700 WLW

From my experience in LE, 90% of the time I dealt with someone who was masked and also armed...they were committing a crime. In this case, the Nazi group could've either taken their KKK hoods off and continued to carry or the could keep the masks on and no guns. The combination of the two escalate these incidents even more than they already are. I understand the law would need to be specifically defined as to what was and wasn't a mask (your examples wouldn't be criminal in my mind). I also understand there'd have to be an exemption for hunting.

They don't have the authority to simply arrest on immigration status. If they're arrested for something else, most jails will hold for a certain amount of time on an ICE detainer. If ICE doesn't pick up then they are released.
Guess we need to expand powers against enemies of the state.
Rarely do I hit a home run on what becomes government policy, but the Trump administration used an old law to get enemies of the State out of here without the inconvenience, time and financial costs of due process.

I think just this little back and forth proves why it's so hard to make laws. And as we all know, whatever laws you make, there are folks out there who will push the envelope right to the edge. Kind of like this group in Linken Park. As much as I know they are just trying to get a rise out of the locals, no laws where broken. Again, if you just don't give people attention who are seeking attention, they eventually go away. It's like the little kid acting up in class, you ignore them, and it's not fun anymore.
I know you didn't say that, but I'm genuinely asking. If someone wearing a mask shouldn't be allowed to carry where would it stop. Sunglasses, hoods, and hats can conceal identity just the same as a mask. What exactly is it about wearing a mask that is proven to be more dangerous than a person carrying not wearing a mask? I'm for common sense gun laws too, but in my opinion your proposal doesn't make common sense.

Good ole Thom Brennaman in for Mike McConnell this week. Talk about punishment not fitting the crime. He made an off color comment about gays on a hot mic heard by some but not all, and it wrecked his life for what 7-8 years? He's finally doing some sports broadcasting again. You can like or not like the guy personally, but that's just wrong.

Wonder if Thom takes over in the mornings for any length of time. I think Thom deserves better, but it’s something until football season—when he does ACC games.

I thought Mike and I were about the same age. Years ago he was talking about the Vietnam draft ended the year he turned 18, me to. I found out he was born in May 1955, I was born in July so he's 2 months older. Gonna miss him...

Hate to see him go!

that is sad news. kinda hoping "nick from loveland" and "Martin" (?). can call in during Mikes last days on the air. I'm sure Dick from Dayton will be on.

1990 he was 10-2 with Burbank following 2-6. Not sure what year they shortened Scott, McConnell and Bu4bank so Willie could get 3 hours mid day?

I haven't listened to WLW in years. Except for the Reds. At the end of Mikes' first stint he was becoming hard to listen to. Became rude, cranky, or something. I know he was going through a divorce but his whole tone changed.

Mike had several regulars including Sensible Don, Nicky, Donna. Dick from Dayton calls alot of radio stations, not just WLW.

I've always thought Mike was great to listen to. Very common sense, down the middle. Alot of people call him conservative and he probably leans that way but he's always made his own way, and there are very few situations where I disagree with him. I always thought Mike would make a great leader for a city or state, but many of those people who would be great at that can't stand politics.

How did it wreck his life?

And good old WLW. During one of this morning's newscasts, they reporter said gas prices have spiked nearly 30 cents a gallon!!!! Leading to speculation that this is tariff driven!!!! Hasn't gas prices been swinging back and forth for more than a year? They'll go up 30-40 cents then work back down, then back up. Nothing to do with tariffs.

he talked to John Phillipps Tuesday and Randy Michaels today. be interesting to hear who he gets in the last 2 days. announcement on replacement tomorrow at 8
I remember John Phillips vaguely, and Randy Michaels kind of precedes me, and I'm old. Really didn't full dial in to WLW on the day side until the 90's with Jim Scott, McConnell, Cunningham and Burbank. That 3-6 time slot is a killer. Been a revolving door there for years. Eddie Fingers just doesn't cut it for me, at least with Tracy it was ok. Rocky doesn't do much for me either.

Dark horse candidate for Mike's spot....Mo Egger. Yes, he's a sports guy but he produced for Mike for years before he got his sports gig.

lol, I thought Mo would be great. great personality. he'd have to give up a lot though,

Thom gets the nod for Mike’s spot. 👍

"We came to Cincinnati when I was 10 years old because of my dad," Brennaman, who starts his new role Monday, April 7, told Enquirer sports columnist Jason Williams. "So I’ve had some family or my own personal connection to WLW for 51 of my 61 years. WLW is a big deal. I hope I can live up to the people who’ve done this job before me."

I like it. Always like Thom on the Reds games. I feel he was unjustly canned by Fox Sports but that's the world we live in now. WLW must feel VERY COMFORTABLE that he's made amends to the hot mic comment years ago. But I'm sure WLW will still get some flak from the left. I made it appointment radio to listen to Mike McConnell for decades. Thom doesn't quite rise to that level, but I'll listen in the early mornings.

I was hoping Gary Jeff Walker would get it, but I will give Thom a chance. Seems those shows in January and February were actually secret tryouts. Good for Thom!

Not the news room at WLW, but an interesting exchange this morning from Thom and White House correspondent Karen Travers. She was going on about the gloom and doom of the tariff situation and Thom mentioned that many liberals like Nancy Pelosi went on record years ago saying the US needed to pound some of these other countries with tariffs with all the goods we bring in. So Travers basically says she's not debating what politicians said 20 years ago. It was a little fridgid to say the least.
I remember Mike on many occasions reminding simply provides information from Washington, she doesn't write the script, she just reads it. Mike would occasionally question Travers but they rarely got into any kind of debate.
