Colin Kaepernick asked for $20 million to play in AAF

Go Buckeyes
Alliance of American Football co-founder Bill Polian said Thursday that the startup league had reached out to Colin Kaepernick. Now, comes word from Barry Wilner of the Associated Press that the former 49ers quarterback asked for $20 million to consider playing.

Kaepernick’s representatives did not immediately answer a message from the AP.

Kaepernick would have provided a boost to the league, but his contract demand doesn’t fit with the financial structure of the league. All players get the same three-year, non-guaranteed contracts worth $250,000.

He lost all his credibility and even though I do believe the NFL owners colluded, there is now ZERO chance he wins his case now.
I dont believe he put this sort of thing out there for NFL teams....that woulda have gotten out.

The only collusion that kept Kaep out of the NFL was between his agent and himself. He demanded assurances that he'd start and he wanted starting QB money.

Other than this AAF info that just came out, where has it been reported to support your comment?

Only thing out there that remotely backs your stance is when the Broncos tried to get Kap in a trade but wanted him to accept less money, which he declined to do so but that was when he was still with the 49ers and there was no reason to think he should accept those conditions.

During this whole fiasco if there were hard evidence he and his agent has been turning down offers then it would have come out.

I'd really like to see him play with all this time off, wasn't very good his last couple of games.

I think we can logically come to the conclusion if he asked the aaf for 20 mill he probably was in the same ball park when trying to play in the NFL. I think the 20 mill was for 3 yrs.

He had an opportunity to go to the CFL, turned it down. Ravens were interested till his gf shot her mouth off and made him even more toxic. Obviously made insane demands to the AAF. Wouldn't play for less than 10 million/yr. in the NFL....Foles is the only backup QB in the entire league in that neighborhood. Have to tailor the offense to his skill set ( not conducive to a backup role) .

Plenty of reasons, many self inflicted, why he isn't playing beyond "collision".

I dont think that is a logical conclusion.

If that was true, if he had been contacted, or put that out there to teams that was demands for a contract then his collusion case would have absolutely ZERO merit and he wouldn't have gotten a dime.

The fact that the ONLY reports out there are from when he was still a 9er and a possible trade and restructure his deal to me believes we can logically come to the conclusion that he wasn't getting any offers and requests.

As I said before, when a QB with an 8/14 TD/INT ratio and hadn't thrown a pass since 2011 gets a contract then I think it is logical to come to the conclusion NFL teams were colluding against him.

It did. Please note the dates on the articles. Some back-story first - http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...-kaepernick-wants-18mplus-annually-from-49ers

Then the harsh reality after the league figured out how to defend him - https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KaepCo00.htm

You should notice that not only did every advanced stat go downhill after 2013, but some of them went downhill immediately after his first significant playing time. He was the first good-sized starting QB with respectable speed to be a threat to cut and run. He was not very accurate. Once they figure out how to contain you, and you aren't accurate, you have a problem. Then he changes his diet and workout routine apparently, because he got thinner. Not good if you want to run the ball.

Here's a dumb opinion, but it goes with $9-10 million/yr demands as a foregone conclusion - http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=19023320

He was a delusional dumbazz that opted out of guaranteed money to be loved as a starter somewhere. A man's got to know his limitations, or at least his friggin' agent should. He wanted to recapture 2013, and then he got embarrassed when everybody running a team knew he would be lucky to even be the 3rd best QB in any of the 8 NFL Divisions. They wanted to pay him accordingly, and he couldn't accept it. Pretty simple.

Then he's looking to blame anything but his own limitations for the harsh reality that he isn't good enough. Maybe some lawyer comes along, or he gets wise to the end-game on his own after listening to TV race-baiters. It couldn't be more obvious.

His silence was worth more to the NFL than his cause or his beef were to him. Bottom line. Ho' got paid.
