North Shore drove down to about the 40 and then had a holding penalty to move them back to the 50. With 2 seconds on the clock North Shore threw a Hail Mary that that was caught in the back corner of the end zone. It was a spectacular leaping catch that was heavily contested by several D-ville players. It was a fantastic ending to a fantastic 4 days of high school football. 42,000 fans attended the North Shore game. Earlier in the day a crowd of 48,000 fans watched another classic in which Longview won the Class 6A Div 2 title 36-35 over Beaumont Westbrook.
All told close to 240,000 fans watched the championship games at AT&T Stadium over the 4 day stretch. I don't think any other state comes close to that type of fan support and enthusiasm. A legendary classic that displayed great talent, coaching, effort and a championship no quit mentality by both teams. Heck of a way to close out the high school season !
