2020 Cleveland Browns

BM has shown he can elevate his game, no doubt.

But, to beat the Chefs you need to keep their offense off the field. With that, the Browns will need to slow it down, run the ball and control the clock.

High powered offenses get antsy and start to force things when their time on the field is limited.

Can BM throw for 300 vs the Chefs?
Yeah.
But that probably will be a recipe for disaster as you do not want to get into a track meet with them.

They will need to rush for 200. (now if they can rush for 200 and throw for 300............)
Yep 200 yards rushing would be huge.

Win the turnover battle, and you might just win.

Exactly. Run the ball with authority to keep Mahomes on the sideline. Need Bitonio and Conklin back. Hopefully get +2 on turnovers, because we will not be stopping that passing attack.

how are we feeling Browns fans? Stefanski and Ward are back. Have we heard about Bitonio and Conklin? We scored 40+ on the Titans, Ravens and Steelers recently, and they all have better defenses than KC. Are we feeling dangerous?

Initial feelings.

  • Teams coming off of a bye usually start the 1st Q slowly plus the Chiefs rested starters in their last game, rust could be an issue for them. The Browns will need to take advantage of this possibility.
  • The Browns will need to score points to win this game but that is what they have been doing for most of the 2nd half of the season. Key will be to getting Conklin back healthy so the entire 1st team OL is playing together. They need to try and shorten the game to not only limit the Chiefs touches but also to keep them out of rhythm.
  • On the defensive side of the ball Garett has not been the same player since he got the Covid and looks out of wind after just a couple snaps in a row, there is a worry that Ward's reacting the same and may not be as effective facing some of the fastest WRs in the game. But the match up to be worried about is Travis Kelce, I would not be surprised if he has over 100 yards and a couple TDs. Joe Woods will need to get creative to limit the Chiefs to less than 40 points.
I could see this game playing out similarly to how OSU did against 'Bama in the National Championship game. Joe Woods tries a bend but don't break style defense and hopes for FGs when the field shrinks in the red zone but once in the red zone Kelce becomes a match up problem and Mahomes finds him with Sendejo always a step behind. Baker has a nice game but just cannot keep up and they lose with a 48-24 type score.

tOSU tried and failed - and didn't adjust. If you try and fail you can put your team in a big hole very fast.
If Ward has Garret-like fatigue issues - and Garret isn't better, the Brown's O will need to play their best game yet.
Does Mahomes - Kelce remind anyone else of Brady - Gronk?

Rust absolutely can be an issue for the Chefs.
PLus, they had things locked up for the last few weeks of the regular season so they mentally were not necessarily 100% dialed in.
As an athlete, you THINK you can just flip that switch but it can be easier said than done.

Browns 27
Chefs: Less than 27.

So let it be written....

Ohio state had no denzel ward.

Ohio State did have a Wade and somehow his idea of covering someone seem to be you need to be 3 plus yards away from the person being covered. He has declared for the draft what round does he get taken?

Brownd are done reslity check.

well no one actually expects the Browns to beat the Chiefs so playing with house money. This could end up being like the last Baltimore game which would at least be exciting.

you’d be crazy to think our D could stop KC. Only way to win is to score a ton of points.

KC already missed extra point so if CLE can score, could already be up.

course first play we lose an OL. Amazing how often this crap happens

Chubb just dropped two short passes on back to back plays. Is his head not in the game?

I didn’t expect a win but not much heart being showed.

And that was a garbage holding call, should have been 1st down at the KC 25.

All a DL has to do is fall to the ground and they will get a holding call, I’m shocked they don’t do it every play. Guy fell on his own on a spin move and got aflag

I think Baker is the only one who came to play today for the Browns. Way to go Higgins. Bc having the ball on the 1 with a minute to go is so bad that it was worth risking a fumble
