Cleveland Browns 2024 Edition

So Andrew Berry is saying at the live press conference that Watson has had a set back in his rehab.

Yet he would provide absolutely no further info after taking five or so questions about it.

Why even bring it up now then?

He brought it up so that when Watson starts next year and is once again dismal, he can say that the qb has not fully recovered and still needs more time, so be patient. He will express confidence that Watson will once again regain premier status.

I'm thinking it may mean Watson won't be ready for the start of the 2025 season, and will never play here again.

I assume that was to lay the groundwork for him not playing another snap for the Browns.

The first thing that I thought when I saw that news was, I wonder which vacation that setback happened on? I got a little tired of seeing all these videos of him living his best life while his team gets its brain's bashed in week after week.

I think Sanders could be an okay NFL QB. That being said, I don't want an okay QB with the second pick in the draft. He doesn't have elite arm strength and he's not particularly fast or elusive. He has decent touch and okay arm strength and can make plays but he'll take time to get to the level of an average NFL QB if he gets there at all. You'd then also have to take on all of the attention that comes with the Sanders.

When he skips the combine, has an average Pro Day and the scouts get to pick through all of his tape, he may not even be a consideration at the top of the draft.

Sanders = Vegas Raiders. It's a perfect match.

Every mock has sanders and Ward going top 3.
Which gives us no obligation to be one of the idiots picking Sanders that highly. A mock draft also must attempt to predict the desperation and stupidity of NFL GMs. Please, make a note of this.

He won't ever be more than a back-up with a PiA papa. Hell no.

Maybe Jimmy just made a back room "never heal deal" with Watson ? He may be that dumb.

Maybe Watson will blackmail Jimmy, and they will simultaneously shoot each other in a "pay me again" deal-gone-bad when Watson spends it all on "massages"? If you've never dreamed......

Wonder if the Browns have some kind of insurance policy on Watson to cash in on if an "injury" ends his career. If they don't, then they are dumber than we all think they are.

Oh heck yeah. Jimmy would endorse the check right over if Watson would wag his foot like Al Czervik’s arm making a spot for Noonan. He cares more about the cap space than any price. Gotta have a winner on the field for the new barn.

Don't take a QB just for the sake of taking a QB. If you do your work, and the guy you like fits your system, then draft him. Otherwise fill other holes on this roster. We need a LT. I personally like the Graham kid from Michigan. Or trade down if you can acquire assets and still get the guy you want.

Look who the Jets are interested in for their GM post:

The Jets have asked to speak with Kansas City Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi, according to ESPN. They also requested Los Angeles Rams senior personnel executive Ray Farmer.

"had a setback" = "I had my assistant GM run over his leg in the parking lot"

They are just building the story now as to why he won;t play next year, while building in possible excuses as to why he isn't playing in case some absolute moron wants to trade for him.

I wonder how much pressure Jimmy is putting on Berry to draft Sanders so he can sell jerseys and get publicity. Did he learn anything from the Manziel circus?

I wonder if Jimmy will take a call from the Sanders while they're on the clock.
They better have the info way before that IMO … I just don’t see the Browns wanting him … too much like DW … and I don’t see the Sanders camp wanting to come to Cleveland …. a trade is the most likely scenario IMO

Rex the toe-sucker is comin' back !

Thay'll tell him to , under no circumstances, draft the kid. I can see them trading down to the Giants or Raiders, teams that he wants to play for and who do not draft far below the Browns.
By the time the draft gets here it's possible the Raiders will be able to get him without trading up.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have our answer. Don't expect to see Mr. Watson next yr. He will have multiple "setbacks":

The Browns, however, have Watson's contract insured. This means they will see some financial relief for time missed by Watson over the past two seasons.

The Browns are in a league of their own when it comes to incompetent management but the Jets are getting closer every year. Could argue that over the last 10 years they've been worse. Of course, our guy Jimmy won't let that title go away easily. Without the Watson trade, the Jets would be the clear favorite in mismanagement. Over the last 10 years they have been terrible, at least we got to see some bright spots.
