Scheduling guaranteed L’s just doesn’t make much sense to me. Not sure what you gain by putting your kids in a position where they have essentially no chance of actually winning the game. There’s plenty of good and notable teams that we can play to put the kids on a big stage against big time competition.
We finally win state and now all of a sudden want to play Mater Dei? There’s levels to this and we gotta keep building up to that level.
It's been proven many times where one school puts out many more prospects than another when the teams play at least half the time the teams with the less number of prospects wins. Lakeland Florida was number 1 in the country in 2006. They came up and played St X. They had 6 All Americans and 18 d1 prospects. Cincy X had 9 d1 prospects and 1All American. X lost to Elder in the semi's that year. Lakeland beat them 26 to 22 and X had the ball on the 9 yard line 1st and goal in the last 40 seconds of the game. I could give you a lot more examples. When thru the years when they have had these showcase games Ohio and the other states it's been about 50/50. Also thru the years Massillon ,Moeller,St Ignatius and Canton McKinley have all won mythical national championships. Those teams were some of the best high school teams anywhere and could have beaten anyone. I've seen MaterDei, Gorman, Img academy, St Thomas in Florida etc. in my opinion Ohio best teams could Play right with them. Even Chuck Kyle Ignatius great coach said he felt his Ignatius teams, McKinley, Hoban, Moeller, Massillon, StX could hold their own with anybody. Ohio is a strong state for footballGet thru Pa's top team which could actually be scheduled then start talkin bout Florida,TX,Cali etc.
When in the game of football is it ever a guaranteed L ? Nobody is saying we have to play Mater Dei I am just saying if there is a national sponsor and that’s the team we end up playing then so be it. There isn’t levels to this at all, it isn’t like we are a Sun Belt school trying to play an SEC team.Scheduling guaranteed L’s just doesn’t make much sense to me. Not sure what you gain by putting your kids in a position where they have essentially no chance of actually winning the game. Agree 100%. It was hard enough to find Ohio teams to play the last 7-8 years, after winning theMassillon originally scheduled Bishop Gorman in 2020 though (cancelled due to COVID). Obviously, I can't speak for Massillon fans, but I don't think that the Tigers are "acting tough" simply because they finally got over the hump. Coach Moore has spent his career in the MAC, GCL, and now Massillon, an independent public school that doesn't exactly have a grocery list of teams to chose from. I highly doubt that he's intimidated by anybody. I long for the days when my alma mater had that mentality.
Just my two cents...
More instances of teams winning as an underdog, hell we watched 2 of them happen just this year at PBTS.lol there’s too many instances to count of football games that are decided before the game even starts.
St Joes PrepMore instances of teams winning as an underdog, hell we watched 2 of them happen just this year at PBTS.
Still waiting on that list of “plenty of good and notable teams”….
Most of those teams are similar to Mater DeiSt Joes Prep
Bergen Catholic
Dematha
Good Counsel
Ben Davis
St Ed
Hoban
Moeller
No. They are all a step below. Right where we are atMost of those teams are similar to Mater Dei![]()
That’s the entire point of this conversation! LmaoShow one post that says "Massillon would beat Mater Dei."
Oh, I thought the point of the convo was guaranteed wins. That’s the entire point of this conversation! Lmao
Nope. It’s about competitive gamesOh, I thought the point of the convo was guaranteed wins.
Oh great one please tell us all about Mater Dei, how many games did you go to last year and watch them play ? Anyone can read online about them….You people are delusional if you think Massillon would beat Mater Dei. Frankly, showing your azzz that you are clueless about them.
Says who ?No. They are all a step below. Right where we are at
Baltimore and San Fran are overwhelming favorites to make the Super Bowl, would you put $10,000 on that ? I mean clearly the other 3 teams in each conference don’t have a chance to win.Nope. It’s about competitive games
Always a Tiger fan or 2 on here that always have to be negative…. Disgusted we won a title only scoring 1 TD…Show one post that says "Massillon would beat Mater Dei."
I remember in 95’ when Miami Southridge came up here and had all of this Florida speed etc, yes they won 20-7 over a 3 loss Tiger team but it sure wasn’t a blowout at all.Who cares about IMG and their all star team. I’d rather see St Thomas Aquinas, Lakeland, Chaminade-Madonna, Miami Central or Miami Northwestern(if they weren’t down the last couple seasons).
Lol they no different then Bosco and Gorman. The only difference is they just closeThis is one that I would be all in for![]()
Bruh I don't even know why he posted that list because I was thinking the same exact thing half of the teams that he just named is no different than playing MD or Bishop Gorman. Sad part is Bishop Gorman isn't even that good according to a lot of the people in the national scene Bishop Gorman does not play a lot of big-time opponents are they a good team yes but to be like Oh I'm scared to play them F NOMost of those teams are similar to Mater Dei![]()
Actually it's about making it into the playoffs I mean don't get me wrong I understand where you're coming from but look at Springfield from this past season. They legitimately played a tough schedule ended up going 5-5 and playing in the division 1 state championship if you play a tough regular season schedule bro by the time you get to the playoffs it become easy obviously until the state championship game. If we play St John's Bosco or Bishop Gorman along with some other tough opponents weeks 11, 12,13 and 14 become cake walks because you done played teams wayyyyyyyy better than them. I believe with everything in my heart us playing Valdosta and St John's collegiate helped us beat Hoban this year and we all D2 goes thru Hoban and rumor has it TCC might be back im D2 this year. In Massillon case go ahead and challenge yourself throughout the regular season to prepare for them teams in the end.Nope. It’s about competitive games
I was at that game and had the pleasure of sitting next to Steve Everitt, former Browns center, that was his high school so he swung by... He seemed like an all around good guy that was impressed with the whole Massillon thing... In ohio I wish there were smaller numbers in each league, if there were just a little bit more flexiblity rather than teams only having open dates the first two or three weeks There is so many interesting match ups we could have but it's near impossible to schedule but it is what it is. Avon, Hudson, Riverside,Nordonia,SVSM Olmsted Falls, Mentor, Cleveland Hts, wadsworth..etc...it's really a shame.. of course like some of you are stating it takes both tems wanting to play each other. Then throw in a few of the columbus and cincy schools, there's plenty of high caliber teams, but as it stands those are all pipe dreams... I trust Moore will do the best he can, but I think the 3-4 out state teams are probably here to stay, wish it was 1-2 maxI remember in 95’ when Miami Southridge came up here and had all of this Florida speed etc, yes they won 20-7 over a 3 loss Tiger team but it sure wasn’t a blowout at all.

1. The conversation had nothing to do with making the playoffs as basically everyone makes it so that’s irrelevant.Actually it's about making it into the playoffs I mean don't get me wrong I understand where you're coming from but look at Springfield from this past season. Having the common sense to know that we can’t beat Mater Dei isn’t being negative. Those on the other side of this conversation sound delusional and ignorant.Always a Tiger fan or 2 on here that always have to be negative…. Disgusted we won a title only scoring 1 TD…![]()
