2024 Steubenville Big Red

3.5- 4 hour drive from Cincinnati on Week 1 on a Friday night. McNicholas will probably have 3-4 buses of parents and adults. Not many students are going to (or be permitted to) make that trip on their own. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and my wife is from Midland so I’ve driven that route many times.
McNick will travel well. Always do. Hopefully Steubenville plays a cleaner game than they did in their last game they played last year vs Alter. Was at the game.... was embarrassed for their Coach, program and school.

The best was lil saccoccia throwing the ball at the ref's face..cause he was pissed at all his teamates not blocking and straight up quitting. Not even George Kellas could of "blue collared" that one.lol

If you know the exact play then there most be something more than gently giving the ball to the ref.He chucked it at him.Horrible night.

I saw refs get hit in the face 3 times last year in the games I attended… Not sure what the big deal is.

I know the play, and he did not throw the ball off his face. I agree that he flipped it too hard in that situation, and it was a horrible game, but claiming he threw the ball off his face is a lie. View attachment 58706
He didnt look and chucked it and knew he messed up as soon as he did it.I guess you win by 4 inches!.Look at all his blockers.lol

Not sure why we don’t host a 7 on 7 tourney. It would bring money into the town and the program. Here in Florida I’ve been to a few and I was impressed with the quality of the competition and attendance.

Does Big Red show their home games on NFHS? Trying to make a decision about attending Game 1 v. McNick.

Dont know where your driving from but i would def make the trip. Not to many home openers at Harding are a 50/50 game. From what i seen in big red last year..they are a tad above just solid.

I’ll probably make it. I live in the east Cincy suburbs probably about a 3.5 hr drive. My wife is from Beaver County and I grew up west of Greensburg (Irwin) so passed thru Stuby many times. My son is also a Freshmen coach so he may be on the team bus. McNick usually has 3-4 bus loads at distant games, assume that will be an option.

Yes, they show the games on NFHSN. I am not sure what the Big Red hater from Weirton, WV is talking about. Big Red should be a much better team overall this year, and their openers over the last eight years have undoubtedly been 100x better than Weir High's. McNich is an intriguing opponent; hopefully it will be good game.

Season Openers-
Jackson Reed DC (10-3) D1
Upper St. Clair PA (9-4) D2
Penn Hills (16-0) D2
Allderdice (3-7) D1
Mooney - Corona
Olentangy Liberty (5-6) D1
Louisville (3-7) D3
Ursuline (13-1) D3
McNich D3
Yeah go team!Go Weir!.lol

UH. I'm saying it's D4 Ohio High School Football, not the SEC. I also believe that if Big Red is healthy, they will be an improved team and one of the best in their region. I think McNich is a very good program, and the game should be good.

We've had plenty of solid openers and home openers recently, and I wonder why you'd talk down or pretend they didn't play Penn Hills, Dover, Jackson Reed, Upper St. Clair, Mooney, Olentangy Liberty, Ursuline, and New Philadelphia. I was also surprised by your comments towards McNich fans about their 50-3 loss to Hartley last year.
Or they lost to Alter by 21 vs 48 for big red.

The Hartley game was an aberration. I’ve been following McNick for 10+ years and never have seen such a meltdown. Closest thing I recall was a 49-0 loss to Alter in 2014 when both teams were undefeated and ranked top 5 in the state. The Alter game last year was closer then the score indicates ( I know but it was honest) score was 7-7 in 3rd quarter. I expect McNick to show up. They should be a better team then last year….12,13 returning starters, Sophomore class that was undefeated as Frosh, a pair of twins who transferred from St.X , overall better depth. Coach Orlando knows all about Big Red. I doubt he would schedule the game if he didn’t think he had a squad that could compete.

The kids play hard for sure, which i love. The fans are full of themselve's...get old.
I agree that “SOME” fans are full of themselves. But that’s not all Big Red fans, that’s what I take issue with. When someone is negative about the Red...look out,

Big Red stands defender,
of the CRIMSON AND THE BLACK!

I don’t think our fans are any different than the fan bases of other strong and championship programs. Every fan base has idiots. Being the 3rd winningest program (soon to be 2nd) in Ohio a certain amount of pride goes with that. Steubenville City schools in particular SHS is a huge point of pride in a town where there is not much else to get behind and Big Red football leads the way.
