Alter Vs Wyoming

Can't really argue with those results. To play devils advocate though I do believe playing "pillow" schedules allows teams to rest star players more who are dealing with lingering issues. Wyoming wouldve beat 7 of those teams this year with their whole starting backfield out IMO.
Out of curiosity what do you think Wyomings record would be this year if they played Alters schedule?
Definitely not 10-0 and definitely not 5-5. I'm not saying Wyoming's schedule is strong and they play in a pretty weak league (although there have been good early playoff results). I'm just saying that Wyoming has found something that works and their lack of a world-beating schedule has not hindered them at all as they have been able to consistently make deep playoff runs which include a couple trips to Canton. I'm not sure they will be able to beat Alter with a Soph QB and their best player being hurt, but they have been a very consistent playoff winner for a long time now.

Wyoming would probably be 6-4 with Alter's schedule. I would bet they would lose the first 3 games, pick up either Bellbrook or Trotwood win, and then win the GCL, but who knows.

Not taking anything away from Wyoming, Despite their argumentative schedule they still win games in the playoffs which I respect. I believe they would also have 3-4 losses given Alter's schedule. Although the Knights being 5-5, there are a lot of what ifs when it comes to Alter and a lot of outcomes of their games because of injuries and such.

Wyoming has been very consistent so their process can't be questioned much at this point.
It's funny you say that about a sophomore qb. Alter lost their 3.5 year starting qb in week 2 and the next true qb is a freshman. Should be a great game.

5 of the 8 teams made the playoffs. (4 move onto week 12)

2 of the 5 "upset" their higher ranked opponent.

I don't think the CHL is down as bad as any other league across the board?

GCL co-ed besides the bottom two teams is much more competitive, just putting it that way.

No doubt. Alter also seemed to schedule tough OOC games to better prepare for Glenville, which I respect. All that matters though is playoffs. And Per above post Wyoming’s approach has worked too. In fact it’s been Wyoming (6-23) and Alter (3-38) who have faced Glenville in state championship past two years.

This game could go either way. Wyoming will be looking to avenge last year as Alter knocked them out of the playoffs in both football and basketball. Wyomings basketball team last year was also very good (23-4 record i think?).
Likely a low scoring game tonight. Without turnovers or special teams miscues I don't see either team scoring above 17 points.
Does anyone know if qb1 will play tonight for Alter? He's been dressing and warming up before the games on the sidelines the past couple games so I assume he's close to playing....

Over the past year Alter has knocked out Wyoming in football, basketball and soccer. The two schools tied for individual boys golf state championship this year. So there’s a lot of recent history, mostly going Alter’s way. Should be a great game between two storied programs. Alter won 17-0 last year and first to 17 probably wins it tonight.

I do think that Alter's schedule that they have played plays a part in this one. They appear to be as healthy as they have been in a LONG time.
Should be a great game.

Alter 27
Wyoming 7

Congrats to Alter on a completely dominating performance. Very impressive Crazy that Wyoming beat both CHL teams that knocked off the 1 and 3 seeds tonight. Wyoming either had an off night tonight or Alter is that much better than everyone in the region. My hunch is both are true.

Alter dominated from the rip. Wyoming didn’t know what hit em

Here's how those pillow schedules have hurt Wyoming over the last 8 years. I think it's time to change the record on that narrative. There aren't many schools in the state that wouldn't gladly take these results
  • 2016- 3rd round
  • 2017- 3rd round
  • 2018- State Champs
  • 2019- Regional final
  • 2020-Regional final
  • 2021- 3rd round
  • 2022- State runner-up
  • 2023- Regional semifinal

Maybe you all already knew, but didn't see anyone mention Joel Hancock being out since the Week 9 game. I believe I heard he torn an ACL. I'm sure that played a big part of Wyoming's struggle to score as he had accounted for 21 TDs this season and 175 rushing yards per game. Not saying Wyoming wins with Hancock, but it obviously didn't help Wyoming.

I would relate it to Alter was the first top tier d4 defense Wyoming has faced all year. Did he play last year also against Alter in the playoffs ? 2 games 0 points is crazy for a team that won 23 games in 2 years

Every year, Wyoming plays a cupcake out of conference schedule to pick up easy wins and plays in a lousy and bad CHL... For a mid size/small school conference in SW Ohio, the CHL is way lower than the Coed and SWBL and half of the MVC would be just fine against the CHL.

Wyoming needs to invest more in early season competitive games since they can't control their in conference play...

Add a Badin, Bellbrook, Alter, Tipp City, Trotwood, Massie, types of games in the beginning... Everyone makes the playoffs now

The CHL is far from down... just a slight changing of the guard. They had a 6 and 9 seed knock off a 1 and 3 seed...

Wyoming isn't really on the level of Alter the last couple years regardless of injuries. I was just saying their best player was hurt, who they relied on pretty much the whole season. As I said, I don't think Wyoming was winning the game either way. But Hancock being hurt potentially led to this game being more of a blowout than most thought.

I think Alter not having their 4 yr starter QB kind of evens things out as far as unavailable players.

Alter the 3rd place team in the GCLC just absolutely boatraced the first place team in the CHL. CHL is not even close to the GCLC come on man!
