2025 CHL football preview/discussion thread!

Taylor probably has the ability to maybe pull some athletes and talent from Oak Hills and maybe Harrison. Outside of that not sure if they get much interest in Open enrollment. I don’t think many people are lining outside of Readings door trying to open enroll.
Taylor gets OE reach from other districts people dont think of.

Colerain and CPS as well.

Colerain/taylor meet up at the end of East Miami
Saylor Park (CPS) butt's up to taylor via Rt 50

there are a few kids from both that attend taylor via open enrollment.

A big week for Wyoming HS grads in the transfer portal concludes with CJ Hester committing to Michigan today.

Hester had 529 yards on the ground and 4 TDs for Massachusetts last season.

Isaiah Walker transferred to Xavier from Belmont for hoops earlier in the week.

IH hosted a youth night last week. Over 50 current players, alumni and coaches. Looked like 200 youth players. Rodenbourg really put together an incredible event for the community. No one is going to leave for Elder, LaSalle, Moeller or X in the coming years. Too much momentum.

The issues plaguing IH I don’t think are sports related. I know the moves they’ve made have been to address issues surrounding sports, but I was talking to a parent and he told me there is a lot of grumbling around the middle school environment. That may be what is driving the exodus of kids.

Sadly there are issues within the walls of a few of the CHL schools at the elementary/MS levels.

MOST of them tie back to one thing and that's parenting , or lack there of.

3 CHL players capping off their high school careers representing the CHL on the South DIV-DIV squad at the OHSFCA North South All-Star game this Saturday afternoon up in Massillon. Hopewell (Madeira), Stemle (Finneytown), Rummer (Wyoming). Former Finneytown HC and current Moeller assistant Tatum serving as HC of the South team.

Correction - DIV to DVII team....

Wednesday May 7th Taylor is hosting a Football showcase for some College coaches on campus
I think this thing starts at 6am? (unless its a typo on the flyer i saw)

I wonder who lost the most people for football this year?

Just going off All-League players, this is what each team graduated:

Deer Park
3 1st Team players
1 2nd Team player
4 HM players

Finneytown
1 1st Team player
1 2nd Team player
1 HM player

Indian Hill
2 1st Team players
3 2nd Teams players
1 HM player

Madeira
1 1st Team player
2 2nd Team players
1 HM player

Mariemont
1 1st Team player
1 2nd Team player
3 HM players

Reading
3 1st Team players
1 2nd Team player
3 HM players

Taylor
2 1st Team players
3 2nd Team players
3 HM players

Wyoming
5 1st Team players
1 2nd Team player

Not sure how significant it is in the grand scheme of things, but it's one metric to look at.

Taylor returns most of its skilled position guys.

Losing a couple lineman and some key points on the D.

Losing Lehmann on D will be a tough task. His #'s don't pop but his on field awareness and football IQ were through the roof.

I would imagine Branch steps in to stay on the O-line so will be him and Massie-cable at Tackle.

Taylor should be in position to have another nice season! they will Air it our with Kantz throwing to McFarland , Jones and Sandusky and have a nice balanced attack from Schrimpf in the back field ( i think you will see McFarland's little brother Anquan be the RB2 , kid is an athlete)

Big time blow to Taylor’s offense and defense as it appears as if McFarland is going back to Oak Hills
I think the ole saying was "dont let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya" ??
Every year it was generally being talked about he was going to transfer back home. Hell i think he even shadowed at Taft too so i heard?

Wish Aaron all the best going back to Oak hills.

We'll see how good Aaron REALLY is with playing a GMC schedule and a QB that threw for 600 yds and 2 TD last year. (I would guess Schreiber will be the starter?)

Gives a chance for some dudes to step up! Jeremiah Jones and Cooper Sandusky will get more touches is all! those 2 had a combined 26catches for 585ys and 5 TD (both were freshmen last year) thats 22.5 YPC .

I totally agree. Never felt like he was about anything more than himself. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him get a good amount of screens and other quick hitters. I’d imagine this means his brother is leaving too, but haven’t heard or seen anything on that front so you never know.

We’ll also see how much he really meant to Taylor and how much other guys can step up to shoulder the load considering he accounted for 44% of their receiving yards and 28% of their total offensive yards. They’ll still have Jones and Schrimpf, but how much was having Aaron opening up things for them? Guess we’ll see. It’ll also mean that Kantz has a lot more pressure on him to perform. You’d think Sandusky would play a bigger role as well, but I’ve heard rumors or him being moved to TE or OL

I would assume his brother goes as well? But I have not heard either.
we'll see how much OH uses him coming back for 1 year? I dont know what their rec'ers really are or did last year. Obviously he is going to help them just by being there... but lets be honest Lakota west is WAAAAAY different than lets say Wyoming..... I think we will really see what kind of #'s he is able to put up.

Run game is going to become more of an importance for sure! (schrimpf had an excellent year last year) I dont know if Sandusky would make a move to a OL. TE yes i could see that. But i am excited to see what Jones/Sandusky can do. Sandusky quit playing baseball to work on Football in the summer so he should be primed and ready.

Guess his fan club will be moving to the GMC discussion thread.

Wrong - kids with Catholic backgrounds (some) will leave simply for that
Others will leave because their parents drink Kool Aid

I won’t anymore lol but an interesting development on the McFarland front is that Oak Hills’ head coach was just named the head coach at Fairfield
Yea very weird timing being its June and 2 months from the seasons starting.

OH beat FF last year. this was a move motivated by $$

Correct me if I'm wrong..But wasn't Rodenberg hired to stop the flow of kids from Indian Hill to Private? 17 out of 22 8th graders leaving, along with the Cole kid... Mission failed.. Wasn't Reardon brought over for offense and QB development? Now Indian Hill has to use the best Running Back in the state at QB and I assume run Wildcat all night.
Take Daniel off the team and they dont have one winning season under Rodenberg.

Finally . At the very least, you might want to learn how to spell your favorite coaches name.

Just seeing if anyone knows of any more movement on kids before I try and get this write up started?

Mcfarland from Taylor to Oak Hills

Cole from IH to St. X

those are the 2 notable moves i know of from kids departing the CHL.

Any others?
