Canton McKinley Football 2024

If I am not mistaken, the last heavy recruiting by Ohio State's Woody Haves, pertaining to Canton McKinley football players, occurred in the mid-late 1960s, with Bulldog players such as, Nick Roman, Jim Roman and Rocco Rich. There were a few in the 1990s, such as Peterson and Martin, but over the past 25 years not much to talk about. Hmmm.

I've posted this comment before.... if Hall and his coaching staff oversee another melee, and the Superintendent and BOE don't make coaching changes, then just down the program indefinitely.
I concur. If there is another fight with Massillon, or any other team honestly, then Hall should be terminated.

Another thing I don’t understand about McKinley over the past 15 years is why they have been adverse to lining up under center and utilizing a fullback and TE and playing power football. It’s one of the reasons they were so successful with Brian Cross. Doing that this year would eliminate the high snap issue. Imagine running in the I formation with Nino Hill at FB and Johnson at HB. Put Dante McCellan at TE. That would me a nightmare for any team to defend.

Why is it that everyone knows and understands these things, but the coaches have no clue. I don’t get it!

Stubborn coaches refusing to implement a system that utilizes the talent versus systems they are familiar with. This offensive coordinator is going to shove the Texas system down their throats

Exactly! Not only stubborn, but very one dimensional in their schemes. In Hall's case, it reflects his lack of experience in a head coaching situation.

I've always said when the game of football became a game of passing first from the shot gun McKinley has been 3 steps behind. They've had a couple of really nice passing teams but overall IMO McKinley has been an average team at best. Coach Johnson brought that offense to McKinley. Just go back to power football and if people think it's boring to watch so be it. Sometimes I think if some college coach out west started an offensive scheme with the quarterback standing on his head within 5 years every school in America would be running it.

No wonder nobody is at the games. We're all in Florida. 🙂
LOL. I actually live in Gulfport on the water. Our little town got devastated. I'm all right. It made it over my seawall about halfway up to my house but got no closer. My boat and dock are OK. My friends on open water got devastated. Lost docks, boats, jet skis, anything outside. 2 feet of water in their houses. Sure not good. Glad everyone on here is safe. We should all plan to hook up somewhere and watch the Massillon/McKinley game this year.

and I hear you on this

however please go back and read in the Cantonrep archive if you like

at the end of Cross' run.....McK fans were chiming into Todds sunday special about not enough players getting to play....why doesn't McK spread the talent out on the field and make people match their speed.....why do we just run the ball......

yes this is true. so here we are. I am not a fan of the new offense myself however that is a conversation for a later date.

for now it is all GO PUPS!!!!!!!

McKinley has won 14 of the last 15 games with the Vikings. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 24-6.

Lets go Pups...Lets go Pups...Lets go Pups!!!

Only need to be one point better, usually works out to be the same thing when one point gets a W
Y2h is salty that I predicted Green to beat his Vikings by 14. Of course, Green did not cover my prediction, but they did win the game.

Obviously, y2h is really into moral victories.
Hopefully coach Baum and the team doesn't have his mentality.

I agree with you DD, winning the game is all that matters. Obviously, y2h feels that it is ok to lose, as long as you lose by less than an anonymous internet poster predicted you would lose by.

Such a dumb copout. If you put money on the game I'm sure your bookie would accept at least they won for the payout.

You could admit Hoover is better than you thought or the pick was just illogical hatred of Hoover and not based on any factual evidence but you don't have the character to do so.

Wow thanks I was wondering about you. Sorry about your friends that has to be a royal pain in the butt to deal with. I'll take the snow. :)

You still haven't reminded me who won the game? Did I pick the winner correctly?
You mentioned a bookie, but I don't gamble, so I wouldn't owe anyone anything. Again, did I pick the winner correctly?

McKinley by 3 TDs tonight. Hoover doesn't have the offensive firepower to match up with the Pups.
Hoover didn't need it in the 1st half. Game tied at 14 as Hoover scored on a kickoff return and a fumble return. McKinley had a TD and then FG (same drive) taken off the board due to penalties.

237 total yards for McKinley to 50 and it's a tied game. Incredible oh and 70 yards in penalties.

I have never seen a McKinley team like this.
I've seen a lot of games over the past 57 years or so and contrary to what you might read McKinley has had numerous 6-4, 7-3 years and a couple of loosing seasons usually because of having average team but I don't remember ever a McKinley team that consistently has over a 100 yards of penalties every game.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened last year. I know that week after week, there were post-game comments about double digit penalties. Just don't know if they were for more than 100 yards.

IMO this is one of the main signs that very little coaching is actually being done.
