2025 Northern Lakes League...both divisions

Yep...this is what I've been thinking for awhile...it won't be too long before the below schools split off and probably ask if Maumee wants to hop back in with them:

Bowling Green
Northview
Southview
Clay
Fremont
Springfield
Napoleon

Every other year, you're going to piss off Clay/Springfield/Ross...and Northview is already feeling the pain. Eventually, they'll all get in a room a realize they could have a better setup without AW, Whitmer, PBurg, and Findlay.
With the current state of Findlay sports I am not sure any school is all that worried about playing them.

They lost one of the best QB’s in the country to injury and still beat NV, Springfield, Ross and SV. Clay beat them but they also had a QB heading to Pitt…I don’t think any of those schools would look forward to playing them every year, neither would BG, Napoleon or LB/Maumee. Their basketball team is terrible this year but they went 20-2 a year ago.

Findlay has constantly underachieved for what they have talent and numbers wise. Not sure anyone is shaking in their boots if they have to play Findlay.

They had one of the top QB’s in the country and did what exactly with him…

I was talking about all sports. Outside of girls b-ball their fall and winter has been rather bad. Findlay fits just as good size wise than Nap does but I can see why those schools would rather have Nap in the league with them. Findlay and Nap don't belong in same conference division.

Football they just had 4 players sign with D1 schools, player walk-on at OSU last year and a 4/5* player 2 years ago and quite a few D2 players and has lost in the first round of play-offs 3 straight years. Yes QB hurt last year but not the prior two years. They had that kind of talent and didn't win much, doubtful the next few years will be better w/o coaching change. If a team lost to them then then that team was not very good. The entire Cardinal division was terrible so unless they were playing the TCL schools there is few teams close to their size they can beat.

That level of basketball is unlikely to ever been seen again at Findlay. It very likely will take them this year plus the next 5 season to match the 20 wins they had last year.

LB joining the NLL is expected to start pulling in even more kids from Findlay. Findlay's athletic future is not bright unless there are changes made.

Greatly summed up on Findlay athletics.

They went 8-3 with losses to Central, AW by 4 and Olentangy Liberty by 1, they beat the “small” NLL schools we are talking about 49-14, 42-7, 49-29, 53-0 and 48-0 with him, not sure you understand the argument here…

You’re talking about how Findlay did in the playoffs and against the other Buckeye teams, none of that has anything to do with how they’d do against the Cardinals division teams…

My point is the Cardinal division and NV/Springfield are bad football teams so it is unlikely they find teams their size that they can beat outside the TCL. That is not a Findlay problem, just become an average football team and your team can beat Findlay. You failed to mention that OL team that beat them 2 seasons ago was 3-7.

If a school is running from the Findlay athletic teams right now they don't have a very good athletic program themselves. Case in point the one program that is doing better at Findlay right now the girls basketball team got beat by Nap last night.

Olentangy Liberty played 12 games…11 against D1 opponents and 1 against Glenville. Perrysburg and Whitmer are only “good” because they get to face 6+ schools that aren’t their size every year. Southview lost by 7 to 9-4 Olmsted Falls in the 2nd round last year, Napoleon lost by 14 to the 2nd best team in D4 in the state (Perkins) in the 3rd round this year. The Cardinal isn’t great but its best teams are competitive for their size. Findlay is a mediocre at best D1 football program, it would be a very good D2 or worse football program.

I see what you did there....nice.

Oregon Clay lost a legend, coach, and great community benefactor last weekend in Derek Besgrove (Clay 01').

Besgrove was Clay's single game, single season, and all time leading rusher, played basketball and ran track for the Eagles and went on to become an 2 time All American at Walsh University (2002-2003). He held the D2 overall rushing record (5,700 yards) for years until recently and was inducted into the Walsh University "Wall of Fame" in 2012. He leaves behind a wife and 3 kids including his freshman son Bryce who is a standout in his own right. Derek was a fixture at sporting events, in the weight room, and recruiting in the community. The Oregon community will definitely miss his presence.
