Hell I did the league preview as I do every year and picked them to finish 4th LOL!You are the only one that mentions Taylor.
I don't know where the "hype train" comments always come from.

Of the results, I'll take this as the most impressive followed by IH laying the wood to Bacon.Deer Park 40
Belmont 0
Final
I agree 100%. Another team starting a soph. @ QB in the CHL. Sellers looks to be "the dude" for DP.Of the results, I'll take this as the most impressive followed by IH laying the wood to Bacon.
Clearly Belmont is a bad team but DP is coming off a year where they lost to Finneytown, lost some significant talent, and breaking in a 1st year, young HC. Terrible or not, no one expected The Park to beat Belmont like they did. They didn't squeak by a bad team or get lucky. They did what you would expect a "good team" to do against a bad one. Game was 33-0 at half. It's still extremely likely they will struggle against the usual suspects, but this is as good a start as they could hope for and a little confidence can go a long way.
15-0 burg leads Taylor.
Game didn't get started until after 9pm bc of multiple weather delays
Correct...pick 6 hurt. Was 0-0 at half. D was playing tough.Sounds like Taylor was driving leading up to the late pick 6 that changed the course of the game. Frustrating night for the Jackets?
Pasteur has Harrison by 23 over IH. Seems like a lot but he’s usually pretty accurate. Harrison did just beat East Central? Defending Indiana state champion, for what’s it’s worth.CHL Week 3:
Wyoming at Bethel-Tate: WYO is back and do not hand IH the trophy yet. WYO by 41
Norwood at Deer Park: DP runs away. Norwood just terrible. DP by 27.
Lockland at Finneytown: Might be one of the worst match-ups of the year. Bring your pepto-bismol if you watch this. FT by 1
Side note: if FT does not win this, they will go 0-10 on the year.
IH at Harrison: Game of the week. This is the test to see if IH is legit contender for Region16. Harrison is favored heavily but expect a close one. IH with the statement upset by 2pts.
Madeira at Purcell: Purcell lost too much. Madeira is better than we thought. Madeira by 13.
Aiken at Reading: Reading with a bad loss and appears to be not very good. Reading wins here by 8.
Woodward at Taylor: Hype train did not get rolling this year. Usually around this time the Taylor junkies are talking about someone who is great and how this is the year before pissing down their leg again. Taylor back on track by 37.
Mariemont at Williamsburg: Both teams are way down. Williamsburg is too much though and wins by 11
I’d like to know more about that “selection process” and if that would be legal in Ohio.My son and I went and watched Beechwood play last Friday against Campbell County. Got a nice tour of their facilities. It was close before Beechwood pulled away and won 42-20. As far as school sizes go, it would be comparable to watching Madeira play Sycamore and beat them. Beechwood is approx. 120 kids per grade level, an Open Enrollment school, a Blue Ribbon school and the 5th ranked Public high school in the state of KY, and almost every sport - boys and girls, every year, is in contention for a state title. Football has played in 21 state finals the past 50 years. Even the band has state championship and national finalist banners hanging everywhere. They do charge 'tuition' for out of district kids and have a selection process in place for academics and behavior and of course, athletics, as a very large percentage of OOD kids are athletes. I told my son on the drive home what we watched was basically a small school All Star team.
The reason why I bring this up is what prevents teams like Indian Hill, Mariemont, Madeira or even Wyoming, from using this as a guideline and template to improve their athletics? You don't have to reinvent the wheel and clearly open enrollment isn't hurting Beechwood's academics, the neighborhood is still an affluent area in NKY, the overall community involvement and support within the district is phenomenal, and they win. When Wyoming won their football state title, the vibe and energy in the neighborhood was incredible. Same when Deer Park's basketball team won their state title. To me there's very very little to lose and a whole lot to gain.
My buddy is a JH history teacher and the HC for the junior high program. All I know about their process is they do an audit on a kid's academic and behavior record at his/her previous school. He got his rear end chewed last spring cause he prematurely told a kid and his dad they wouldn't be able to get in because the kid had too many discipline issues at his previous school. Beechwood was still working for a way to get him in and it wasn't a final decision at the time of his discussion. The kid ultimately got approved but decided to go elsewhere. Almost all the transfers come in during their HS years. Hardly any show up prior.I’d like to know more about that “selection process” and if that would be legal in Ohio.
wyoming has high property taxes and an income tax to support the school district. there is an upcoming levy to pay for renovations to the 3 elementary schools. open enrollment would permit non-district families to receive the benefits of these investments without paying for them. that would result in resentment. and i think it would be unfair. wyoming sports are terrific, even if there is only an ocassional state championship run.My son and I went and watched Beechwood play last Friday against Campbell County.
