2025 Three Rivers Conference.

The league split because Versailles left, Milton left, and Tipp left. Everyone was upset that Lehman and Versailles wouldn’t allow soccer. Tipp tried to join Milton in the SWBL but the league didn’t want them. They ended up in the CBC.
The SRC was a decent league because Versailles gave it credibility. When they left it fell apart.

The league collapsed because Covington started losing. They had been strong and couldn’t take losing so they started looking around and they tried to keep it secret. But word got out and that made Tipp and Milton nervous so they started looking for a place. Nothing was going on until Covington couldn’t deal with the idea that they weren’t going to be top dog.

Well. Based on what Milton AD at that time, Bill Overla told me, that wasn’t it. Covington had left the league long before the league disbanded.

Pretty sure that is correct. It has been a long time but believe the SRC disbanded with Tipp, Miami East, Lehman, SCC, Graham, Versailles, Ben Logan and Milton Union in the final season of that conference. Not sure exactly where the first domino fell

Ok we can agree to disagree. I was friends with another AD from then and the story he told me was different. But the bottom line is it’s water over the dam and we can agree there were some real good fb teams in that league starting with Versailles but including several others.

Well Covington won 1 title and disappeared in the early 90s. They were never any good in the SRC. They left and joined the CCC and that’s when the wining began. Milton lost to them 2 years in 83-84 and won all of the others.
I was very involved in SRC sports back then and I can remember it well. In 99 Milton petitioned the SWBL along with Tipp and they turned down Tipp. Milton left due to the same kind of stuff happening now in the TRC. Covington’s replacement was Stebbins. Ben Logan replaced Stebbins. Covington left in 1991.

With all this talk it’s interesting to hear the TRC might invite SCC to replace Bethel. Bad got worse.
This league needed Ft Loramie and they needed Covington to be good along with Riverside and MU. Right now, Northridge is running this conference. No way that happened in the SWBL.
If Riverside leaves, it’s lights out for the TRC. There aren’t any teams to replace 2 or 3 TRC teams. You could look further north but the travel for MU and Northridge would be bad.
SCC is not the answer. Invite Ft Loramie for football and invite SCC for other sports and hope for the best. Loramie gives immediate value. SCC does not. This league looks like it could be a joke. You lose East to the CBC Riverside to the OHC and Bethel ( it’s a done deal) to the CBC and you’re in deep waters.

This is the first I heard of the TRC wanting Central. I’ll have to ask about that Tuesday night.
Please do. SCC used to be a SRC member. If Bethel leaves, which I hear is a sure thing, then inviting a former member is almost assured. Who else would the TRC replace Bethel with?

Rumor at Riverside is they do not want to leave TRC. Their ultimate goal was TRC would expand, and eventually be two divisions big/small. Obviously with Bethel leaving, other dominoes will follow. The Pirates don’t want stuck with their head in the sand if ME/MU go to CBC or something, then they’d be screwed.

Heard SCC and Carlisle were possibilities as well for potential additions.

Riverside left the NWCC for better competition, and to not worry about league opponents not fielding football teams. Ironically, Covington couldn’t come to Riverside two years ago for that same reason.

Definitely curious to see how everything plays out. But it sounds like Riverside enjoys the TRC, and is hopeful it stays together.

A lot of it depends on the angle you are viewing it from. This version of the TRC is not the SRC or SWBL. It clearly is not the CCC or WOAC or Metro Buckeye conference either. It is a soft football, basketball first conference. Clearly for the larger schools (Bethel, Northridge and Milton) it seems very soft in ability to prepare them for postseason. Riverside had a couple generational type players that made their football excel, but now they are coming back to what I think is where they spend most of their time. So if you have Covington, Troy Christian, Lehman, Riverside and a potential for SCC to replace Bethel you actually get a slightly better football program in SCC. Add to that SCC is probably on average as good as Bethel in basketball and really you aren't losing much.

What I've really hoped for is a couple of those medium size schools similar to Miami East to join and replace Bethel. Graham would certainly be in that category.

Starting to hear some rumors that sound like TRC’s future is shaky. If Bethel IS leaving, that’s 1. I’m starting to hear East may be looking elsewhere. OHC IIRC. Also heard that Northridge is interested in Dayton City League. That would leave 5 schools at most correct? IF true, it’d be interesting to see what they do.

Crazy Miami East hasn’t had much stability with conferences. 4 conferences since 2000, and I think they only actually left 1 by choice. If that’s what they’re looking for (stability), then I can see all of these rumors pushing them into the OHC (who I think would welcome them with open arms).

Sounds like the first domino fell this past Friday. Bethel told others they’re officially going to the CBC. Sounds like Greenon leaving OHC for CBC as well, as has been discussed. TRC in danger...

Well.......,guess we will see who they find to plug that hole. Could go small (SCC) or large. Which ever way they choose will probably determine who stays and who goes. Would Graham be neutral enough to stabilize the situation if they joined?

Maybe add Fort Loramie for football only. Stay 7 in everything else or add a small school that doesn't have football.

Lose by Fall, Rickey Robert, and the late Old DB all three crick league posters who have been or are randomly interested in the Dublin Coffman football thread . What are the odds? lol.

Here are the TRC futures I see, in order by most likely.

A. They add a team that isn't a perfect fit, but keeps the league intact
B. They add a team that is a perfect fit
C. Another school leaves and the league folds

Alot of people are already killing the league because of the loss of.....Bethel? Sorry to the Bees, but Bethel was not some heartbeat of the league that the others can't live without. All schools are still committed. People are already picturing Riverside or East jumping, but they are not going anywhere unless there is no other choice.

I think the easiest solution is S.C.C. leaves the OHC and replaces Bethel. At first I thought the TRC would be worse off, but really? The TRC would be worse in baseball for sure. What else? what other sport was Bethel good in that SCC would be a huge drop off?

Bethel is usually good in boys soccer. Not sure about girls sports

I don't dislike this idea. FWIW, I enjoy SCC being in the OHC and don't want to see them go...but apparently WLS is in the minority.

I am not a fan of 10 team conferences. So if this would happen, I still would like to see the OHC add 2 or subtract 2. 8, 12 or bust IMO.
