2025 Canton McKinley Football Season

If this is their choice then either he blew them away and is really good or they just settled on someone because everyone else backed out

I believe Terrel recommended him if this is actually true. Jenks looks to be the guy with the good info so he's probably correct.

Renard ‘Renzy’ Parnell II, the Hoban defensive coordinator. He goes by the nickname Renzy, and graduated from Garfield in 1999 and earned a degree from Kent State University. Renzy played football at Garfield and at KSU.

If true, will it work having a defensive coordinator with no head coaching experience become a first time head coach?

Personally I think it's a solid hire. He's been with Hoban for a while now so he has state championship experience. His family has deep roots in the coaching world between Hoban and Garfield maybe some will come along. I wonder if Adrian Brown will come along. It looks like McKinley is going to open enrollment so we'll see how that works out. Also the community won't be able to complain if you know what I mean and he can say I got this because he has coached in big games including Massillon games.Hopefully this administration allows him to build a coaching staff and hire a really good OC. He'll need to build this thing from the ground up.

You know as well as i do the select few in the community will always complain no matter who they bring in or what they do but let's give him a chance

Tentative

The new head coach is in fact Parnell.
He brings the same thing to the table that Hall did....does a great job of connecting with kids and addressing their needs on and off the field and has no head coaching experience. I believe it will be official Monday night as a special BOE meeting has been called.

I'll be willing to bet he will coach the McKinley kids way different then Hall did but we shall see.

I think he will bring in some REAL assistant coaches with real coaching experience at a higher level. Not some people you got off the street like Antonio Hall did.
Only if the school board allows him to and hope they do let him coach his way and brings in who he sees fit according to what he needs and sees and not their friends of friends

And still waiting to see if CCS will go to open enrollment.

I believe open enrollment was part of the deal for him to come.
If the district goes to open enrollment for athletic reasons, it has issues that no football coach can fix.

Why do you have such an issue with CCS going to open enrollment?
