Started today, for me.

Minnesota crushed Georgia Tech 34-10 to get the Big Ten on the board early
Cal-TCU pretty boring so far..

Miami-Wisconsin tomorrow should be interesting
 
 
Maybe bowls should restructure to be more regional. It's pretty ridiculous to have Boise State and Boston College playing a small time bowl game at the Cotton Bowl. Were there even 30k there?
 
Apparently there weren't even 10k at that game, in a stadium that holds over 90k. I don't get the appeal
 
That Cheez-It Bowl last night was probably the worst NCAA football game I have ever seen. I was at a bar w/ the wife and it was running in the back ground, she thought it was a High School game. The QB play in particular was at an all time low.

Something has to be done about those D tier bowl games. As it was explained to me ESPN owns many of them so that they have live content to show during the Holidays, fans in the stands is not an important factor. The only other folks that make $s off of these are the sports books, maybe they move them all to Las Vegas and do package deals with their fans to fill up the casinos then give those traveling gambling credits if they actually go to the games.
 
There has to be diminishing returns on those games. Not even the fans of the schools seem to care. And now apparently Disney is trying to strongarm cable providers with another price hike. The bubble has to be stretched to the max.
 
Finally a half way decent game going on right now between Temple and Duke at one of the oldest lesser Bowls, the Independence. To bad its in the A-Hole of the south, Shreveport at a stadium that has all the charm of Dayton's Welcome Stadium.

Actual fannies in seats has nothing to do with bowl games. It's all driven by TV dollars and recruiting. Actually probably more recruiting. Somehow, some way advertisers pay big money to put the uninteresting games on TV where not many people will watch. But here's the key...unless you are the top 5% of the college football world (Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Clemson, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, etc.) then if you can tell a recruit we MADE a bowl game x number of years, it works! Also, if you do make a bowl game, it's an extra month of practice. The schools that didn't make it to bowl games this year, turned their equipment in at around Thanksgiving. That's huge for alot of programs.

I can only guess neither team must had practiced since their last game in the end of November.

Other than the teams have practiced for about a month, looking forward to this game, there may be x number of seniors on each team that are not NFL caliber players who'll never play another game in their life.

Next up from the Boogie Down Bronx is the Sears Disappointment Bowl featuring Wiscy & Miami.
 
Bad look for the American. Houston gives up 70 to triple option Army and Temple lays a goose egg in the 2nd of this one to get drubbed by a mediocre ACC team. Memphis also lost to middle of the ACC pack Wake Forest.

Wow! What happened to Houston's offense?

The good Duke showed up today. Jones was sharp and the decimated D over-achieved. Wake, another team that had many season-ending injuries this year, adjusted, improved and peaked at the right time.

I am blown away at how many injuries teams suffer in this day and age. :shrug:

I'd be very surprised if he isn't there past next season. Wasn't it just last year he had them in the top 10 and playing for the ACC Title? I know they were blown out by Clemson and again by Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl, but the U had fallen plenty before he arrived. They underachieved this year, but last season's Orange Bowl run had to have bought him more than two years. Isn't he also a Miami alum?
 
Just looked at recruiting rankings yesterday and noticed that Miami was ranked like 35-40 depending on the site. I was somewhat shocked
 
Loved that final TD by Wisconsin to make it 35-3. The drive was 6 minutes and every play was an inside run. Just total domination
