Hope the Comets continue where we left off last year with 5 wins in a row out the gate! Starting out with the GMC champs from last year; Lakota East. Let's sweep em!

Good Luck!

Go Comets!!

Just noticed the schedule shows this now:

Saturday 4/16 11:00AM vs. Centerville (DH)

Instead of what it originally showed, this:

Saturday 4/16 11:00AM vs. DH St. Xavier/Centerville

Does anyone know if it now means we play Centerville twice instead of St. X and Centerville once each on that day?

If that's the case; I wonder who backed out and why? Anyone?

The GMC website shows...

at St. Xavier 10:30am
Centerville 1:30 PM.

Not sure what's accurate. GMCsports.com originally did not have Amherst Steele on the schedule and that was the day of the game.

GWOCsports.com shows Centerville @ Mason 1:30pm and GCLsports.com has St X hosting Mason 10:30 AM.

I guess it depends on where you look. Guess we'll know for sure as we get closer to that date.

By the way; todays game against Sycamore was pretty ugly (the only word that fits IMO), all the way around from top to bottom. Maybe one or two bright spots but not where you would expect them to be.
I know it was only one game but what I saw today is not just a bump IMO.
Hope I'm wrong starting Friday in the second and final game of the Sycamore series. As far as Moeller goes Saturday; let's just say I don't feel good about it.

With the talent coming through Mason; I have to say I'm disappointed in the outcome of this years team results. There were a couple of bright spots but overall not acceptable for a school like Mason. I had high hopes and from what I observed big changes need to be made to the baseball program for it to become a force in the GMC. :(

No changes = No changes!

Keeping the stage parents out of the equation would be a great start...

I agree that parents can be an distraction. But that's something every school has to deal with. I'm ashamed to admit that the coaches, Athletic Director, Administration, and others associated with the baseball program know that their are a lot of problems with the Mason Baseball program but choose to accept or ignore these facts and think it's OK.

Way to many players choose not to play for the Mason baseball program. It's not because they don't want to represent their school, aren't good enough to play, or they don't love baseball; it's because they can't stand playing for these coaches.

Typically some can ignore many of these negative things, if a program is achieving exceptional results. But the effects of these internal problems due mainly to poor leadership is plain obvious. I can't understand how it can be ignored either way.

Man! "You hit the nail on the head". :thumb:

Coaches have to be ambassadors of their sport by teaching all aspects of the game, believing in their players, building confidence, be approachable, promote their sport, and help players achieve their maximum potential so that they stay interested and continue to love that sport. Also promoting their players and do what they can to help their players move on to the next level.

These coaches do not do those things (or do very little of some) and in fact are having a negative effect in the development of these fine athletes they come in contact with. Of course their are exceptions and some over come these negatives but their are many that do not. "Dictator style coaching" does not work.

Just ask current players and past players how much they like playing for these coaches. The old technique of "do as I say; not as I do" wasn't effective 30 years ago and is even less affective today.
