2022-23 SW D1

Final Update before Voting closes and seeds come out. This is not how I believe votes will finish, but I could see some surprises as Coaches tend to take care of their own league.

Quick Edit: crazy to see 11-18 separated by less than a pt. A reminder, the Power rank is an estimated point differential on a neutral court.

Final D1 Seeding for Cincinnati w point totals attached below
Hamilton and Western Hills voting is a joke; probably should go to the computer!
Hamilton voted Lakota West #4 seed, Edgewood #6, Mason #9 and West Clermont #13 Seed, C’mon Man!
Western Hills voted Oak Hills #1 Seed, St Ursula #2, Fairfield #3……..Ridiculous.

With WC getting 1 seed, it pretty much comes down to Lakota East at 2.
Do they want definitely WC in Reg Semis or leave it up to Mason to decide who they want in Reg Semis?
Predict LE will place themselves with WC in Reg Semi to avoid Princeton and Mason.
IF ALL SEEDS HOLD
Reg Semis 1) WC v LE, 2) Princeton v Mason

Thoughts Pre Seeding
1) Bet WC would have rather had 2 seed, too basically pick who they wanted in Reg Semis
2) Mason should be highly motivated only getting 3 seed
3) Princeton most likely saying, They gotta play us!

Hearing Dayton top 3 seeds, not confirmed
1) Bellbrook
2) Springboro
3) Beavercreek

Thanks for putting this all together.

Glad to see the voters were smarter than the computers for the most part.

Lebanon goes to Cincinnati for girls sectionals but goes to Dayton for boys. What's up with that?

After looking at the final voting, it looks as if the seeds were close to the Power Ratings. 20 teams within 1 spot of their seed and another 8 at 2 spots away. Only Colerain was more than 3 seeds away from the Power Rtg spot.

Some interesting games tonight could give insight into tournament.
Although the good D1 tournament games won't start happening until 3rd round/week of Feb 20.

Lakota East @ Princeton
Only meeting of the season, huge GMC title ramifications
East guarantees a share of title with win
Can't find any livestream info, if anyone knows???

Latest Top 10 released 1/30

Princeton 63
Lakota East 58

Mason 57
Bellbrook 37

Bellbrook will probably still maintain that 1 1st place vote next week, they always do

Bellbrook 50
Kings 52

Questionable foul call with under 2 seconds sent Kings to FT line for game winning FTs.

Foul or not; depth of teams in Cincinnati showing vs Dayton #1 Seed?
Very tough to win on road vs good teams.
Kudos to Bellbrook for scheduling tough Road games outside of SWBL! @Mason and @KINGS
Experience should benefit them greatly in District Final (if they can get by Wayne/Fairmont winner) most likely vs Lakota East.

How's everyone feeling heading into tourney? Starts tomorrow
Seemed like entire season rankings were based on 2 early season games.
West Clermont home win over Lakota East and Lakota East home win over Mason

With Princeton and Mason both beating East at home this week, does it diminish WC early season win?

Princeton has to love not many talking about them; still think Vikings are team to beat.

I would not underestimate both Lakota East and WC tho both could come out of southwest ohio still and could win the state championship but I do agree a cohesive Princeton team is the best in the region and should be considered the favorite

Not sure I'd totally discount Lakota's chances based on two road games in the same week against probably two top 5 teams in the state. And both games were winnable in the 4th quarter.

Between Princeton, WC, Mason and East, I think state title winner comes out of SWOH in D1.

Anyone see any potential upsets in the tny?
I don't see any upsets among Top 4 Seeds
Believe it will be chalk in Regional Semis:
Princeton v Mason 2/28 7PM
Lakota East v West Clermont 3/1 7PM

Strange that OHSAA has Reg 4 D1 Semis scheduled on 2 separate nights this year; not together.
Atmosphere LY at Lakota West for Winton Woods/Mason and Princeton/MND was electric, why change it? $$?
15 out of 16 Regional Semi Finals for Girls BB in OH are Doubleheaders; but not this one?

