2019 Football

I guess you now have to ask the dreaded question no program should want to have asked.........is there a culture problem within Moeller Football? Its one thing to have a bad team, but its a completely different situation when the culture surrounding the program is not a positive culture. When kids start leaving mid season, when multiple kids start getting suspended and now parents are getting concerned....I think its a real issue that Moeller has to address sooner rather than later.

If you listen to this week's podcast with Naumann, you'd think the program is in a great place. He likes to talk about all the great things that are going on in the program and minimizes the fact that they have one win this season and most games are not even competitive. According to him, the scoreboard doesn't tell the whole story and they are making a lot of progress. What area is making a lot of progress is a mystery to me. The fact is we are witnessing the worst team in the history of the program. Let's not sugar coat the reality of the season.

Wouldn't it have been nice to hear him say something like "we know the results are not what we want nor what we expect. We have to do better, we will continue to work hard every single day to find a solution to this and get a victory on Friday night. But rest assured knowing that I as the head coach know these results are not acceptable for Moeller High School." or something a long those lines. To be honest, I took that from Zac Taylors press conference. At least Zac is owning the Bengals 0-6 record and not trying to sugar coat it, or make excuses.

Anybody else have the feeling that Nauman was selected head coach because they knew Rossfeld would come back if it didn't work out with the Bengals and that Nauman would step down? With the 0-6 start, I wonder how long Zac Taylor and crew will last at the Bengals. I can't blame Rossfeld for taking the opportunity; I'd guess it was a huge pay increase. He's got alot of mouths to feed and it would give him a good pad financially to be able to weather alot of years at the HS level. Is there any probability to this being what really happened? Most everybody was pleased with the improvements Rossfeld made in his short one year tenure. I see why we'd want to keep the door open for him.

Based on history, the Bengals don't get rid of coaches quickly so I think there is job security on that staff. I have no inside knowledge about how Naumann was hired, but if I was connecting the dots Rosfeld had a big influence on getting him hired. Hyzdu and Rosfeld are close and he lured him away from UC to become HC and whatever other position he had at Moeller (under Hyzdu??). I think everyone believed we had our coach for years to come. Rosfeld and Naumann are close so when everybody was excited about what Rosfeld was building for the future, it was easy for Rosfeld to say he's your guy and he'll pick up where I left off. I remember Rosfeld saying in an interview after he was hired by the Bengals that he recommended Naumann for the HC position. People are now saying Asbeck didn't have a say in the hire and it was all of Hyzdu's decision. I'm guessing the Rosfeld/Hyzdu relationship strongly impacted the decision and Poof the national search is over and the HC is the guy who wasn't a candidate for the position the previous two recent times it was open (Rodenberg/Rosfeld). IMO since the timing was a little off with the Rosfeld departure, they should have named Naumann interim HC for this season. If the season proved he was the guy, you can remove the interim and make him HC. If not, the search opens right after the season is over and you try to find the guy. Now, they are kinda locked into the hire. You're going to hear the word "rebuild" a lot. I don't know how all of the sudden Moe rebuilds instead of reload. I never remember hearing that excuse during the Klonne, Crable or Rodenberg years. There were down years, but I never remember all the excuses.

Given its location and accessibility to growing Cinti suburbs and families who can afford a parochial high school education, Moeller has a significant advantage over Elder and LaSalle in keeping enrollment numbers up and attracting top notch athletes from a wide area year in and year out. X obviously shares that advantage as well as it historically attracts boys from the entire tristate area including KY and IN. Given that, it amazes me that Moeller's football program is in the state that it is. Is it really just a coaching issue or is there more to the story? Or maybe this season is just an anomaly and a competitive team returns next year???

With Altemuehle and Williams down it is looking even worse for the guys this Saturday... Sophomore quarterback in without their best lineman to protect him. Our only solution to lack of protection would have been Verdon but since Naumann drove him out of town we don't have much of an option. I believe in this Springer kid but due to his lack of experience and now worse protection than before, combined with the terrible play calling by the disgrace of a head coach I don't see this game being competitive. Guys gotta come in with a chip on their shoulders and really fight for it this week.

Replace the coach if u r 2-8! Wrong hire! Fix the shrinking ship or stay bad with a lot more talent transferring. Or more extreme does Moeller replace president. Hyzdu is the one responsible for this mess. When do people have enough of his control antics. The bengals wil not fire Zack Taylor so Rosfeld returning is a mute point. Moeller football is on life support. At least they have a national prep basketball team and a red neck lose cannon soccer coach.
Care to elaborate on the soccer coach comment?

Congrats Coach Naumann for having the worst single season record in the programs history. Now the question is will you be 2-8 or 1-9. I'm betting on 1-9 which will also make you the first coach to lose to a Canadian team. You and your staff are a bunch of circus clowns trying to be football coaches. Make sure you are on the JV bus Saturday morning so that you can get to Cleveland and coach the JV team. What varsity head coach coaches the JV team? Moeller deserves better!

I would think most programs would see improvement in one year...should know if headed in right direction. Best of luck to Cincinnati Moeller in the future.

A Division 1 Coach should not be Coaching the Varsity and JV. If this is the case at Moeller this year, shame on the AD and administration! This does not put anyone involved to be successful.

