2022 Cleveland Browns Thread

So they brought in a guy to rule on this whose background is as a prosecutor and in criminal law.

Wasn’t it already determined in Texas that Watson committed no crimes?

Shouldn’t they have brought in someone who has practiced in management/labor relations?

If ya really think that the fans look at the owners the same way they look at players......puhlease. Fans DGAF what the owners do.

the on field product is what pays the bills.

True, but are the NFL owners not subject to their own Code Of Conduct?

In news that no one could make up if they tried, Cleveland is hosting the National Massage Therapists convention this month. ?
Last night during that weather delay they had 3 commentators talking in the tunnel area asking what do the players do when this happens.

The two former players threw out 'hydrate, eat, stretch' and Rodney Harrison threw in 'get massages'. It was an innocent comment and no reaction was made, but I had to laugh at it!!!

I think the majority will be surprised if this isn't the scenario:

1. Buoyed into action by social media and the talking heads in the media, the NFL rejects the Robinson suspension in order to maintain good PR with the fans and ( most importantly) the sponsors.

2. Goodell brings in his own appointee so he can wash his hands to appear neutral ( but telling the man what his ruling needs to be) Watson is suspended indefinitely. If the decision is expected to come out next week, then the results are already known.

3. NFLPA takes the matter into court and no one knows how that will turn out, but the NFL comes out with their PR salvaged as much as they could. Ultimately, the NFL gets a happy ending.

4. The Browns are the most hated team in the NFL, while the team that facilitated the whole thing - the Texans - escape unscathed.

5. Meanwhile, Baker Mayfield leads his team to the playoffs.

6. Shortly after his return, Watson has a career ending injury.

Jersey sales for Cleveland came in
1. Joe Burrow
2. Baker Mayfield
3. Bill Cosby
4. Wild Thing
5. Deshaun Watson

Last nite at the Dinner looks like Door #2...BAM!

What more news can divide the team? Well, how about this?

D!psh!t is apparently unaware that the Browns drafted Chubb's future backup a couple of months ago and didn't notice how well D'Ernest Johnson did in his absence.

Now the word out of Berea is that Hunt demanded a trade. Nice loyalty to the team that rescued you off of the NFL disciplinary trash heap.

As for the appeal. Florio wrote:

Indeed, Peter Harvey’s connection to the NFL appears near the top of his online bio. It’s a selling point to be involved with pro football. An imprimatur that helps him land more clients. That’s not even a cynical viewpoint; it’s obvious. For the same reason medical practices clamor to be associated with the NFL and its teams, lawyers whose business interests rely on having high-dollar legal work to perform love to market themselves as being tied to The Shield.

Harvey won’t want to put that relationship at any risk. He’ll minimize the chance of that happening by giving Goodell whatever Harvey thinks Goodell wants. And it surely won’t be a guessing game. At some point, Harvey will know Goodell’s preference. And the factual findings of Judge Robinson, which are binding on the appeal process, give Harvey everything he needs to give Goodell anything he wants.

The person who needs a break is Kevin Stefanski, who has never had a normal off-season.

The Comissh says Watson is “predatory “ and 1 year suspension is warranted.

This has become too much a national political issue. If the NFL hopes to curry favor from fans and Congress, it must stand tough. Look for a lengthy suspension and Cleveland once again becoming the laughing stock of the league, but this time, without the smile and the rooting for the underdog that accompanied them since 1999. No one outside Cleveland will be rooting for them.

...and many of them will be laughing at them.

Pay back for the stupid contract for Watson,he wants Dee and the Gasman out of the league too...BAM!

Meanwhile, free agent signee Jakeem Grant is expected to miss the entire season with a torn Achilles. Never a dull moment with this organization.

The Browns have Watson as the face of their organization - Bengals Joe Burrow basically says it all.
