2018 Football

I'm a little disappointed that we are this far along and no DC named. Rosfeld has been the Head Coach for five months and you haven't named a DC? Doesn't make a bit of sense. COME ON MAN!!!

Disappointing if true, I cannot understand why we have had such a turnstyle of coaching with the football program?

I guess, sadly, this is going back to my days in the late 1990s too.

Really the kid who you all mentioned earlier is officially back, I believe competition is a good thing, and considering the issues with durability last year only compounds it.

Maybe part of it is pay and benefits are better at public schools?

You don't have to teach at Moeller to coach. There are many high school coaches that teach at other schools and coach at a different school. I believe the previous DC was a teacher at Colerain. You would think there would be a laundry list of experienced coaches who would die to coach at Moeller. It's going to be hard to get a DC this late in the year. Again, if Nauman's becomes the DC then we are taking a step backwards. He was run out of Covington Catholic as the DC because the kids didn't respect him.

Is this speculation about the DC coordinator not being in place? Has there been an “official” announcement of the entire coaching staff? Who is coming back from Rodeburg’s staff? I know Majors and Klonne are back. What about Williams, Paola, Cruse? Will Milne have a bigger role? Is Majors the official OC?

What happened to all those big donors on here that threatened to take their $ away when Moeller was losing football games- can't they chip in and buy a new D.C...?

Nice joke mom, but I was referring to the state teachers retirement system and OPERS, which provide basically double the retirement funds that Moeller does.

I heard Cruse is coming back. Williams and Paola were offered spots but are not coming back. Majors is the OC from my understanding. I would have wished Williams and Paola would have come back. I like having football Alumni on the staff. Both of those guys have a ton of experience and have coached at Moeller for many years. I haven't hear if Tim Moormann is coming back to coach the kickers. Does anyone know?

A DC has been in place for a little while now. Will not be made public till July 8th when all the positions incuding the coordinators are announced.. The staff is a mixture of young and older coaches. All have been hand picked by Doug with several positions having an assistant to help develop. The season is going to be a blast. Be patient and support them. Go Big Moe

DC is in place "contingent" upon receiving a teaching position at Moeller so until then the DC is not in place. Every coach is hand picked by the Head Coach so that isn't any different than any other staff. I would think that the OC and DC would be the first two positions a coach fills on his staff and builds around that. I think Doug will bring excitement back to the program and I believe they have a chance to be pretty good this year. GBM!

I don’t hate the names I see and recognize...can I assume Jay Volker is of the Elder Volker name? If so, I played against PJ, I assume they’re related and the last I heard, was coaching in college.

I remember the name, Alex Pace, played at UC? I’m excited about that group, just hope they put the kids in the right places.

Thanks for sharing

There isn't a lot of experience on the staff as we have discussed. Might by the least experience staff in the history of the program. Looks like JV coaches are listed so I'm assuming JV and Varsity will practice together. Outside of Rosfeld and Majors I think Cruse has a few years of experience but after that not much. I don't know Volker's experience but outside of that Naumann has some as a part-time coach. I've never heard of an Associate Head Coach for a high school team. What does that mean?

Derus, who is also a counselor and the NCAA eligibility liaison, has coached at several schools before coming to Moeller; Ginetti played at Penn State and has been on the Moeller coaching staff for a couple of years and has coached at other schools prior. His son who was part of the state championship lacrosse team is graduating this year and they have a younger son not at Moeller yet.

I think Don is late 40's early 50's? So you are counting coaching from 20 plus years ago as "experience"? COME ON Kballer you are better than that! There is a major lack of experience on this staff. I hope it doesn't come back to haunt us but with the schedule we play it may.

I'm not saying anything- someone asked if any had coaching experience and I am just posting more info on him and Derus. Judge if that is "good enough" or not on your own! I would think he is likely not drawing a paycheck or needing a teaching job which is a big plus, though! I don't disagree that this staff lacks experience but seriously you people would never be happy unless the entire coaching roster form OSU suddenly showed up to Moeller football.

Actually- then you would probably complain that it isn't Alabamas!

LOL! Very true Kballer. That's Moeller for you. I hate to say it but I don't think we will ever be what we were back in the '70's and '80's. There are to many choices today for kids and parents when it comes to schools to attend. Let's see how it plays out and I hope I'm wrong. Was just having some fun with you Kballer.

Agree! Just don't bring up SMOY dads again, people tend to get a little s n I p p y about them for some reason...

Jay Volker is a very solid hire. Was a captain at Elder and TMC.

Has some very solid experience at LS. One of the best young coaches around.

everyone relax. This year is going to have a lot of growing pains, like most first year coaching staffs. Yes experience is not ideal. But also I could argue that we can't afford a ton of really GOOD experienced coaches. If they have a ton of experience the only way we can get them is if they want to do moeller a favor and volunteer for the most part. Id rather have young passionate coaches them guys who have been phoning it in for 20 years.

But the most positive thing is I think the program will be ran in a way we can be proud of. Not the d1 prospect all start team that has kids walking on the field and parents fighting with each other and coaches when they dont get their way. Over all I believe Moeller football will return to business as usual, at least as we know it (or like to perceive it).

The football boys have been tearing it up on the track this Spring- good to see so many out there. Khayo in particular has done well- which with his size that may give him better college offers than football.

Id be willing to bet that its more that williams wants a break more than he wasnt offered a job.

I believes this is what this is because all the other in-house coaches were retained plus he's good friends with Rosfeld so I doubt he wasn't offered a position.
