Final Comments:
Cornerstone has established a tradition of basketball excellence over the last several seasons and even though they have graduated a bevy of talent, the pursuit of excellence will return this season with new determined players.
The Patriots are young, inexperienced, and small, but they are naturally athletic and aggressive. What they lack in experience and stature they will try to make-up for with heart, hustle, and pressure defense.
Junior, Co-captain Marshae HIl is the lone returning starter from last year’s D4 District Finalist team. The young Patriots will rely heavily on her leadership and strong play this season. Sophomore Mylia Bell is a skilled guard who plays with great intensity and will help Hill in the back-court. Sophomores, Kaila Jones and Dior Hollingshead are also projected to start this season. With added experience both Jones and Hollingshead will be a handful to keep off the attack and off the offensive boards.
Freshman post, Dekotah Barnes is certainly a player to watch! She’s a gifted athlete who has worked extremely hard this off-season. She will give the Patriots a strong presence in the paint and at the same time be a huge challenge for opponents to defend in transition.
Junior, Mylove Walker is one of the most skilled and crafty guards on the team. She’s recovering from an injury, but as the season progresses the Patriots expect her to be pushing for a starting position. De’asia Davis, Isabella Wall and co- captain, Rori Tedrick round-out the rest of the varsity team and will be instrumental to their team’s success.
