All Federal

Allman is a good player but missed too many games for all-federal, Dodds has four interceptions he will get the vote before Allmen.
Bucar - too many good LB's at other schools who are seniors will shut out Bucar.

Cochenour and Robbins should be shoe-ins.
Nettleton at punter - not sure how his stats measure up with the rest.
Boyko at kicker - I don't think he missed a kick this year.

Others who should be close:
Cross - 2nd team last year
Nau - 3 year starter
Walculchick - going to be fun watching him the next 2 years.
Benko - would have had a shot but missed too many games, I think Cochenour went both ways 6 games.

Vikings51, some good points. May I add my thoughts...

Allman (DB) - He's very talented. He has good closing speed, but I forgot about his time out of force. May hurt his chances.
Dodds (DB) - Had a really good season. Truely deserving. I don't believe he was in the lineup early in the season. May hurt his chances.
Bucar (LB) - Junior status dosen't mean anything. Look at Cross last year. Eight LB's will be selected. Bucar may have led the league in tackles. He's definitely one of the best 8.
Cokes/Robbins (DE) - Four DE's will be selected. They deserve the honor, but it all depends on the opposing coaches votes. They both came on strong the second half of the season. The coaches votes from the early games may be a factor.
Nettleton (P) - consistant all season long, decent average. I didn't see anyone better.
Bojko (K) - should be there! Accurate & consistant! He's a weapon.
Cross (DL) - He's very good, but may not have seen enough action on defense this year. Sampsel played regularly.
Gnau (OG) - 3 year starter (rare indeed); Probably the toughest kid per pound in the league. Offensive output may affect selection.
Wakulchik - Definitely talented. I agree, it'll be fun watching him the next couple of years. He should be considered.
Benko (TE) - When healthy, he was the best in the league. His injury has hurt his chances. I'm very glad to see him back in the lineup.

More to consider...
Dahl (LB)
Gnau (LB)
Nettleton (QB)
Staudinger (DL)

Side note: If any of these terrific athletes are in the running. I would hope two-way starters will receive special consideration. e.g.) Cokes, Robbins & Wakulchik

I think cross has a better chance of making it on OL than DL, as he didn't really play that much DL, but played every offensive snap.
Also Staudinger(DL) should be considered, he had a few games where he was simply amazing.
Merten their center shouldn't be overlooked either, I see him and Green(FB/LB) both possibly making 2nd team.

Cross will be considered at OL, Staudinger, merten, green - good senior years (staud is a jr) but not all federal. very good year for them.

If Staudinger gets in the weight room, he wil be a force next year!!!!!

Dodds should be...he had a very good season this year.

Jman,

I totally agree !

This kid is undersized and has spent his days at Hoover underlooked at. He is a hard player and a team player. A good kid overall. Hope he takes the days of playing Hoover football with him through life with very fond memories.

Vikings51......I agree that the choices that are made for these honors is political, but it is why these type of forums are good. This venue allows US to voice our opinions and that is good for the kids and the program. Too bad you sometime miss that aspect of internet sports and how we choose to support the kids.

How does Viking51 sometime miss that aspect?

My only point was that the process is political, to say it was worthless was a bad choice of words by me, but please let me know how I sometimes miss that aspect of internet sports based on one example, tell me of your other examples. To also insinuate that I don't support to kids - let me fill you in - I played for the Vikings, I coached the Vikings, I scouted for the Vikings, I have supported the Vikings for over 25 years. I have never said anything but positive things about any Viking on this forum or in person. I support these kids as much or more than anyone on here.

My original point was about the political process - last year 27 kids made 1st team, 26 were seniors. 26 made second team, 18 were seniors. If this thread is about making 1st team or 2nd team or special mention then in my opinion, every kid mentioned here will have that chance.

All that being said, I'm not here to fight with a fellow fan - I just want to Beat Massillon

I guess I am totally wrong. I had a brain fart when I was posting and it is not you Viking51 that I was thinking about. There is another NC poster that is not always a glowing supporter of the kids and I was thinking about him. I know you V51 and you do support the kids in their sports.

My apologies !

No problem, i am pretty sure I know you also. I have four tickets for the OSU - Northwestern game in 10 days on the 50 yard line. I hope they sit on my kitchen counter while we all go to the next Vikings game.

Go VIKINGS

I take it from the glowing supporter comment that it was meant for me, so I will clarify. When the thread was All-Federal, I took that to mean first team all-federal, if we are talking about 2nd team and mention, as some are then I would have answered alot differently. Most of these players mentioned will make it, last year we had 6 make it in all categories, this year at second place we should have 12 or more.

Last year -
Glenoak 11 players
Lake 11 players
Mck 11 players
Jackson 13 players
Fitch 12 players

My 12 would be:
QB Nettleton - 2nd
RB/LB Dahl - HM
WR/DB Wakulchick - 2nd
TE Benko - HM
T Cross - 1st/2nd
C Merten - HM
G Gnau - 2nd/HM
DT Staudinger - 1st/2nd
DE/ RB Robbins - 1st
DE/TE Cocenour - 1st
LB Bucar - 2nd
DB Dodds - 2nd

I could agree with this, good post. i do think that Alex Bojko will get a 2nd or mention (if they pick that for kicking), it seems the kid from Mck will get 1st team after the writeup this week.

Alex is great, i don't think he has had a miss this year.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the kicking game.
Bojko will probably get 2nd team, though he is far more accurate than the kid from McK (who struggled versus hoover with PATs)
Also Nettleton is probaby the best punter in the league (and county).

Robbins and Coke were most deserving.

Then Bucar.

Then Net.

Then Feinberg.
And they were all rewarded. Feinberg still shoulda been used more than he was imo especially on D.

Wakulcheck, Bojko, Gnau, and Dahl are next deserving and only Gnau and Bojko were rewarded. Staudinger and Cross earned their spots deservingly tho as well.

You guys kill me about the DBs this year.

The process usually ends up pretty political so its kind of worthless to speculate who wll make it.

I see your point!

Cokes deserved All-County, but instead, was bumped by a McKinley LB listed as DL (Kirksey). Why? McKinley's season long dominance on defense. Cochenour had 10 1/2 sacks this season. Terrific season Cokes!

Thank God Robbins made All-County. Along with Bojko. Both are deserving. Robbins may have a shot at All-State.

Nettleton deserved All-Federal as a punter, but was already listed at QB. No player was listed in two positions. If that were the case, Craven from Jackson would probably have been listed at LB (62 tackles) as well. Also, All-Federal Punter went to McNew from GlenOak. He should have been selected as a WR. He led the Federal League in receptions with 52 (12.1 yard avg). However, they listed only one WR on each unit. They should have listed 2 WR for each unit.

Bucar deserved 1st team All-Federal and possibly All-County, but was bumped by seniors with less tackles. Bucar had 122 tackles. Powers - Lou 80 (Sr), Kirksey - McK 63 (Sr), Vaughn - McK 105 (Sr), Budzinski - Jac 85 (Sr), Bertsch - NW 107 (Sr)

Walkulchik deserved All-Federal honors, but is only a sophomore. No sophomores listed. Wakulchik was 4th in the Federal League in receptions with 27 with a 15.1 yard avg. Plus played good defense all season long and did a decent job returning kickoffs.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not crying over spilled milk. It is what it is! I didn't believe Vikings51. I was wrong.

i agree 100% it had to be because he was only a sophomore. i cant think of any other reason

To bad bertsch didn't stay at Hoover. Imagine that D w/ him on the squad as well
