2024 Football

I guess the question becomes, is there a team’s defense that can slow it down enough to beat them come November?

I have not seen Lakota West or WW in person. Are they candidates?
Moe obviously has great players, but what makes them so difficult to go against is the number of options they can go to. Even if you take out 1-2 of the weapons with scheme, there are still 3-4 left that can hurt you, and Ponatoski is a good enough QB to not force to things that aren't there, he doesn't need to. He spreads it around to EVERYONE.

Their running game has also improved, which just adds to an opposing defensive coordinator's nightmare.

I think this Moeller offense is very similar to what we saw from StXavier in 2020 when they won the state championship. They had McCaughey at QB with Clifford/Patterson at WRs, Klare at TE, and Kellom/Vsansky at RB. There were some other nice pieces on that offense but these were the big names. The other part is that offense also had three D1 College Offensive Linemen and four if you are counting the sixth OL that would play from time to time. Their offense was as good as I have seen for HS football in this area.

Moeller has Ponotoski at QB with Love/Fogler at WRs, Hamilton/McCutchen at TE, and Josleyn/Ware at RB. I realize Khayo and Adams are also a part of the mix and it is a bit different formula than what StX had in 2020, but no doubt it is a great balance of WRs, TEs, and RBs. I don't know if there are too many DBs that can cover Love or Fogler. Both of these kids are big and fast. It seems like most teams try to double team Love and then Fogler just runs right past his defender for the long TD receptions. The only possible issue I see with Moeller is their offensive line is not stellar at times but overall this offense knows how to score points.

I don't think Lakota West or Winton Woods has enough athletes to slow down Moeller on offense. The big unknown is Springfield. People can say they lost a lot of talent but all they do in the post season every year is win. Mo Douglas does an outstanding job of developing his players over the course of the season. Even last year they rolled into the playoffs with 5 losses and by the end of the season they were a completely different team. Springfield just has so many dudes that nobody knows anything about until late in the season. It is very likely Moeller will have to beat Springfield to get the finals.

I wouldn't count out Dayton Wayne. If fully healthy Moeller beats Springfield. Last year on last series was some coaching blunders & Love was injured the week prior. Hopefully everyone stays healthy.

R2 playoffs. Any chance LE keeps this one within reach late in the game?

Kitna is a D1 QB commit with several big targets. Moe’s D definitely gets tested.

I haven’t seen Kitna play. Is he mostly a dropback passer or does he run, too? The defense has had some difficulty with running quarterbacks this year. If he’s a runner, hopefully they adjust. It sounded like on another thread LE’s defense struggles to stop people. If that’s the case, we should put up a lot of points.

He is a dual threat. I’ve watched him twice (vs LW & WC) and he was impressive. He will easily be the best QB Moe has faced this season.

LE defense is indeed below average, so that helps. But, I do not think Moe’s secondary is anything special.

Nice win last night, but going for it on 4th and 2 on your own 41 yard line on the opening possession? That one was a bit of a head scratcher. GBM 💪 🏈
And then later, to punt on Princeton’s 37 yard line?! Goal line calls a little off too; I know Princeton has a good D line, but frustrating.

On a positive, some of QB1’s throws continue to amaze me for a HS player. And Love catching and running—impressive!

I am sure both teams will be ready next week.

In past years, if you had spectrum, you were able to watch them via the Spectrum News App. However, this does not appear to be the case now.
If you have a Spectrum account, you should be able to view the game at this link or with SpectrumNews app:
To find the game on the SpectrumNews app, go to the High School Football tab at the top, then click Watch HS Replays, then scroll down to bottom and click View All Previous Events. The Moeller vs St X is the last recorded game from 11/22. Good luck finding it with the app.

Thanks Bull!

We watched them at BWW a couple of years ago, there are several up north (Loveland/ Maineville area)that will be showing the game too.
Thank you!

I saw a couple places were advertising they would have the game on too.

I wasn’t sure if there was a “staple” place. If I remember correctly I thought Moeller had their coaches show at a local sports bar on Tuesday or Wednesday night.

That used to be a place on Montgomery Ave across from the car dealership but they closed a few years back.

Hey Birdshit Moe chokes again!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Moe once again does less with more.

I quote Nick Saban, " if you don't pay the right guys, you'll be s--- out of luck."

Truly, Moe simply got out played and coached. It happens at all levels of sports and for Moe it unfortunately happened in the State Final.

If there was a program that didn't play the right guys, it was St. X. Kinda ballsy to come into Moe's site after the soap opera that was St X football the past 3 years. 4 Regional titles, 11-0 vs the GCL and a state runner-up. Which program really underachieved and did less with more?

I understand the X-Moe rivalry, but I will reiterate again the dominance Moe has had for 5+ years.

Since 2000, 3 volleyball state titles, 1 baseball state title, I can't even count the number of final four and finals appearances over that span. They haven't lost a game in the GCL in the rolling year in the big 3 sports. Football GCL champs 3 years in a row, baseball GCL champs 3 years in a row, soccer two years in a row.

Literally, the ONLY school that cannot be second-guessed right now in Cincinnati is Moeller. I'm sure they would have loved to get over that final hump in a couple of these state finals games, but they have been and continue to kill it on the athletic fields. Domination.

This is a sports chat board so from purely a sports wins and loses standpoint that might be somewhat accurate. But let’s really be honest Sports is not and should not be most important at X. It is at Moeller and with that in mind, Moeller hasn’t won their last game of the year with the best players scholarships can buy, they cannot afford to build a stadium so they have no home field. A sports 1st school without championships or home field seems like a failure to me

It was a joke and to push a few buttons, which always gets the Moe faithful going. :) By the way, how much tuition you think the two Mr. Ohio's paid at Moe?

Five years ago, Moe decided to follow the LaSalle football blueprint, minus the State Titles. Hire youth football coaches to recruit inner city, maximize vouchers to full extent, and subsidize or offer free tuition to some of the best athletes around Cincy. It doesn't limit the success of Crusaders athletics, but it's comical Moe fans can't admit or acknowledge this common practice on Montgomery Rd. It's OK to admit, it's not a secret.
