2024 St. Ignatius Football

The new website also has a varsity roster that includes Quinn Woidke. Did he end up deciding to play football this year?

There are names on that roster who are no longer in the program. I suspect it was a copy and paste and adding the year to the player’s grad class.

Cleveland.com preview is out

Taking a guess at starters (lots returning on O, more questions on D):

QB: Chalhoub
RB: Washington (Minnesota commit), Colwell
WR: Cody Haddad (OSU commit), Simms, Tekancic, Cupp, Trey Haddad
TE: O’Leary
LT: Van der Oord (MAC offers)
LG: Young
C: Rick (Davidson offer)
RG: Van der Cica
RT: Conroy (Tons of P5 offers, just picked up USC)

DE: Taylor,
DE: Papesh, Hughes
NT: Southworth, Scott
OLB: Rivera
MLB: Conrad
OLB: ? Not sure at this spot
CB: Drummond
SS: Jayshon Thomas
FS: Cody Haddad
SS: Cupp, Jimmy Thomas (if still playing fb?)
CB: Reali

All the heights and weights listed in the Cleveland.com article are from a year ago. I'm interested to see how much growth (height, weight and strength) there has been since then, especially from the upcoming sophomores and juniors.

Also getting decent playing time last season (and should be in the mix this season) include:
Raffin (WR), McManamon (LB), Seighman (DB), Bykowski (FB/LB), Todaro (OL), Miller (OL), Glowe (OL), Shockley (DL)

Charlie Young started out last season as the starting TE and had to move inside to the OLine because the sophomores starting at the time were just undersized. I wonder what position he'll play this season? Several of the names listed could end up in different positions this season, which seems to happen every year. We'll learn more at Thursday's scrimmage.

Haddad's, O'Leary, Van Der Oord...A lot of legacy players on this team. Those names were eagle killers back in the late 90's and early 2000's. Looking forward to seeing how the wildcats' season plays out.

who will be the next great Ignatius QB? Someone not even in the program now? As in not even in the 9th grade.

Coaches have to be hoping someone steps up on the OL so Young, who has more value as a blocking TE and short yardage receiver, can be moved back to TE; Young played well enough last year at OG as the Cats scrambled to find 5 OL who could hold their own at the varsity level..

It's really amazing how long it's been since they've had a QB who was considered one of the best in the area (let alone the state).

Think you mis-managed Fromtatino last year! I think he’s going to be great.
Put too much on him to fast last year. Rather than put him in , in more manageable situations. But that’s from an outsider. Because he lost confidence
My two cents.

He and his brother are major baseball prospects, so they moved to Fla where they can play year round.

You could say most of the team was mismanaged last season.

Couple that with a lack of talent and you get a season full of blowouts and embarrassing losses.
