2025 Pittsburgh Steelers

Well the Steelers did sign Mason Rudolph. Honestly I would almost be ok with giving him the shot as QB1. He’s certainly has enough weapons to succeed with the addition of Gainwell and Metcalf ( and they retain Pickens). I’ll probably catch some grief for this but Russ (meh) and then the drama that might follow Rodgers …I'd be ok with MR.

Rudolph’is 9-8-1 as a starting QB, 1-4 last year with Tennessee. He’s completed 63% of his passes 28 td, 20 int, 33 sacks for 246 yards loss. He’s completed provides nothing in the rushing game, he has 0 rush td’s and very limited mobility. With this said, the Steeler could get 9-10 wins with him as a starting qb if other players stay healthy.

Got to take a chance on a rookie qb (Dart, Howard, the kid from Louisville or Missouri) or trade for the kid at New England. If it doesn’t work out (most likely will not), then you draft a QB in 2026.

The kid from NE, Milton, can throw it through a wall. Unfortunately, there's a 50/50 chance he misses the wall.

He played well in NE last game last season. He’s 6’5”, 240 or so. Hey, it’s a reach just like all of the guys I mentioned. At least the Steelers will not waste the 2nd overall pick in a qb. It’s just a bad WB draft class to need a QB

He did it against a bunch of backups however. He certainly has potential, he just needs to work on his accuracy and touch. He has a real gun for an arm.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk believes that the Steelers would turn their attention to former Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston, who started for a good portion of the 2024 NFL season.

"I know they're gonna end up with who you think I know," Florio said. "I'm looking at him right now. Jameis Winston. If they don't sign Rodgers, they're gonna go with Jameis Winston. Because he can at least get the ball down the field to DK Metcalf."

As far as the draft goes, the kid from Louisville is probably the most NFL ready QB they have a chance to get. He's already 25 and will be 26 later this year, so he's likely going to drop to the 3rd round. But he's got skill and plays a little bit like Josh Allen. He'd probably be a hit here. It's not an ideal solution, but neither are Rudolph, Rodgers, or really anyone else available. Even if they somehow managed to pry Lawrence from the Jags, I don't think anyone is actually sure how good/bad he really is yet. It's also a risk.

Here is an article in the Louisville QB Tyler Shough. 6’5”, 220 with a good arm and above athleticism (far better than Rudolph). He played in a pro/under center offense at Louisville. A couple of concerns: he had 3 seasons cut short in college due to injury. Also the article says he gets a bit skiddish with pressure and doesn’t climb the pocket, he’s more likely to bail out. Physically Stough a big step behind Buffalo’s Josh Allen in size & speed (6’5”, 240 and a 4.6 forty).

Definitely worth considering as is the OSU and Missouri qb’s.

Article states the cost to acquire NE qb Milton is a 3rd round pick. If offer NE either a 4th this year or a 4th next year that could convert to a 3rd based on playing time/number of snaps Milton takes. He’s big, mobile and has shown some promise. I don’t know if any of this years projected 3rd round qb’s are any better.

Gotta take a chance on somebody.

At 6’2”, 225 lbs and just ran a 4.37 forty, I hope the Steelers do not reach for Alabama’s WB Jalen Milroe in the 1st round. I do hear he comes from a good family and will interview well. Good kid but I just don’t know if he can play QB at the NFL level

I agree. Question. If the Steelers had the no.1 pick in this draft who would you choose?

Based on the talent in this years draft, I’d trade out and try to get a 1st this year and more importantly a 1st in next years draft when there is a number of good QB’s.

Just don’t like Ward or Sanders and Penn St guy is a OLB which the Steelers don’t need. If I couldn’t trade out I guess I’d take the CB/DB kid from Colorado.

I kinda agree with this article. There just isn’t a QB available in free agency or the draft this year that is the guy moving forward. I think the Steelers are gearing up for the 2026 draft where there are a number of quality QB’s coming out and the draft is in Pittsburgh.

So they need to tank the 2025 season?

So they need to tank the 2025 season?

You mean do a typical Browns season? No, absolutely not. The Steelers will put the best team they possibly can out there that gives them a chance at a w.

Look at what the Browns tank job last season did them for this years draft. Who knows what they will do but rest assured it will most likely be the wrong thing.

Not talking about the Browns.

Who will the Stillers pick at QB with number 22?

The Steelers pick 21st. If Dart is available, I’d think he is a possibility. In the 3rd or 4th, I’d guess the Alabama, OSU, Louisville or Missouri QB are all possibilities.

I am happy the Steelers are in the Browns position to consider Sanders. I just don’t think he’s that good and I wouldn’t want to deal with Deion.

ok, so what are we gonna do, roll with Rudolph for a year? draft a QB in this draft? this has gone on long enough. if Rodgers can't decide by now then we don't want him. that simple. what a nutjob he is, anyway. just cut bait and tell him to go elsewhere.

Trib says Rodgers will make his decision in the next day or two (for what it’s worth) also said money is not the issue. So I guess it’s still Giants or Steelers. I’m at the point now where I just want an answer… one way or another. I see 8,9 wins no matter the QB maybe 10 if it’s Rodgers and he stays healthy.

Wilson signed with the Giants so it's **** or get off the pot time for the kook.

At this point, even with Rodgers, I shop Watt and Heyward for picks. This is not a Super Bowl team and those guys, Heyward especially, need to be given a chance to get a ring.

If you could get something out of them then ok, I understand this thinking but I do not agree with it. Both players are:
* Watt, age 31, with one year left on his deal at just over $30.5 mil cap hit
* Heyward, age 36, with one year left on his deal at just over $19.6 mil cap hit

Watt would want a new 4 year deal north of $35 mil a year. At best, what do you think the Steelers would get in return? Maybe a 2nd for Watt and a 4th for Heyward? Maybe a midseason trade of Heyward to a team in the playoff hunt needing a DT might give you a 3rd.

Legacy matters, if Heyward wanted to go elsewhere he would have expressed it by now. He’s a HOF’er, I’m guessing he wants to finish in Pittsburgh.

I don't think the Steelers are shopping Watt and Heyward at all. at their ages, I think these are two dudes who will re-sign/restructure for deals that make sense for them and the organization. just my take.

now use the extra picks we are getting from Fields and Wilson signing elsewhere and trade up for a QB you like. Let Rodgers play one year and then it's on to the new guy.

If you trade Watt and Heyward, Rodgers won't sign. He's not looking to play out the string on a rebuilding team.

If you trade them after he signs, then you are stuck with mopey sad-sack Aaron Rodgers who makes life miserable for everyone.
