No
Dover, Howland Canfield and Louisville will only play each other in football . The other 3 will only play Massilon in football. . All other sports they all 8 play each other.
If not Massillon, you could put Chaney in
Ok. I gotcha. I was looking at the football part of it.

With the way playoffs are currently set up, there really isn't any reason for teams to play each other unless it is a personal issue between administrations. I get not wanting to over schedule by 3 or 4 teams, but 1 or 2 will make you better in the long run and really only change playoff seeding. Some schools may want the home playoff game over a mid-season challenge though. I would rather see Fitch play local teams than long travel out of state or Canadian teams. Fitch also can't schedule down and expect to compete with the top D-2 schools in the playoffs. With Canfields success the last decade or so, I don't think they are "scheduling down," but that's just my opinion.

Canfield's schedule ranked 11th in strength of schedule (in D-III) this year even with teams like East and Howland that really struggled on their schedule. If you discount East, their schedule would have ranked 4th in D-III, just ahead of Ursuline and just behind Louisville. The top 3 teams combined to go 3-27 this year (that includes #1 Benedictine going 0-10 because they gave up part way through the season). So that is what happens when you schedule up, a team that I believe was probably in the range of 10th to 15th in all of D-III went 0-10 (discounting the fact they gave up).

I think for Canfield their main reservations to playing a tougher schedule is just injuries and depth. And to a lesser extent seeding/home games and bracketing.

I wasn’t real familiar with him. Where did he coach before ?
I know he was up in the Cleveland area for awhile. Shaw, and Maple Heights were a couple of the schools he was at. I believe he played for Mooney. Don't remember the years though.

E. Cleveland Shaw, Warrensville Hts., Maple Hts., Elyria. I want to say he was at Painesville Harvey also but I'm not 100% positive on that.

He is a 1986 Mooney graduate. 1st team All-SVC RB as a senior in the 1985 season. Went to Ohio U. on a football scholarship. His father Dave was a YSU HOF hoopster. He just passed away a few months ago.

Delvin Culliver
Heard the name before. IIRC, he was a candidate for the McKinley job back when Todd Filtz was hired and was the HC at Harvey at that time. Further research indicates Culliver also tried for the McKinley job back in '03 while head coach at Shaw when Brian Cross was the Pups' hire.

Best of luck to him. It just seems like a waste having 2 Ytown teams though. In both hoops and football it’s always 1 team is good and the other is awful. Not sure if that’s due to stacking 1 team or what’s going on. It’s just odd that there’s always such disparity between the 2 teams.

Mooney and Ursuline, too. Lately, anyway. Coaches attract players.

The Olmsted Falls game is a really good game for Canfield. They have won a state championship. They play is the SWC with the likes of Avon and Avon Lake. They are usually pretty tough. That will be a good game. I would actually like to see Fitch play Avon, Olmsted Falls, or Avon Lake. Those would be really good games and good tests.

WGH wasn't interested in playing Canfield, I don't know the details but perhaps the other WGH folks can go into the details. Ursuline and Mooney won't happen in football for obvious reasons. It is a shame they don't have Louisville on their schedule.

Avon was looking far and wide for a Week 2 after Medina decided not to renew. Fitch was a thought, but they were already scheduled fully I believe. They may have even contacted Canfield. Avon wound up with a home and home with Canton McKinley. Could try Fitch again in the future, though. Never know.

Well Olmsted Falls is likely almost as good as Fitch. So it is hard to say what the reasoning or situation is that Canfield and Fitch didn't play this year and aren't scheduled for next.
They’re a quality opponent, but they’re not Fitch

BTW simkon, who told you Harding wasn’t interested? Canfield AD or HC?
That is what I was told in the past by someone from WGH who I have no reason not to trust, I am sure Harding didn't suddenly change their mind.

I remember you saying awhile back, that Canfield had no interest in scheduling Harding
Yes it apparently was mutual that neither team is interested in playing the other for various reasons. But they are playing Olmsted Falls this coming season, and they are a top 10-15 school in D-II. So it doesn't really make much sense to be honest.

No, I wasn't talking about this year, or last year. I meant in years past. I don't believe Canfield wanted no part of WGH, a few years back. I'm sure Harding would have gladly played Canfield in certain years
