A tremendous contributor to the sport in many areas, but the most I think was in his role as editor of the annual International Athletics Annual, published yearly out of the U.K. I have a handful of them, and if you've never picked one up and paged through it's approximately 600 pages, you've missed something. It is the ultimate in T&F "bathroom" books. Much of my work has been influenced by those annuals in trying to provide enough information to convey pertinent information with regard to a particular performance and performer. His contributions will truly be missed. RIP, Mr. Matthews.
