Makes sense--Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Arkansas--those states are an absolute mess with refrigerated trucks to hold the dead bodies in Florida and Texas---gotta believe Ohio HS will push back at least 2-3 weeks and begin closer to Labor Day weekend, unless #'s continue to get worse with a record # of cases today and now more yellow counties becoming orange!!

Approximately 71,000 non-pediatric/non-neonatal ICU beds in the country according to the AHA.
There's 328.2 million people in the country and, only 4.5 million confirmed cases. 154k deaths.
We're nowhere close to seeing how bad this can be just yet.

I'm guessing these are old people dying? Lots of them down there. Not sure how you can prevent that. Those people have to be cared for, and their caregivers will eventually get it, and spread it. If you think closing the bars, or not playing football, or not going to school will help, yer wrong.

Your choice and keep believing Faux News---not sure why papers would lie about #'s in Florida that DeSantis is already trying to minimize--refrigerated trucks are hard to lie about--not sure what you would believe at this stage----if it was fake why isn't the SEC playing football September 1st instead waiting until 9/26--cuz it's real bad down south pal!!

• Official practices may begin on Saturday, Aug. 1.
• School vs. school scrimmages and/or contests will follow per their normal OHSAA permissible dates and regulations.

• Girls Tennis – 1 scrimmage permitted after practice begins and prior to first match; first contest Aug. 7.

• If the fall seasons begin and, for some reason, are stopped but then resume, the OHSAA has plans to move to a
modified fall sports season.
• If contact sports are approved for school vs. school competition, the OHSAA is prepared to set COVID-19-
related requirements for schools to follow for competitions as requested by the Governor’s Office. The OHSAA will
govern and issue consequences for the violation of these requirements as prescribed in OHSAA Bylaw 11,
Penalties.
• Conversations with the Governor’s Office/Ohio Department of Health continue regarding the status of field hockey
and/or cross country being placed into the low/non-contact category. The membership will be updated if that
changes for either or both sports.
• The OHSAA continues with conversations with the Governor’s Office on its plans to ensure we are in concert.
NOTE: At this time, the OHSAA is finalizing a series of Questions and Answers that have come up in recent days, and we will be forwarding that document to school administrators later Friday afternoon.

So if football cant play by September we are going to shutdown and not play contact sports till mid December? So from September 4 - December 15 which is approximately 13 weeks / 3 months we wont do anything with contact sports? Where does this logic come from? Why weren’t we thinking about doing this through the summer so we might have started all sports around Labor Day. It makes ZERO sense to move back winter sports from November 1 to December 15 and play condensed schedules for all .

Some magic virus eating fairy will come down in October with the pumpkins and other friends and make the virus go away.
The same problem in September will be around in December. Even with Vaccine that is a stretch to have by then.

Are we certain Football would start December 15th? Or would this be the winter season and Football is Feb-April and spring is April-June? Just asking?
No reason why a reduced basketball and other winter sports schedule could not start as currently scheduled. If anything, with no fall sports, move them up a month and allow for more time to squeeze all the sports in. The way it is set now, there would be no breaks in between seasons for multi-sport students. They should of at least had a calender as to what a condensed schedule will look like attached to the release. Just creating more confusion and would allow all coaches to have an idea of what is ahead and adjust schedules accordingly. They approach this like coaches can just flip a switch and start their seasons at the drop of a hat.

Sounds to me more the the countries' fearless leader. Especially the "no credibility" and "LIES"!
Simple question for current 10th & 11th grade students, if there are no sports this year does that open up that all these kids get to go play for whatever school they want next year without sitting out any games? If so, I could see a lot of kids gravitating to teams primed for a state championship run. Since they all are losing out on playing time experience this year they could help their college recruiting chances by being on a team playing deep into the playoffs next year especially if their own school doesn't look very promising

No, DIMWIT DEWINE is responsible fir the disastrous response in Ohio! Remember the 10th Amendment...those powers not expressly delineated to the Federal govt in the Constitution are reserved to the States. Dewine is responsible for Ohio, not Trump or any other POTUS.
