Bearcats baskteball

A lot of Griffith and minimal, if any, Betsey. You may be right, Stix.

Slow start to the game but they’ve evened it up with UCF.

Very fitting end to an extremely disappointing season.

I'd take Day Day, Mitchell, and McKinley for next season and let everyone else walk if I had my choice.
I would add Jizzle James and Josh Reed.

I really like Skillings Jr. but he has regressed since his freshman year.

Finally some portal news for the Bearcats.

Kerr Kriisa (Arizona/West Virginia/Kentucky) and Sincere Harris (Illinois/West Virginia) both commit for the 25/26 season.

Two players that probably won't move the needle towards becoming a NCAA tournament team next season but could both be solid role players if they're surrounded by the right top-of-the-roster guys.

Is Kerr Kriisa just CJ Frederick 2.0? Very similar back grounds and prone to the injury bug….

We needs some bigs…

I hope these two pick ups aren’t telling us that Jizzle and DayDay have one foot out the door already…

2 years ago these commits would have gotten me rabid. But your assessment is probably pretty accurate in their roles.

I follow Skillings Jr. on Instagram and he used to have the UC basketball instagram tagged in his profile. It is no longer on his profile. He has a company representing him for NIL on there now.

We’ll see how this plays out I guess…

There are definitely some glaring similarities between CJ and Kriisa.

CJ, at his best, was just a high volume spot shooter, while Kriisa also has some element of playmaking/facilitating to his game -albeit, it makes him much more turnover prone.

Current reports indicate that Jizzle and Day Day are both likely to return, but who knows what the whirlwind of these next few days could bring.

Bigs are definitely a huge priority for the roster.

He's confirmed gone as of this morning. After this year...not really much of a loss tbh. Last year he seemed to be making leaps in the right direction, got hurt early this year and then fell off hard when he came back. He seems like he's still just getting by on athleticism rather than refined skill.

If James and Thomas return with the additions of Harris and Kriisa, the backcourt depth should be very solid. Wings and big men are huge question marks, though. They do have two 4-star recruits coming in including top 25, McDonald's All-American wing Shon Abaev who should probably start right away and be able to put up points. He's also the highest rated recruit to come here since Lance Stephenson. Page never really moved the needle, but getting Mitchell back would be huge and if McKinley can come back from injury and be the guy we think he can be, they might be okay. If not to both points, they need to attack the portal for about 2-3 bigs. Hopefully some with more offense to their games than Bandago.

Josh Reed enters the transfer portal. This one stinks in my opinion. He really came on strong about half way through the season once he was given more opportunities. Best of luck to him.

Rayvon Griffith in the transfer portal. Hometown Cincy kid who offered a spark off the bench in the minimal time he was given. Best of luck to him, Reed and Skillings Jr.

Griffith did say he has the option to come back to UC, something neither Reed nor Skillings mentioned in their posts.

Reed = high floor, low ceiling.

Rayvon = low floor, high ceiling.

Could've made a good case for bringing one or the other back, but I'm not sure that either could've commanded a bigger role. Hopefully they land somewhere that facilitates their development better.

Page, Betsey, and walk-on JJ Rembert all enter the portal this morning.

With no more outgoings (and Hickman not getting a waiver), we're looking at 6 open roster spots to fill for next season.

Betsey, like Griffith, could return. I’ll be surprised if either do though.

Dillon Mitchell entered the portal yesterday. In my opinion, he will get the biggest amount of money from all of the UC guys in the portal. Man, I hate this loss for UC. He needed to work on his jump shot, but his athleticism and ceiling are very high.

Rumors floating around of UC landing 7'2 UCF center Moustapha Thiam.

Averaged 10.4 ppg, 6.4 rpg, and 2.6 bpg as a true freshman.

Would arguably be Wes Miller's biggest transfer portal win if it comes to fruition.

Man, I hope you are right. UC hasn't had a good big since.... Danny Fortson(more of a big forward) or Corrie Blount

Bearcats land the 22nd ranked portal guy in UCF’s 7’2” 235lb center Moustapha Thiam. Averaged 10.6 points, 6.4 boards and 2.6 blocks as a freshman playing almost 29 minutes per game.
