls is close.

Avon should stop being soft and make that trip up to D1 for a real challenge tbh

Enrollment puts them in D2 and they don’t get any competitive balance bump, so they are in their true division.

I don’t know that the D1 state semis and final would be appreciably better than what we usually see in D2 every year, but the region path would be tougher in D1/R1 as opposed to D2/R6. Going through Ed’s and Mentor to get out of the region would be challenging.

I’m interested in hearing about the NWO teams for 2025. Anthony Wayne has become a reload program, but they did lose the great QB. St. John’s Jesuit slipped last year while St. Francis DeSales rose. Will that trend continue? It seems like joining the Catholic school league with the Michigan schools has helped the Toledo area Catholic schools. Can Sandusky get prepared enough by an SBC schedule? Can Fremont Ross turn in a 7 to 10 win regular season, like in the old days? Oregon Clay has trended in the right direction, but they are losing their QB to Pitt. I assume the TCL schools will not challenge, other than Start? Northview is down again, but can Southview make some noise again?

Regions are fairly immaterial, it's a small pool past that. One way or the other, you were going through Hoban or TCC so not appreciably different than going through Mentor, St Ed, St I.... It's all year dependent.

Looking to expand the thread?

I bumped the NWO thread for your convenience.
I saw that, but I also posted about the NWO R6 teams in this thread. We used to have a lot of NWO posters in here a few years ago, but they have dwindled.

AL coach is running out of excuses as atleast it’s how I hear it from parents. Glad my boys play basketball, baseball and soccer and not football so I don’t have a to worry when they get to highschool bc the coach is losing good football players to rugby. In fact, Westshore Rugby a mixture of AL, Avon and surrounding communities just won the club state chant yesterday. Lots of good football players on that team from what I hear.
