Well we finally made it to the 90's and this was the first time I was not sure what my favorite album was. Bunch of great albums out during this era but there are likely a lot I have not heard that could make my top 100 list. My top 100 consist of studio albums only with Live and EP albums with unique tracks that do not appear on any other studio album are considered. Now I've listened to a bunch of albums in the 90's so what are your favorites of this era and if I have not listened to them I will check them out.... frankly, I believe the 90's were a bit weak compared to the 80's and 70's .......................

I was a metal head in the 90's so most of these will be Metal!

Tool - Flood (Undertow)

Alice in Chains - nutshell (Jar of Flies)

Nirvana - Drain You (Nevermind)

Tool - Jimmy (Aenima)

Tool - Sweat (Opiate)

I don't think people give this song enough credit. They got some of the guitar part from an Argentinian band, which gives it a different vibe. And the seemingly simple and straight-forward lyrics are actually quite interesting and open to a multitude of interpretations. I think it's a great example of Kurt's genius of vocal melody and sense of humor

I see Porno for Pyros, but no Jane’s Addiction. Ritual de lo habitual was one of my favorites.

I was introduced to Janes Addiction at Lollapalooza or whatever that was in the middle of some farm field in Indiana. Saw a lot of interesting bands there including Tool.

Ritual De Lo Habitual - Jane's Addiction m Alternative N 37.111 74.312 1990

Love that song.... I did not care for some of the In Utero stuff when I first heard it but it did not take long for it to grow on me. This song was great the first time I heard it.

Saw Perry Farrell at Cedar Point of all places. Him and his entourage were just hanging out riding coasters. I'd guess only me and a handful of others knew who he was at the time (early 90's).

Nice! As a kid who grew up going to CP, we saw a ton of celebrities in the park. Just a few years back, saw C.C. Sabathia with his family in the kids area across from the Gemini. We shared an obligatory nod to convey equal parts 'miserable Dad' watching our kids misbehave in line for one of the rides. He seemed like a normal and likable dude. More relevant to the 90's music topic, although not rock, also saw Bone Thugs being escorted down the midway back in their heyday. That entourage was a circus! :ROFLMAO:

Does trip hip hop count as Rock and Roll?

I actually seen Tricky in Concert back in the 90's just outside of Indy... I believe it was a Lollapalooza or something like that. Tool was there and that was all that mattered. I actually liked him live and went out and bought the Pre-Millenium album but hated it....

Me too. It's why I bought Tricky's album. * The Pre-Millenium album has a few songs I'd always skip, that is true. For whatever reason, road trips from Phoenix to Flagstaff ALWAYS had Tricky and The Cure playing...back in the day.

Lollapalooza Polaris '97.
Snoop Doggy Dogg
Tricky
James
Julian & Damian Marley
Eels
The Prodigy
Korn
Tool
Some really good "fests" back in the day.

That looks like the lineup in Indy as well. It was suppose to be Devo headlining but Prodigy took over which was a bummer as I was a big spudhead back then. I remember some Japanese band playing old school rock and roll. It was a blast. There was this preacher looking guy checking it out a few people over. I thought he looked like Ric flair.... Later I was shocked when I realized it was Maynard when he appeared on stage with Tool. I was that close to him and could of talked to him.... a chance I would never get again. Though I did get to talk with the guys in Mudvayne in an old LP store on high street in Columbus.... though that was way back when nobody knew who they were.... but it still counts!!!!!

My brother earned his masters from the Art Institute of Chicago in like '89 or '90, and got to see Ministry multiple times.

Soundgarden Superunknown has to be top 20.

The "4th of July" at 55:42 is one of my all time favorite songs.

It has been about 20 years since I listened to that album.... I will definitely have to revisit it. There were some great songs on it including my favorite Sound Garden song Black Hole Sun. I did not care for half of the tracks at that time which kept this one from making my list..... Now that I am more mellowed out I might like it much better....

Badmotorfinger was the better album, IMHO.

To the OP, I liked Dirt best of the Alice in Chains albums followed by Facelift, Jar of Flies, Tripod (never actually knew the album's name), and Sap. No love for either of Guns 'N Roses' Use Your Illusion albums? I can't say which one I like better now. In my younger days, I preferred 2, but 1 grew on me as I got older. I will also throw out Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power as my favorite, but some listeners might prefer Cowboys from Hell or Far Beyond Driven.

No, did not like any of those GNR albums. The only GNR albums I liked were Appetite and Lies......

I saw Pantera in concert when they first started at Newport in Columbus. Very aggressive band and put on a great show live. As for the albums I like them but overall do not think that they are that great. It has been a long time since I have heard a Pantera album and I just might one day re-visit them.

Cowboys From Hell - Pantera m Groove 70.120 1990
Vulgar Display of Power - Pantera m Groove 71.928 1992
Far Beyond Driven - Pantera m Groove 70.787 1994

according to my ratings I also like Vulgar better....
