2024 Eastern Buckeye Conference

Is WB running back better than Braham ?
They're comparable but I'd give a slight edge to Braham, the WB kid is a very solid RB but he's also 5'8 and 175lbs so he gets it done a little differently than Braham does. And admittedly some of his stats are a little inflated by playing on some extremely talented teams that you couldn't load the box against and also having to this point 51 games in his career to accrue those numbers but he's undoubtedly a top 5 RB in West Branch history which is one hell of a list to be on

What makes this West Branch offense so dangerous and unpredictable is quarterback Jeremiah Thomas, who will likely have 2,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing going into the playoffs. Because he's not a pocket passer per se and has incredible speed and elusiveness, West Branch's offense is tough to prepare for in regard to trends, because Thomas just breaks things off when the pass isn't there and outruns defenders up the middle or around end. Then you throw in those two record-breaking receivers in Joey Jackson and Anthony Perry and a 6-7 tight end in Gavin Gregory, plus a 3-time 1,000-yard running back in Boston Mulinix, and that's quite an offense to defend.

And Struthers drops a tight one to Poland, still need things to finalize but this might be worst case scenario for West Branch

West Branch locked into the 4. Glenville won today, so they appear locked into the 5.

Not sure about anyone else, but NDCL will have enough L2s to jump Mooney when Eitel gets all the results in, so WB won't get Mooney in 1st round. They'll get either Hubbard, NDCL, or Buchtel. Buchtel is waiting on the results of 2 City Series games that will be played tomorrow. Ravenna lost to Field.

Here are the offensive points scored and defensive points allowed for EBC teams through the 10-week regular-season:

OFFENSIVE POINTS SCORED PER GAME
1. West Branch (43.1 ppg.)
2. Salem (22.6 ppg.)
3. Alliance (21.5 ppg.)
4. Carrollton (19.2 ppg.)
5. Marlington (16.2 ppg.)
6. Minerva (3.6 ppg.)

DEFENSIVE POINTS ALLOWED PER GAME
1. West Branch (6.7 ppg.)
2. Carrollton (20.2 ppg.)
3. Salem (20.7 ppg.)
4. Alliance (29.4 ppg.)
5. Marlington (33.3 ppg.)
6. Minerva (37.1 ppg.)

I hate the OHSAA for allowing this BS.
Hey, WB, a 10-0 season. Your reward?
…………..
It happened to somebody every year in the old system too, it'll never be perfect but it really is a travesty that 2 of the top 5 teams in that region got to absolutely game the enrollment numbers to get them basically whatever they want

Here's an impressive stat for rugged D4 Region 13. Six of the 16 playoff-qualifying schools in the region are former state football champions (in the playoff format). Those schools include Cleveland Glenville, Mentor Lake Catholic, West Branch, Perry, Akron Buchtel and Youngstown Cardinal Mooney.

Sometimes it’s better not not schedule a game then to play a team like Howland who gives you 0 except a stat stuffer game. Without playing that game they’re probably not the 4 seed.

Glenville is the 5 but is realistically the 1 seed but they went the route Ursuline and Mooney used to go, challenge yourself in the regular season with heavy hitters and not worry about going undefeated so when you get to the playoffs the games are essentially easier

Final EBC standings:
West Branch 5-0 / 10-0
Carrollton 4-1 / 7-3
Alliance 3-2 / 4-6
Salem 2-3 / 3-7
Marlington 1-4 / 2-8
Minerva 0-5 / 1-9

This mentally also kept a lot of very good private schools out of the playoffs back in the 8 team era. 2011 Mooney wins the state title, 2012 Mooney drops games to Ignatius, Ed's, and Fitch and doesn't even make the playoffs

That’s why this is such a good way to schedule with it being 16 teams

Looking ahead to 2025, does anyone in the conference have a realistic chance to dethrone West Branch?
Warriors lose a lot of starters but they'll have a returnee at QB and TE, they have a really good looking (big) sophomore RB and a couple of promising WRs. Their JV team running clocked the 4 EBC teams they played (Minerva didn't have a JV team).
How many sophomores-to-be can step in for Carrollton and Alliance?

Well, let's see: West Branch will have the returning EBC Player of the Year in QB Jeremiah Thomas, who has accounted for 44 touchdowns and counting this year, a 6-7 returning D1 tight end and players waiting their turn from a JV team that went 10-0 and outscored their opponents, 394-41 and pitched seven shutouts this year. If they're not the favorite again, I'll be stunned. Plus, they'll have Alliance, Carrollton and Marlington at home next year. Their EBC road games will be Minerva and Salem. Really, the toughest part of their schedule will likely be their independent games with Canfield, Struthers, New Philadelphia and Chaney.

If the TE puts some weight on he can be very very good he has the tools