District Finals Predictions 2/25 @ Princeton*
SW 1
Dayton 2 Bellbrook
Cincinnati 2 Lakota East
SW2
Cincinnati 5 Mason
Dayton 1 Beavercreek
SW 3* (Game would be at Lakota West if Princeton is playing)
Cincinnati 3 Talawanda
Cincinnati 4 Princeton
SW 4
Dayton 3 Centerville
Cincinnati 1 West Clermont

"Possible" Upsets early rounds:
Cincinnati 1
#15 Winton Woods over #7 Kings
Trammell didn't play in 2nd game vs Kings, WW won 1st meeting; think Kings really wants WC and might look past WW
#7 Kings over #1 West Clermont
Extremely close late season game, Kings jumped into this Section instead of MND Tal Section
Cincinnati 2
#11 Harrison, #12 Lebanon, #14 Western Brown, #17 Fairfield
Could see any of these 4 coming out of this sub section to meet Lakota East
Cincinnati 3
#13 Milford over #9 Lakota West
West: Fox health?, late season struggles. Milford experience vs West younger squad
#13 Milford over #6 Talawanda
If Milford gets by Lakota West they've been competitive in ECC/WC game
O'Toole, Shuluga, McKenney, Tatum could match up well with Fears/Farris
Cincinnati 4
#20 Sycamore over #10 Walnut Hills
Sycamore has played much better late in season, Walnut inconsistent w/o Givens, M Givens going to play?
Cincinnati 5
#19 Seton over #8 Loveland
Loveland struggles to score, usually plays close games. Seton zone could frustrate Tigers

Dayton 1
#3 Beavercreek over #2 Springboro
Beavers must have jumped into Springboro's Section for a reason
Dayton 2
#5 Fairmont over #1 Bellbrook
Fairmont has played well late in season up until big loss @ Beavercreek in season finale
Dayton 3
#6 Centerville over #4 Sidney
Sidney's Stockton is very good player but George shooting and Centerville tourney experience might be too much

All upsets listed are "POSSIBLE" not necessarily "PROBABLE"

Good luck to all the Girls, Teams and Coaches!!
Let the games begin!!

My prediction is that only 1 of the 5 Cincy Sectionals end with the top two seeds in the finals. Think we could get some upsets of teams not ranked in the Top 5 before the Sectional Finals.

All SW OH Girls Hoops fans, you better APPRECIATE this season!
Don’t know if we’ve ever seen or will ever see anything like this ever again.
Top 4 and 5 of Top 6 teams in OH, heading into Tourney play?

Amazing stat: All OH losses for Top 6 teams are to each other, no letdowns entire season!
(Olmsted Falls has 2 out of state losses against Nationally ranked teams)
Every Top 6 but Talawanda has played a Top 6 (W-L Record Top 6 games) this season.

West Clermont (1-0)
Mason (4-1, lost to East)
Princeton (1-2, lost twice to Mason)
Olmsted Falls (0-1, lost to Mason)
Talawanda (0-0)
Lakota East (1-3, lost to WC, Princeton and Mason)

If seeds hold we should be seeing some great basketball between very confident teams come late Feb early March!!

And Bellbrook as predicted, still receives a 1st place vote after losing to both Mason and Kings last week.
THEY ARE A VERY GOOD TEAM BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

Can you share? I agree in Cincinnati 2 and Cincinnati 3. What upsets do you see in 1. 4. and 5?
Cincy 1 - WW-Kings rubber match. WW back healthy, beat them the 1st time.
Cincy 2 - I think Harrison is the least likely of the 4 to play East.
Cincy 3 - West or Milford can beat Talawanda.
Cincy 4 - I think Sycamore beats Walnut. Should be a good game tomorrow.
Cincy 5 - Seton/Oak Hills can beat Loveland. Both play a similar style to Loveland of grind it out, make it ugly.
