2022-2023 General Discussion

He might not be able to be charged criminally, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a POS.
I don't understand how he can't be charged criminally... The only article I read had police alleging he brought the murder weapon and used his car to block in the victim... Was that article just garbage?

People have been charged and convicted as an accomplice for much less than that...

Unfortunately things like this truly show our flaws as humans and how we manage situations. On the surface, Brandon Miller was no charged with anything, so what can you suspend him or sit him for? Poor judgement? If we start making decisions based on the judgements of student athletes, good luck.
And let's face it, Miller is a great player. If he was the 7th/ 8th guy on the bench this would be much different.
To think in 2023, that a coach, who is paid to win, would not act with the best interests of his team winning is a stretch.

There isn’t a college women’s basketball forum, and it’s unknown whether it justifies its own thread, but the NCAA has made its first NIL-related violations hit… and it’s probably one of the weakest cases they could have made for an inaugural penalty on the matter.

Well worth it getting those two on your team

Indiana just went 2-0 vs Purdue. I remember when people on this forum were trying to convince me that Purdue was a great team lmao.

Dig deep enough into this thread, when Purdue was five ahead I said it was phoney and NW had a chance. The league is so match-up dependent, only one team has gathered their best effort, leaving them unfamiliar with nearly all the other teams. Anyone can beat anyone.
I don’t remember, I’d have to dig deep in the threads but it is there.
So you're going to "lmao" over something you don't remember. Let's try this one

smh
:D

Listen to someone smart now. Purdue (who I've watched for decades being a grad) is a one trick pony because their coach doesn't understand the game. He doesn't understand basic geometry of the modern game versus the one he's trying to play and thinks other teams are going to cooperate.

GREAT guy. Good coach. But not the guy that could turn this same roster to exactly that team that could win it all. This is the guy that lost to a minor mid-major with a roster that had a high NBA draft, a lower round draft and the same center deservedly getting raves this year.

But because he's such a great guy, no one wants to hear anything less than all on-board. It's a great way to get attacked or shunned. As it is in almost any fannish activity, sport or politics. With the right draw, they could make headway in the tourney. But because of all the attention on them, every team in that tourney will see all the ways some of the best coaches in the country have gone neutralized their guards, not their center.

But DON'T "lmao" over crap you don't remember. That's insecure.

That is matter of opinion however there is a lot of so called "smart" posters or so called "experts" on yappi and not just bball related. I do agree with most of your synopsis about Painter except maybe the 1st paragraph. Painter to me is the opposite of Ryan Day, Painter builds his teams and coaches to win the BIG but not march madness. Day on the other hand knows exactly what it takes to win it all and recruits accordingly even if it is not the best strategy on beating TTUN (run the football and stop the run instead has a D -coach that runs a 5 DB defense).

I can do whatever I want, you didn’t tell me anything I already didn’t know either. Matt Painter is a joke and most Purdue fans understand that, he won’t last much longer there with the lack of success he has in the postseason. He’s similar to Ryan Day honestly. Just because I don’t exact remember where I said it doesn’t make it any less true.

Major indictment on the Big Ten if a team like Northwestern is that high in the standings. I will withhold total judgment until after the NCAA tournament though
Yes the fact that NW and Nebraska are having career years league record wise says a lot about the BIG (amazing OSU has only been able to win 3 league games). Though it appears college bball is down in general this year.

Which part of the first paragraph are you disagreeing with? Me quoting me? No, that can't be it. Lot's of "smart" posters? Well I only claimed it for one team, since I've probably watched them more than anyone here at least. Painter doesn't build his team to either win the B10 or the NCAA. He builds it to run a particular offense and he kind of fell into that. He didn't start out with that intent. That's a quote.

Is he a terrible coach? No, that's laughable. He has no where near the star talent coming in, is heavy on state local kids and is near or at the top of a pretty decent league, every year.

I'm guessing the part you're disagreeing with is the "any team can beat any other," but that's pretty much exactly how the season has played out.

Right, Matt Painter is bad coach. Right. Unless you win national titles you suck.