When Big Moe returns to normal, starting next year, you'll be the first person in the stadium. I think coaches point, he along with knowledgeable Moe fans know this year was going to be a big challenge. No one, coaches, players, and Moe fans are happy with this season. The season ends in 3 weeks and the future looks brighter with 15-16 returning starters and a talented soph. and frosh class moving up. I agree about the play calling and untimely timeouts. Hopefully those growing pains will be worked out and play calling will be much easier next year with a seasoned offensive line and experienced skilled talent. The big issue next year is who will play QB?
In today's world of musical chairs are we sure those starters and freshmen will return to Moeller? We've had young inexperienced teams before but we were still competitive. This team isn't even close to competitive. I heard the off season talk and a lot of people were saying they made a huge mistake with hiring Nauman as head coach. I was willing to wait and see but after what has transpired I guess those who really knew about Nauman were right. Do you honestly think he can turn it around that quick in one year especially seeing as how the JV has also been losing. I'm very disappointed in the Moeller Administration. Moeller is a great school in many different ways but football put this school on the map. To let it get this ugly is a disgrace.

I never thought the day would come and I doubt anyone else would either when the Moeller band would out perform the football team on a weekly basis. They need to get the band director involved on the football side of things. The guy thinks outside the box, puts an entertaining product on the field and gets the most out of what is given to him. Those of us who remember the band through the years will know what I am talking about. That side of things is entertaining. Maybe he can go coach the JV (ha ha).

Yep - everything is just great! The sky is blue - it's a great day - the record may not be what we would like but the guys are all having a great experience! Learning a lot and getting better. And how about that Princeton stadium? That is really nice. The parking is really nice and so is the press box. And we have been having great crowds - and everyone is getting to see really good football. Can't wait to play St Eds on Saturday! It will be great! We are excited because the game will be on ESPN Saturday and the entire nation can see how great everything is! The future is bright!

Saturday will be the most embarrassing day in not only Moeller Football history but the history of Moeller High School. Here comes another first for you Coach Nauman! First high school team to have a running clock against them on national TV. Just think what people around the country are going to be saying about the storied Moeller Football Program. Your "Plan" isn't working!

Maybe Moeller should have Kramer coach the football team and let Susli hop on the football recruiting trail. They will turn things around in no time

I heard him say it is on espn, but the guide has college football on all the espn channels Saturday. Anyone know where it is going to be playing?

Game is on ESPN+ ... You guys do know that Kremer doesn’t do anything ... doesn’t coach and doesn’t principal... Sussli and Coach Jurk do all the coaching.

Not sure if this is supposed to be sarcastic or not but I have been to each game at Princeton this year....I would give anything to be back at Lockland. How can playing at our form Arch Rivals home field be good for the program??? At least at Lockland we had blue and gold all over the place, the scoreboard looked like a Moeller home field. Red, White, Blue and Gold? Yeah this year we did not play one single home game....we borrowed a rivals stadium, nothing more, nothing less.

Everyone is getting to see really good football??? I am not sure what games at Princeton you have been to but they are anything but good. For Moeller to say its "good football" has to be the lowest of the low points for this storied school and program. I am honestly absolutely scared for this game to be on ESPN. I am frightened for the way our school is going to be seen. All the annoucners will be talking about is "how Moeller USED to be a dominance in the state", "How Moeller USED to produced quality football year in and year out." They wont be talking about the current team, they wont be talking about the future of Moeller, per usual they will be talking about the glory days. they will be talking about the past.

I understand what you were trying to get at with this post. Yappi is a place for all of us to voice our opinions and often times those opinions can be hurtful, but when you have a private organization asking for 12k a year to go there, you have to accept that people can and will voice their opinions.

I'm pretty sure the quote you referred to was sarcasm As for the bold part, that is why I keep saying it's a disgrace what the Moeller Administration has done. Football put Moeller on the map and is what helped make Moeller a great school. Again there has been a lot of good things going on at Moeller on and off the athletic field but when you let a storied program get this ugly you are neglecting your responsibility. The more I read and see there needs to be a shake down from the top on down. It appears some egos have overstepped their boundaries and if it is not corrected immediately it may have long term impacts on the school in general. But let's face it, if you love Moeller or hate Moeller, people always knew Moeller because they always put a quality football team on the field every fall which reflected on the the whole school. It's interesting to read and hear from people in general who really aren't connected to Moeller who wonder how did this happen and how pathetic it is.

The post was both truth and sarcasm. The truth of it is what he posted was pretty much a summary of what Naumann said in this week's podcast with Ebel. Naumann said all those things about the fans are seeing great football, how great Princeton is, etc. By listening to him, you'd think we are preparing to host our first playoff game in a few weeks. There seems to be no reality for a majority of his comments, which makes it a running joke.

I did just listen to it. I am not sure how he himself can even believe the words that are coming out of his own mouth. You cant be positive when you are this bad, you have to acknowledge that you are not satisfied with these results. I don't hear and frustration, anger or even really care for the program by saying those things....how can you? I need a coach who cares...I need a coach who is going to say "this is not what we want. this is not what we expect from our program, we must do better. Right now I am convinced he, Marshall Hyzdu and the board are satisfied with everything right now....everything is "great" "great football, great stadium" its all great!

starting to feel like they are all going a little bit crazy trying to convince themselves this is OK
