2024 Massillon Tigers

Bergan is in the same league as Bosco and beats them on a regular basis. But I agree, Gorman, IMG and Mater Dei are on a whole different level. I'm happy that Massillon can be considered a top 25 tier team. All things considered, That's really saying something.
Just think 10 years ago we couldn’t even beat Perrysburg, Highland and Toledo Whitmer. Those years were like the damn dark ages.

Not the same Bosco

I may be biased but I think the 2020 Hoban team which finished 11 and 0 and ranked between 5th and 8th in every national poll was better than this Bergan team. Hoban played Bergan in 2021 and lost big but Hoban graduated 18 starters off that team and Bergan had like 17 starters back. Hoban beat Eds 35 to 0 and Massillon 35 to 6 and had the running clock on 9 of their 11 opponents in 2020.That Hoban team along wit Canton MCKinley, Cincinnati Moeller, St Ignatius and that Massillon team last year were the 5 best and fastest defenses I ever seen and I have been following and going to high school football games starting in 1963.
That was the best Hoban team I’ve ever seen. Weird season, obviously.

My bad. St.john Bosco is the power house out of California, while Don Bosco is a decent team from New Jersey. Bottom line is these behemoth private schools follow their own rules and should be separated from the public schools, unless these rules, specifically in Ohio, would allow for the same equality in athelet acquisition. In other words, let a student athelet choose their school of choice and let all schools advertise and entice athletes with 0 consequences, just like our private "enterprise" schools. If you don't like that, have separate championships for the Pinocchio's then have those champions play the public champion. Just a thought, I'm sure many have entertained. Otherwise, you may wait 53 years for a championship .

Like I mentioned before there have been 2 or 3 times in the past where public schools have sent a petition out to separate public and private schools from playing each other. The voting has failed by a large margin every time.

I feel sorry for his son. He has to walk around trying to hold his head up high as his dad is making himself look like a total idiot. Hard to do for a promising young man when every time his father posts he makes himself less and less credible. It's almost impossible to make heads or tails of plenty of what he says because of his lack of a good education. He would be better off posting less and encouraging his son more to pursue excellence and a good education, so he won't turn out uneducated also.
He never mentions anything good. Never comes on here after a win to discuss the game (unless he's unhappy). Never mentions the study tables that Nate and Becca have set up, never mentions the multiple college showcases set up to help the kids. One could wonder if he was using Massillon as a stepping stone. 🤷‍♂️

Correct Bosco from Jersey is DON Bosco and the national power is JOHN Bosco. The one from Jersey use to be a power however last year they were 5-6. I know the privates have a huge advantage but I'm not for no separate playoff or anything of that matter. It waters it down and if Massillon would win a public championship if they had one you would get no respect they could still say you didn't beat the best if you didn't beat the private champ. Best thing they could do is just have the 7 divisions and have a open Divsion kind of how D1 is now where you can opt up just call it open division. That case some of your powers would choose to play in that when they think they could compete. No excuse for waiting 53 years for a championship or waiting that long again plenty of public schools won championships including Mck winning back to back and bringing a end to the Iggy dynasty at the time as they also dethroned Moeller in 81 when they were at their prime. It can be done

I agree and I don't want separation either....however one has to wonder why, when separation IS brought up (it has been and will again) people say you can't be the best until you beat the private school champion. I know why and I agree, it should tell us something though.

People would say that Ignatius, St. Ed, Moeller, X, Elder are the champions were they to win it during a separation, but if McKinley, or any other D1 public were to win a public school championship, they would say they're not real champions until they be one of the privates. Same with Massillon, Avon & Winton Woods compared to TCC, Hoban and LaSalle.

Very true because they look at the privates as the top dogs. The reason is because for many years they dominated the finals , they still do to a point but the publics have caught up some as of late. Mostly your smaller Divsions is won by the publics though

My point though is WHY did they dominate the finals, making them the "teams to beat" to be considered the "real" champions?

The he Bergen game really didn’t drop our rank horribly
Guess that’s one benefit to playing teams at the top

I would never send a kid to a catholic school for the following reasons.
1. They claim to offer a morals based education. As a morals based education, you should want to help all kids but they only care about winning and helping athletes.
2. Again they claim to offer a morals based education. In the second quarter of the game against Bergen CATHOLIC with the score tied 14-14, one of the coaches for Bergen sat his players under their tent. I was sitting right behind the team on the visitors side. This coach screamed as loud as he could, “That team on the other side of the field stinks and you are tied with them. Do you M——- F——— want to play this game or not.” He then went on a 30 second tirade with about every other word being the F word. Then their team scored to take the lead and the players came off the field yelling, “they ain’t nothing, F—- them F—- them.” Everyone around heard them including the little kids standing along the railing. I’m not making any of this up. The couple sitting in front of me turned around and said to me, “did they really just say that.” It was disgraceful. And I’m sorry but I have never ever heard that kind of language from the Massillon coaches or players. The catholic schools care so much about winning that there are no morals. I have written a letter to the Bergen coach. He may just throw it in the trash but we will see.

Love the “Morality” viewpoint coming from a tiger fan. Fascinating to say the least.

Man I simply called out his LIE , proved it and I’m still the bad guy while you all still mentioning my son .. funny stuff !!!
I can’t believe I’m on a Assillon site bc I was sent a screen shot of you pulling cards. I’m 42 years old and I have fam that plays on this team I hate. Dont throw stones in a glass house . If yo son not good enough to tote that thang then so be it if he is good enough then so be it. But don’t act like you wasn’t riding us in that red in black back in the day and you was beggging us once we hit college old man. I’ve said enough.

I've noticed that too. In d 7,6, 5, 4 it seems the public schools have won more state championships in football. Marion Local, Coldwater, Steubenville, Kirtland all public schools have won multiple championships. Marion Local is currently on a 63 game winning streak and has won more state championships than Iggy and Moeller.

I'm sorry you had to experience that. Sounds devastating.

Big week for Massillon and St. Ed’s to shake off the losses. I’m sure they have a lot of frustration to take out this week and want to stay / get healthy for week 5. I heard Ed’s had two starters leave last weeks game with injuries. Hope they are able to play next week. Should be an interesting week for both teams.

So because it’s 2024 and not 1958, we shouldn’t try and set a good example. Is that what your saying?
No I’m saying for you to say you have never heard Massillon coaches or players use bad language is silly, or for that matter any coaches or players on any team.
