Maumee v Oak Harbor this week. This is the match up of the week and maybe the most important game in Karchner's young career at Maumee. If they can pull this off, they will have successfully placed themselves atop the NBC in just two short years. Is it possible?
Very possible. Both have similar resumes this year after three weeks. Haven't played against top talent but put up points and defenses played as they should have. This might be the best game in the NBC all season!

I agree with this assessment for the most part. Maumee could drop down to the Good but non-champion section. These next two weeks will tell if they're contenders or pretenders. If they drop both in back to back weeks I could also see them struggling with Genoa and Otsego as the season goes on. Especially since both of those teams are young and will continue to improve.
I just believe those 3 are the only ones who truly have enough skill and size to compete for a title, the next 3 teams are capable of beating any of the top ones but I doubt they could do it consistently enough.

It’s definitely possible but it’ll be the first real challenge for the defense this year and probably the toughest dual threat qb or qb in general they’ll face all year.

Maumee has played 8 games in the NBC now and has given up 30+ in 7 of them and 40+ in 5…Oak Harbor scored TD’s on 8 of 9 possessions tonight and they were only stopped once because of two penalties to start the 2nd half. The offense looked ok, scored 17 in the first half but stalled out in the 2nd half with a questionable reverse on 3rd and short being blown up and an interception in the end zone took away a scoring opportunity. The defense continues to be a huge issue. The difference in talent wasn’t worth 39 points…

I think it became clear tonight it’ll be OH and Eastwood then everyone else. Rossford put up a heck of a fight against Otsego, what happened there?

Oak Harbor is by far an away the best team in the conference, but Maumee was hyped up to be an unstoppable offensive force that was scoring 50 points a game. Now looking back on it, those 3 wins look way worse than before. They’ll lose back to back against Eastwood this week, but they’re going to be on a tier level with Genoa, Otsego, and Lake until further notice.

Maybe. Running clock can start in the first half.
This clown (Smurf) was saying they’d lose by 60, something whitmer hasn’t done to anybody since 2014, it’s also the last time they even scored 60 in a game. I guessed Maumee would lose roughly 56-14…I stand by it

I'm going to go out a little on the limb here and say, while I agree with you, I don't know if they belong on the same tier as Genoa yet, either. We shall see.

Haha the only clown here is you. Stop digging your hole

I remember when clownyeah said that Liberty Benton and Port Clinton would be joining the NBC.
Usually these things don’t really get going until the Spring anyways. Sure it might not happen but if AD’s bring up the rumors I have no problem sharing it here

Welcome back to Earth, Maumee. Still, being competitive is much better than what they were in the past.

After the first week of conference play, I can confidently say no one will come within 2 scores of Oak Harbor.

Eastwood will lose by 14+ to OH, and beat everyone else by 14+

Maumee, Genoa and Otsego will all beat each other.

Lake and Rossford will be a good game, and they will play the teams in the tier above relatively close.

Fostoria loses by 20+ for the next 6 weeks.

The thing that so many folks in Toledo and it's suburbs forget about the quality "country" schools are that they usually have big, athletic lines. Sure Oak Harbor and Eastwood have good skill players, but they'll destroy you up front and have giant holes for their backs to run through. And then on defense they'll plug all your gaps with that same speed and size. Just look at Liberty Center, they're probably on par with Perrysburg/AW up front playing in the NWOAL. Even Napoleon could not keep up for four quarters and they may very well win the Cardinal division this season.

I would not sleep on Eastwood, they have a ton of speed on the perimeter. That should be a great matchup with Oak Harbor

Man, Maumee gets beat last week and it shuts the thread down. Do they have a chance against Eastwood tonight?

Really, that's the best game in the league tonight. Lake v Genoa could be interesting if Lake is much improved, but Genoa is sitting at 3-1 and playing good defense after an initial week 1 loss.

Anything interesting to look for this week? Where is everyone going game wise this week? I might venture out of the NBC and go watch Delta v Archbold. I feel that's an interesting matchup that will tell how good Delta is or isn't.

After two weeks of league play I think preseason predictions have pretty much held true. Oak Harbor is the class of the league, maybe Eastwood gives them a game week 9 but I doubt it. The Eagles need to take care of business against Genoa and Otsego but 2nd place looks likely after getting by the Panthers. Maumee, Genoa and Otsego will probably have some good battles fighting for 3rd-5th. Lake is probably going to comfortably finish 6th ahead of a struggling Rossford and Fostoria. Not really anything too shocking but maybe a bit of disappointment at Maumee, Lake and Rossford.

Maumee/Eastwood was a very good game.

Late in the 4th quarter Maumee had a chance to get the ball back down 6 a couple of times but Eastwood converted some key 4th downs on their final possession to ultimately go up two scores and seal the game.

I think Eastwood can hang with Oak Harbor but I see the Rockets winning by 10-13 points.

He won't be the only coach to lose their job at Rossford. New AD will be cleaning house across all sports.
Rossford AD isn't new?

Drusback, if they go 2-8 this year, would be 7-23 over the last 3 years. 17-32 over the last 5 years. Have ran into some really good Oak Harbor, Eastwood, Otsego, and Elmwood teams during that stretch. Rough stretch to not be very good. Covid season of '20 was the last winning year there.

Per my sources, Todd Drusback to be relieved of his duties at the end of the season.
Drusback is a good coach. I can understand it's been a long time there and it's been awhile since they've been good, but I don't think the demographics and athletes there are particularly out of step with the results they've had.

The expectations because of the facilities are unworldly

Few years. Let the hoop coaches he inherited throw the program into the dumpster. He’s sat back and evaluated and raised expectations this year across the board. Not saying finding qualified coaches will be easy, but the districts sports expectations will be difficult to match the facilities us taxpayers provided. Build and they will come might not be working so far…..

I believe Maumee was missing one of their RB’s, Midcalf as well. Didn’t see him playing at all.

I’ve been wondering about that job, Northview, and Ross…

I would take this with a grain of salt, but this can start some Head Coach candidate conversations!

Eric Page - Central Catholic WR Coach (Former NFL WR)
Shane Kinnee - Maumee OC
Mike Ward - Perrysburg DC
Tyler Bitz - Whitmer QB Coach
