700 WLW

I believe it's a law that public schools must accept any student no matter their status if they live within the district. They pay taxes based on either paying property taxes or paying rent..

And if the parents are illegal immigrants, but the child was born here, the child is an American citizen.

I question the legality of ICE to be able to search any business or school without a warrant.

What if they’re not paying rent or property taxes but just living in a employers house for free so they can lay the people less on the hour?

So I heard on WLW, the Cincinnati police chief say that they would not allow ICE to come into the jails to check documentation of potential immigrants? Why wouldn't they? Wouldn't it be better to send them back so we don't have to pay to incarcerate them?

About half listening to Mike's show yesterday and he said that "Scott" was retiring. I was hoping it was Sloan, but it wasn't. It was some producer/ engineer type guy. Dang it.

Cincinnati Police don't run a jail or have authority to make decisions at one.

Did I hear right this morning that the City of Cincinnati is going to assist undocumented immigrants to "know their rights" when ICE comes a callin? Will someone enlighten me. To me it's pretty black or white, either you're here legally, or illegally. What does "undocumented" mean? Is that just a word in place of illegal?
Also, what rights to you have if you're not an American citizen? Shouldn't you be able to produce paperwork if you're a citizen? Pretty simple to me. On another note, if you work, do you not have taxes taken out and social security and medicare taken out? If you don't have a SS number, how does that happen?

Pretty incredible that the bridge in Cincy that goes over to KY damaged by fire is going to open on Sunday. This just goes to show government can work fast if necessary. That was around Thanksgiving I think? So less than 3 months? And that includes pouring concrete in the winter.

I think it happened on Halloween...

They must by the way things shake out. So if you have two illegal immigrants come here, they have a child born here, that doesn't change the parents status does it?

Ok, so pretty much right 90-100 days. It took about 2-3 weeks to even access the damage and come up with a plan. I know those who added an hour or two a day on their commute will be happy.

To be clear, there is still a Hamilton county jail though, correct? Seems like that could be a place to find someone who has the authority to lock criminals up. Someone actually does have the authority to decide if criminals will be prosecuted or not. Right now the big cities say no to prosecution. One day, when most of America is undocumented, the opinion may change.

Hamilton County doesn't have an agreement with ICE to house inmates. Only two counties in Ohio do...Geauga and Seneca.

But any county could house criminals until things get sorted out. It is the police chiefs decision on what offence they wish to pursue, and what offense they wish to ignore.

They don't have the authority to simply arrest on immigration status. If they're arrested for something else, most jails will hold for a certain amount of time on an ICE detainer. If ICE doesn't pick up then they are released.

Guess we need to expand powers against enemies of the state.

So put this in the "who do they think they are" category. Mike was telling a story this morning about a guy that has a Tesla truck. I guess he gets all kinds of grief from people because of Tesla's connection to Elon Musk? I mean where are we at today when people just go out of their way to demean a person just do to what vehicle they drive? I guess he gets dirty looks, gets flipped off, etc.

Since we've turned every single issue into political argument. You do it all the time on here

How about the Linken Park debacle? I mean there are always going to be groups who "stir the pot". The Nazi people did not do anything wrong. You are allowed to assemble peacefully in America. If you try to infringe upon that as another citizen, you are in the wrong.

I've tried to come up with a good comparison for this and I think I've got it. Let's say a group of Browns backers came to Cincinnati and stood on a public bridge with their Browns gear and flags. It's the exact same thing. Probably not a great idea, but you're not breaking any laws.

My recommendation when this happens, is to just point and laugh at the people and leave them be. They WANT to cause a ruckus. It's like the kid in high school who picked on others, they just want some attention. You don't give them attention, they go away.

If you consider a Nazi hate group showing up in Lincoln Heights, which is a black community that has a long history of racism....and Browns and Bengals fans I'm not sure what to tell you.

Though I don't think anyone's surprised you're taking the Nazi side.

They're lucky the police showed up because they were going to be outgunned

SMH, you just simply don't get it. And yet the police is getting criticized for not doing more.

I don't get it? They specifically went to that community knowing it would draw a hostile reaction. They only had the nerve to do so because Ohio's open carry laws allowed them to carry AR platform rifles. LH residents responded carrying their own weapons and willing to use them. The police just got them away from each other as quick as possible.

The community wants more from the police because they don't know the laws. As a former police officer, I 100% support a law making it illegal to carry a gun if you're wearing a mask (outside of hunting). I can't think of a single reason to support it.

When when white people and MAGA suggests banning masks to stop violence and protest COVID...it's for safety.
When a black community asks for the same thing for the KKK it's a first amendment violation.

I get what you're saying. But no laws were broken. They got the rise they wanted. THAT'S the fallacy when you go at these people. They are LOOKING to cause trouble. As a citizen, you have to look at the circumstances, see if there are any laws being broken. Open carry certainly makes it different now because when most people see guns, they immediately think trouble. They were on a public walkway, and not doing anything else that could had been construed as illegal. When the community went to meet them, THEN it becomes a danger and the police had to get involved. At that point it becomes weighing just getting them out of there as opposed to any minor offenses. It stinks, I get it. But like anything else, you only own the land you have legally bought. The sidewalks, the roads are public property.

I didn't say any of that and the law would need to be specifically defined. I think of myself as a pro gun but also believe in common sense gun laws. Most would have zero effect on someone who carries all the time.

I know you didn't say that, but I'm genuinely asking. If someone wearing a mask shouldn't be allowed to carry where would it stop. Sunglasses, hoods, and hats can conceal identity just the same as a mask. What exactly is it about wearing a mask that is proven to be more dangerous than a person carrying not wearing a mask? I'm for common sense gun laws too, but in my opinion your proposal doesn't make common sense.
